Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 21, 12-19)

Jésus parlait à ses disciples de sa venue : « On portera la main sur vous et l’on vous persécutera ; on vous livrera aux synagogues, on vous jettera en prison, on vous fera comparaître devant des rois et des gouverneurs, à cause de mon Nom.
Ce sera pour vous l'occasion de rendre témoignage.
Mettez-vous dans la tête que vous n'avez pas à vous soucier de votre défense.
Moi-même, je vous inspirerai un langage et une sagesse à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront opposer ni résistance ni contradiction.
Vous serez livrés même par vos parents, vos frères, votre famille et vos amis, et ils feront mettre à mort certains d'entre vous.
Vous serez détestés de tous, à cause de mon Nom.
Mais pas un cheveu de votre tête ne sera perdu.
C'est par votre persévérance que vous obtiendrez la vie. »

Le message

Les problèmes seront toujours là quand nous annonçons la bonne nouvelle. Le Seigneur ne nous garanti pas une vie sans problème, mais Il nous assure son accompagnement. Im sera avec nous. Nous ne devons que Le laisser travailler en nous. Il nous dira tous ceux que nous devons faire et dire.

Mère Theresa de Kolkotta une fois dit que nous devons toujours veiller que notre travail missionnaire doit rester un travail du Seigneur. Si notre vie est rempli de la grâce du Seigneur, même si elle est dominée par les persécutions et calomnies, nous serons capable de pouvoir vivre notre vie dans la joie et bonheur.

Gospel text (Lc 21,12-19):

Jesus said to his disciples, «People will lay their hands on you and persecute you; you will be delivered to the Jewish courts and put in prison, and for my sake you will be brought before kings and governors. This will be your opportunity to bear witness. So keep this in mind: do not worry in advance about what to answer, for I will give you words and wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, and brothers, by relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death. But even though you are hated by all for my name's sake, not a hair of your head will perish. Through perseverance you will possess your own selves».

The message

Even though the gospel message is frightening like that of yesterday’s gospel, there is wonderful news to all missionaries: “not a hair of your head will perish.” Throughout our missionary endeavors, the Lord will accompany us. He will never abandon us.

Only if we allow the Holy Spirit to enter in to our hearts and work in us, then we will realize the wonderful work the Lord will do through us and how he transforms even our weakness to witness the loving presence of the Lord.

The world may stand against us, even our own family may betray us, but the Lord will stand by us. It is this sole confidence that the great missionaries went to preach the good News. De we have the same confidence? Do we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us?
