Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Marc 2,23-28.

Un jour de sabbat, Jésus marchait à travers les champs de blé ; et ses disciples, chemin faisant, se mirent à arracher des épis.
Les pharisiens lui disaient : « Regarde ce qu’ils font le jour du sabbat ! Cela n’est pas permis. »
Et Jésus leur dit : « N’avez-vous jamais lu ce que fit David, lorsqu’il fut dans le besoin et qu’il eut faim, lui-même et ceux qui l’accompagnaient ?
Au temps du grand prêtre Abiatar, il entra dans la maison de Dieu et mangea les pains de l’offrande que nul n’a le droit de manger, sinon les prêtres, et il en donna aussi à ceux qui l’accompagnaient. »
Il leur disait encore : « Le sabbat a été fait pour l’homme, et non pas l’homme pour le sabbat.
Voilà pourquoi le Fils de l’homme est maître, même du sabbat. »

Le message

La Bonne Nouvelle est ce que Jésus va détruire toute sorte de loi et Il va construire un mode nouveau, un monde où l’amour sera le roi. : « Le sabbat a été fait pour l’homme, et non pas l’homme pour le sabbat. » L’homme sera désormais le maître de tout, de tout en Christ, l’homme par excellence. Jésus n’est pas venu détruire la tradition, mais pour établir une nouvelle tradition, une tradition voulue par le Seigneur. Voulons-nous participer à cette tradition ?

Gospel text (Mc 2,23-28):

One sabbath Jesus was walking through grainfields. As his disciples walked along with him, they began to pick the heads of grain and crush them in their hands. Then the Pharisees said to Jesus, «Look! they are doing what is forbidden on the sabbath!». And He said to them, «Have you never read what David did in his time of need, when he and his men were very hungry? He went into the house of God when Abiathar was High Priest and ate the bread of offering, which only the priests are allowed to eat, and he also gave some to the men who were with him». Then Jesus said to them, «The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. So the Son of Man is master even of the sabbath».

The message

How many of us wish to be faithful to the law of the society and ignore many good people who don’t find a place under our social system. Jesus is introducing a new law: love. Jesus is not against la tradition, rather wishes to establish a new tradition based in divine love, as wished by His Father.

All that we should know is, when this Love starts to take root in our existence, all judgment or reproach or accusation, will give way to this Love. It is because of this truth that we are called to work with Christ so that this Loves becomes the source of our life.
