Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 4, 14-22a)

En ce temps-là,
lorsque Jésus, dans la puissance de l’Esprit,
revint en Galilée,
sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région.
Il enseignait dans les synagogues,
et tout le monde faisait son éloge.
Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé.
Selon son habitude, il entra dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat,
et il se leva pour faire la lecture.
On lui remit le livre du prophète Isaïe.
Il ouvrit le livre et trouva le passage où il est écrit :
L’Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi
parce que le Seigneur m’a consacré par l’onction.
Il m’a envoyé porter la Bonne Nouvelle aux pauvres,
annoncer aux captifs leur libération,
et aux aveugles qu’ils retrouveront la vue,
remettre en liberté les opprimés,
annoncer une année favorable
accordée par le Seigneur.
Jésus referma le livre, le rendit au servant et s’assit.
Tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux fixés sur lui.
Alors il se mit à leur dire :
« Aujourd’hui s’accomplit ce passage de l’Écriture
que vous venez d’entendre. »
Tous lui rendaient témoignage
et s’étonnaient des paroles de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche.

Le message

Dieu nous aime et dans cet amour Il vient nous sauver. C’est pourquoi tout ce qu’Il a dit par les prophètes est en cohérant avec tout ce qu’Il fait. Le magnificat de Marie nous montre combien Dieu est fidèle à sa promesse à Abraham.

Il vient nous libérer, libérer de nos ténèbres qui nous empêchent à reconnaitre la présence de Dieu dans notre vie. Comment est-il possible que Dieu abandonne son peuple ? En vérité, ce n’est pas nous qui l’avons abandonné ?

L’incarnation nous donne cette espérance : même la mère peut oublier son enfant, moi, je ne t’oublierais jamais. L’évangile du jour nous l’affirme.

Scripture: Luke 4:14-22

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and a report concerning him went out through all the surrounding country. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and he went to the synagogue, as his custom was, on the Sabbath day. And he stood up to read; 17 and there was given to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened the book and found the place where it was written,

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

20 And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, "Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." 22 And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, "Is not this Joseph's son?"

The message

The gospel gives us lot of hope, particularly to those who feel being abandoned. Is it possible to God to forget His people? He has said, that the mother can forget her child, but I will never forget you. He is a God who is faithful.

The incarnation reminds us this deep love of God for us; He didn’t spare even His only begotten Son for us. He has come to liberate us, particularly from the clutches of sin and wickedness. With Him, in His light, we can live in the light.

Today this liberation work is delegated to us. We have no right still to remain on the mountain looking up towards the sky. We have to continue His mission, it is our mission. Let us start to liberate in little way and God will accompany us.
