Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Matthieu 21,28-32.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux grands prêtres et aux anciens :
« Quel est votre avis ? Un homme avait deux fils. Il vint trouver le premier et lui dit : “Mon enfant, va travailler aujourd’hui à la vigne.”
Celui-ci répondit : “Je ne veux pas.” Mais ensuite, s’étant repenti, il y alla.
Puis le père alla trouver le second et lui parla de la même manière. Celui-ci répondit : “Oui, Seigneur !” et il n’y alla pas.
Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du père ? » Ils lui répondent : « Le premier. » Jésus leur dit : « Amen, je vous le déclare : les publicains et les prostituées vous précèdent dans le royaume de Dieu.
Car Jean le Baptiste est venu à vous sur le chemin de la justice, et vous n’avez pas cru à sa parole ; mais les publicains et les prostituées y ont cru. Tandis que vous, après avoir vu cela, vous ne vous êtes même pas repentis plus tard pour croire à sa parole. »

Le message

Dans cette année de la miséricorde, cet évangile est assurant pour tous ceux et celles qui souhaiteraient de retrouver tout ce qui est perdu de l’Eglise dans la vie quotidienne. Beaucoup d’entre nous qui avons perdu cette espérance que Dieu nous offert dans son Eglise, est une grâce de renouvellement.

Pour tous ceux et celles qui sont fidèles à l’Eglise, cet évangile est un appel à exigence évangélique : une obéissance parfaite à l’image de Jésus, qui a cherchait toujours à accomplir la volonté de son Père. Cet évangile évidement nous rappelle la liberté que Dieu nous a accordée et il nous demande de faire une relecture de la vie intérieure ; comment agissons-nous dans cette liberté et quelles sont notre priorités? Sommes-nous vraiment justes devant ce Dieu qui nous aime ?

Scripture: Matthew 21:28-32

28 "What do you think? A man had two sons; and he went to the first and said, `Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' 29 And he answered, `I will not'; but afterward he repented and went. 30 And he went to the second and said the same; and he answered, `I go, sir,' but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him."

The message

Today’s gospel reminds us the importance of discernment and the way we engage to accomplish the will of the Father. Though there are many exigencies, God, however gives us the maximum freedom and liberty that He can accord to us. While complaining generously that God doesn’t listen to our prayers, shouldn’t we accord the same generosity in accomplishing the will of the Father? Should we know the will of the Father, or at least took the initiative to know His will in our personal life? Without this basic knowledge how can it be possible for us to build the health relationship with Him?

Jesus is asking each and every one us, are we really just before God in our discernment and priorities? All that God asks us to do is not for His good, rather for our own good. How can we be happy without realizing this basic goodness of God? Shouldn’t we repent and believe in this goodness of God and start to do all that He is asking us to do? The joyful waiting begins with this simple conviction of God’s goodness.
