Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 19, 45-48)

Jésus entra dans le Temple, et se mit à expulser les marchands. Il leur déclarait :
« L'Écriture dit : Ma maison sera une maison de prière. Or vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de bandits. »
Il était chaque jour dans le Temple pour enseigner. Les chefs des prêtres et les scribes, ainsi que les notables, cherchaient à le faire mourir, mais ils ne trouvaient pas le moyen d'y arriver ; en effet, le peuple tout entier était suspendu à ses lèvres.

Le message

La prière est un dialogue, où Dieu parle et l’homme écoute. Le temple est un lieu sacré, parce qu’on y favorise cette rencontre humaine et divine.

L’homme dans sa faiblesse a perdu sa dignité, y compris sa relation divine. Jésus le Fils unique est venu afin de rétablir cette relation divine, ne peut jamais accepter d’une manipulation ou dégradation de ce lieu sacré au nom de Dieu, lui-même.

Le peuple qui cherchait ce Dieu et qui attentait pour cette rencontre divine était heureux. Et nous…….. !

Gospel text (Lc 19,45-48):

Jesus entered the Temple area and began to drive out the merchants. And He said to them, «God says in the Scriptures: ‘My house shall be a house of prayer’: but you have turned it into a den of robbers». Jesus was teaching every day in the Temple. The chief priests and teachers of the Law wanted to kill him and the elders of the Jews as well, but they were unable to do anything, for all the people were listening to him and hanging on his words.

The message

Jesus is asking us to transform all our places of prayer as a house of the where man could go and meet the Father and taste His infinite love. To taste this infinite love, we need an atmosphere of silence and serenity. People, who long to have this divine relationship and enter into a direct dialogue with Father, will appreciate this atmosphere of peace and serenity.

Jesus is warning all those who are manipulating and degrading this sacred place in to a commercial opportunity. Let us give attention to our places of worship and transform them in to a divine meeting place, where human being could enter into a perfect dialogue with the Father.

Second thought

Jesus is the temple of God for us where by His death and resurrection, He has made us worthy to enter in to a perfect dialogue with God.

Jesus cleaning the temple can me translated in to his cleaning of our own hearts, which we have stained with our sins. He is inviting us to discover this presence of God in us, by this purification.

How many of us are ready for this purification and happily accept this wonderful initiative of Jesus?
