Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Jean

(Jn 6, 35-40)

Après avoir multiplié les pains, Jésus disait à la foule des Juifs :
« Moi, je suis le pain de la vie. Celui qui vient à moi n'aura plus jamais faim ; celui qui croit en moi n'aura plus jamais soif.
Mais je vous l'ai déjà dit : vous avez vu, et pourtant vous ne croyez pas.
Tous ceux que le Père me donne viendront à moi ; et celui qui vient à moi, je ne vais pas le jeter dehors.
Car je ne suis pas descendu du ciel pour faire ma volonté, mais pour faire la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.
Or, la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé, c'est que je ne perde aucun de ceux qu'il m'a donnés, mais que je les ressuscite tous au dernier jour.
Car la volonté de mon Père, c'est que tout homme qui voit le Fils et croit en lui obtienne la vie éternelle ; et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. »

Le message

Depuis quelques jours nous méditions sur le Pain, le Pain de la vie et aujourd’hui sur la volonté du Père. Dans ces discours il y a un mot qui se répète sans arrêt ; Croire.

Croire en Jésus Christ et aussi Celui qui l’a envoyé parmi nous. Connaître Dieu en Jésus Christ et sa Volonté par les œuvres du Seigneur. Or la Volonté du père c’est que tout homme obtienne la vie éternelle et qu’il vive sa vie pleinement dans le bonheur et dans la joie.

La croyance n’enlèvera pas les problèmes mais elle nous donnera l’énergie et le courage lorsque nous confrontons les échecs dans notre vie.

Gospel text (Jn 6,35-40):

Jesus said to the crowds, «I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall never be hungry, and whoever believes in me shall never be thirsty. Nevertheless, as I said, you refuse to believe, even when you have seen. Yet, all that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me, I shall not turn away. For I have come from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of the One who sent me. And the will of him who sent me is that I lose nothing of what He has given me, but instead that I raise it up on the last day. This is the will of the Father, that whoever sees the Son and believes in him shall live with eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day».

The message

If there is a single word which keeps repeating in these days with the Bread of life is ‘belief in Jesus Christ. We have started with the multiplication of bread, to life giving bread and today we are with the will of the Father. The Bread in Jesus Christ is given to us so that we may have this eternal life, life in God.

The only way we have this eternal life is by believing in Jesus Christ and the Father. It is through Jesus and through His works that we understand the Father. The presence of this loving Father in our lives stimulates our loving capacity and the necessity to forgive and accept others as they are. Let us get inspired by this Divine love and live it fully so that other may know that we are Christians.
