Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 1, 46-56)

En ce temps-là,
Marie rendit grâce au Seigneur
en disant :
« Mon âme exalte le Seigneur,
exulte mon esprit en Dieu, mon Sauveur !
Il s’est penché sur son humble servante ;
désormais tous les âges me diront bienheureuse.
Le Puissant fit pour moi des merveilles ;
Saint est son nom !
Sa miséricorde s’étend d’âge en âge
sur ceux qui le craignent.
Déployant la force de son bras,
il disperse les superbes.
Il renverse les puissants de leurs trônes,
il élève les humbles.
Il comble de biens les affamés,
renvoie les riches les mains vides.
Il relève Israël son serviteur,
il se souvient de son amour
de la promesse faite à nos pères,
en faveur d’Abraham et sa descendance à jamais. »

Marie resta avec Élisabeth environ trois mois,
puis elle s’en retourna chez elle.

Le message

‘La demeure de Dieu’ sera notre thème jusqu’à Noël et nous continuerons le thème de la semaine dernière ; la joie. Restons avec Marie, car elle nous fera participer à la joie de son Fils.

L’enfant d’Elizabeth a bien reconnu la présence de Dieu et il a trésaille de joie. Marie poussé par l’Esprit Saint chante Magnificat et elle est remplie de joie. Avec elle, nous sommes dans la joie. Rendons grâce au Seigneur pour cette Joie. Ces jours-là fixons nos regards non seulement vers le ciel, mais également vers les hommes où demeure le Seigneur.

Comme Marie restons avec nos frères et sœurs qui ont besoin de nous. Tant que nous ne soyons pas assurés de leur sécurité ou leurs biens, restons avec eux. C’est ainsi nous pourrions propager ce feu de joie, dont Dieu partage avec nous par l’Incarnation.

Gospel text (Lc 1,46-56):

Mary said: «My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit exults in God my savior! He has looked upon his servant in her lowliness, and people forever will call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, Holy is his Name! From age to age his mercy extends to those who live in his presence. He has acted with power and done wonders, and scattered the proud with their plans. He has put down the mighty from their thrones and lifted up those who are downtrodden. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He held out his hand to Israel, his servant, for he remembered his mercy, even as he promised our fathers, Abraham and his descendants forever».

Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned home.

The message

Very hurriedly Mary went to visit Elizabeth and today she is not in a hurry. She remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned home. This time was necessary for Elizabeth and we are called to give the same to all our brothers and sisters who are in need of us. Without giving this time necessary, we can’t be truly Christians.

Mary inspired by the Holy Spirit reminds us our salvation history and the fidelity of God. It is in this fidelity that the humanity will be able to taste this joy that God has decided to share with Mary, the mother of Jesus. All that He has given to Mary, He has given to the humanity, including Christ, the Son of God. Don’t we have the reason to be happy and grateful?
