Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Marc 1,29-39.

En ce temps-là, aussitôt sortis de la synagogue de Capharnaüm, Jésus et ses disciples allèrent, avec Jacques et Jean, dans la maison de Simon et d’André.
Or, la belle-mère de Simon était au lit, elle avait de la fièvre. Aussitôt, on parla à Jésus de la malade.
Jésus s’approcha, la saisit par la main et la fit lever. La fièvre la quitta, et elle les servait.
Le soir venu, après le coucher du soleil, on lui amenait tous ceux qui étaient atteints d’un mal ou possédés par des démons.
La ville entière se pressait à la porte.
Il guérit beaucoup de gens atteints de toutes sortes de maladies, et il expulsa beaucoup de démons ; il empêchait les démons de parler, parce qu’ils savaient, eux, qui il était.
Le lendemain, Jésus se leva, bien avant l’aube. Il sortit et se rendit dans un endroit désert, et là il priait.
Simon et ceux qui étaient avec lui partirent à sa recherche.
Ils le trouvent et lui disent : « Tout le monde te cherche. »
Jésus leur dit : « Allons ailleurs, dans les villages voisins, afin que là aussi je proclame l’Évangile ; car c’est pour cela que je suis sorti. »
Et il parcourut toute la Galilée, proclamant l’Évangile dans leurs synagogues, et expulsant les démons.

Homélie

En quittant la synagogue, Jésus reprend son chemin. Or la belle-mère de Simon est malade, sans plus attendre, on parle à Jésus. Nous devons nous adresser au Seigneur. Il s’arrête chez Simon et prend soin d’elle. Jésus entre dans l’habitude des hommes et son regard est vers le peuple, vers nous qui ont besoin de lui.

Il reprend son habitude d’être avec son Père. Les lois et les traditions sont importantes pour nous pour mieux comprendre notre histoire de foi. Si ces chemins ne nous amène pas vers le Seigneur, nous devons utiliser nos intelligences pour suivre notre propre chemin. Aujourd’hui Jésus trouve que le chemin proposé par la tradition n’a pas assez pour lui d’être avec son Père.

Voilà il est avec son Père seul, en prière. Même si Job qui est totalement désespéré, n’a pas voulu d’être enfermé en solitude. C’est vrai que la journée est lourde pour nous, mais nous pouvons toujours faire confiance dans le Seigneur. C’est ici la tradition nous aidera à vivre notre foi pleinement.

Comme le peuple de Capharnaüm, marchons vers le Seigneur à sa rencontre dans notre liberté, qui nous répondra toujours positivement. Imitons le Seigneur dans sa prière et dans sa joie d’être avec son Père. Que cette prière nous donne le courage et l’espérance dont nous cherchons quotidiennement. Remettons nous dans le même chemin de prière et de service qui nous assurera la joie et la paix.

En ce jour, nous te suivons Seigneur dans ta prière. Nous accueillons pour nous l’annonce de ta Bonne nouvelle ; et nous te prions pour qu’elle nous transforme au plus profond de nous-mêmes pour mieux l’annoncer aux autres. Amen

Gospel text (Mc 1,29-39):

On leaving the synagogue, Jesus went to the home of Simon and Andrew with James and John. As Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with fever, they immediately told him about her. Jesus went to her and taking her by the hand, raised her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. That evening at sundown, people brought to Jesus all the sick and those who had evil spirits: the whole town was pressing around the door. Jesus healed many who had various diseases, and drove out many demons; but He did not let them speak, for they knew who He was.

Very early in the morning, before daylight, Jesus went off to a lonely place where He prayed. Simon and the others went out, too, searching for him; and when they found him they said, «Everyone is looking for you». Then Jesus answered, «Let's go to the nearby villages so that I may preach there too; for that is why I came». So Jesus set out to preach in all the synagogues throughout Galilee; He also cast out demons.

Homily

The cry of Job is the cry of good people in our present time. We live in a world desperate and discouraged. It is in this world that the gospel of the day demonstrates the need to proclaim the Good News, the Gospel of hope that Jesus brings us through the baptized people who declare themselves as Christian. God created the world and found it good. The presence of God is always visible to those who believe in this presence. For a believer, there is always a reason to hoped. God will never abandon.

In this desperate world, how can we announce this Good News of God’s presence? It is by bringing Jesus to the people and the people to Jesus. How can we bring Jesus to the people? It is through our words and our actions, by our presence, our support and doing everything in the name of Jesus. If we believe that we are sent by the Father, it is always possible to bring Jesus to our brothers and sisters through our witnessing Christian life.

For the Christian, a life fully engaged and committed to the will of the Father, not an option that we can choose freely, but an obligation by our being as Christian. That is to say, for every good Christians that we are, we cannot be Christians otherwise. A life fully rooted in God, which stimulates every action. St. Paul tells us that it is impossible of considering a Christian life that is not fully committed to the will of the Father.

To proclaim the Gospel, where can we recharge our energy? In today’s gospel we find Jesus alone with His Father in prayer, we discover that Jesus found His source of energy from this prayer. Thus for us too, this prayer will give us the sufficient energy to announce the Good News. My dear friends, we must learn to pray, pray with perseverance. Learn to restore our relationship with God, the source of our Christian faith.

The Gospel of the day tells us that Jesus traveled throughout the city announcing the Gospel and expelling demons. We must expel the demons of individualism, selfishness, and any kind of isolation and separation from this world. Jesus never isolated the people. He alsays wished that we live together and praise the Father, the creator.

Our silence before injustice or a sick person, is in truth not only passive participation, but from time to time, unfortunately our participation is active in the isolation of individuals who suffer in our society.
Jesus wants to announce to the entire world the love of the Father and wished to unite all that was separated by sin and disobedience. Let our life be a sign of God’s presence in this world. Let us work for the unity and for the development of God’s creation. Amen.
