Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint

Luc 4,24-30.

Dans la synagogue de Nazareth, Jésus déclara : « Amen, je vous le dis : aucun prophète ne trouve un accueil favorable dans son pays.
En vérité, je vous le dis : Au temps du prophète Élie, lorsque pendant trois ans et demi le ciel retint la pluie, et qu’une grande famine se produisit sur toute la terre, il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël ;
pourtant Élie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d’entre elles, mais bien dans la ville de Sarepta, au pays de Sidon, chez une veuve étrangère.
Au temps du prophète Élisée, il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël ; et aucun d’eux n’a été purifié, mais bien Naaman le Syrien. »
À ces mots, dans la synagogue, tous devinrent furieux.
Ils se levèrent, poussèrent Jésus hors de la ville, et le menèrent jusqu’à un escarpement de la colline où leur ville est construite, pour le précipiter en bas.
Mais lui, passant au milieu d’eux, allait son chemin.

Le message

Si vous n’êtes pas voleur, pourquoi avez-vous la peur de policier? La colère des membres de synagogue nous montre leur mauvaise foi et leur incapacité de reconnaitre la présence de Dieu en Jésus Christ.

La veuve de Sarepta qui a cru dans un homme totalement inconnu et Naaman le Syrien s’est déplacé dans un pays d’ennemi après avoir écouté la parole de son escale, se lèveront contre notre génération qui refuse de se réconcilier les uns les autres que Dieu nous propose comme un moyen d’avoir la paix dans le monde.

Si nous voulons d’être sauvés, nous devons avoir la même foi de la veuve de Sarepta et de Naaman. Quand le Seigneur viendra, trouvera-t-Il la foi en nous ?

Gospel Reading: Luke 4:24-30

24 And he said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country. 25 But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land; 26 and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian." 28 When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. 29 And they rose up and put him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. 30 But passing through the midst of them he went away.

The message

Jesus is giving us two models to imitate and these models strangely come from a foreign land. We need theses foreigners to tell us our weakness and foolishness in our discernment. How stupid can we be that these foreigners come and get healed, profits from us, while we remain always complaining the unavailability of the same resource that they come and profit?

Many of us don’t see what we have and give lot of attention on those things that we don’t have. Thus in some time, we lose even the very little that we have. The parable of ten talents very often becomes a reality in us.

The faith of Zarephath and Naaman is a waking call for us. The widower believed in an unknown person and Naaman believed his servant girl and took a voyage to an enemy land. God doesn’t ask us to take such risk, rather believe on these life stories and come back to Him.
