Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint

Luc 12,54-59.

S’adressant aussi aux foules, Jésus disait : « Quand vous voyez un nuage monter au couchant, vous dites aussitôt qu’il va pleuvoir, et c’est ce qui arrive.
Et quand vous voyez souffler le vent du sud, vous dites qu’il fera une chaleur torride, et cela arrive.
Hypocrites ! Vous savez interpréter l’aspect de la terre et du ciel ; mais ce moment-ci, pourquoi ne savez-vous pas l’interpréter ?
Et pourquoi aussi ne jugez-vous pas par vous-mêmes ce qui est juste ?
Ainsi, quand tu vas avec ton adversaire devant le magistrat, pendant que tu es en chemin mets tout en œuvre pour t’arranger avec lui, afin d’éviter qu’il ne te traîne devant le juge, que le juge ne te livre à l’huissier, et que l’huissier ne te jette en prison.
Je te le dis : tu n’en sortiras pas avant d’avoir payé jusqu’au dernier centime. »

Le message

Nous partageons parfaitement le souci de saint Paul : nous ne faisons pas tout ce que nous désirons, particulièrement faire du bien. Pourtant, le Seigneur nous affirme que Dieu nous a habillés avec son intelligence et avec cette intelligence, nous sommes capables de savoir lire les signes du temps et nous ne devons que mettre en pratique tout ce que l’intelligence nous fait apprendre.

Aujourd’hui la vie et le message du Seigneur sont pour nous la preuve que Dieu est avec nous et Il prend soin de nous. C’est dans cette certitude que notre foi trouve sa force et son espérance. La foi nous aide à nous réconcilier avec le Seigneur en nous nous réconciliant avec nos frères et sœurs. La réconciliation nous aide à rendre visible cet amour divin qui nous anime et nous guide.

Scripture: Luke 12:54-59

54 He also said to the multitudes, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, `A shower is coming'; and so it happens. 55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, `There will be scorching heat'; and it happens. 56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? 57 "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. 59 I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper."

The message

The first reading of the day may help us to understand our weakness and the necessity to remain attached to the Lord. Saint Paul reminds us that our body is weak and the mind is strong. Though we desire to do good, at time we crumble by doing just the opposite. With a strong faith foundation, we will have the courage to do what the Lord asks us to do.

Jesus is reminding us that God has given us sufficient intelligence to see the time and discern what is best for us and for the people of God. If we allow our intelligence to guide us, with a firm faith in the Lord, it is possible that we may profit the grace the Lord has accorded to us, to do always what is good and pleasing before the eyes of the Lord.

People with faith can help us to read the present time in the light of the Lord and with the true interpretation of these signs available to all, we may be able to know God and love Him. Why to wait for the sings to love and forgive? The life and the message of the Lord are not sufficient for us?
