Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 12, 1-7)

Comme la foule s'était rassemblée par dizaines de milliers, au point qu'on s'écrasait, Jésus se mit à dire, en s'adressant d'abord à ses disciples : « Méfiez-vous bien à cause du levain des pharisiens, c'est-à-dire de leur hypocrisie. Tout ce qui est voilé sera dévoilé, tout ce qui est caché sera connu. Aussi tout ce que vous aurez dit dans l'ombre sera entendu au grand jour, ce que vous aurez dit à l'oreille dans le fond de la maison sera proclamé sur les toits. Je vous le dis, à vous mes amis : ne craignez pas ceux qui tuent le corps, et après cela ne peuvent rien faire de plus. Je vais vous montrer qui vous devez craindre : craignez celui qui, après avoir tué, a le pouvoir d'envoyer dans la géhenne. Oui, je vous le dis : c'est celui-là que vous devez craindre. Est-ce qu'on ne vend pas cinq moineaux pour deux sous ? et pas un seul n'est indifférent aux yeux de Dieu. Quant à vous, même vos cheveux sont tous comptés. Soyez sans crainte : vous valez plus que tous les moineaux du monde. »

Le message

S’il y a une chose qui menace du monde d’aujourd’hui, c’est la peur et toute sorte de peur. Saint Jean Paul II a dit au jeunes, « N’a y pas peur.» L’évangile du jour nous invite à avoir confiance dans le Christ notre Seigneur qui nous aime.

Pourtant la crainte du Seigneur, est une bonne chose pour les chrétiens. La crainte de ne pas s’éloigner du Père, de ne pas perdre notre âme, de ne pas perdre la confiance, l'espérance et la peur de perdre le sens de notre existence.

Gospel text (Lc 12,1-7):

Such a numerous crowd had gathered that they crushed one another. Then Jesus spoke to his disciples in this way, «Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered that will not be uncovered, or hidden that will not be made known. Whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in daylight, and what you have whispered in hidden places, will be proclaimed from the housetops. I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who put to death the body and after that can do no more. But I will tell you whom to fear: Fear the One who after killing you is able to throw you into hell. This one you must fear. Don't you get five sparrows for two pennies? Yet not one of them has been forgotten by God. Even the hairs of your head have been numbered. So do not fear: are you not worth more than a flock of sparrows?».

The message

Many of us live with lots of fear and refuse to profit the life as children of the Father and to be a liberated person. Jesus does remind us of the need of this fear of losing the soul. What man can profit from this life, if he loses his soul?

There is one more truth that Jesus is revealing to us today. Even though everything seems to be hidden to us, one day everything will be revealed, the persons and their intentions. So why to hide things from others and why to break our heads to know everything around us? God will help us to understand all that we should know in this life. Let live as a liberated child of God.
