Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Marc

En ce temps-là,
quand Jésus enseignait dans le Temple,
il déclarait :
« Comment les scribes peuvent-ils dire
que le Messie est le fils de David ?
David lui-même a dit, inspiré par l’Esprit Saint :
Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur :
“Siège à ma droite
jusqu’à ce que j’aie placé tes ennemis
sous tes pieds !”
David lui-même le nomme Seigneur.
D’où vient alors qu’il est son fils ? »
Et la foule nombreuse l’écoutait avec plaisir.

Le message

Si nous nous refusons à croire que Jésus est le Fils du Père, nous Le verrons comme un homme par excellence avec les pouvoirs divin. La vie et la mort sont devant nous. Nous devons faire le choix. Si nous choisissons la vie, nous devons croire en Jésus Christ, car Il est notre Vie, notre Chemin et notre vérité.

Gospel text (Mc 12,35-37): As Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he said, «The teachers of the Law say that the Messiah is the son of David. How can that be? For David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit declared: ‘The Lord said to my Lord: sit at my right until I put your enemies under your feet’. If David himself calls him Lord, in what way can he be his son?». Many people came to Jesus and listened to him gladly.

The message

The faith is a gift from God. With this Faith, hope and joy come along. If we refuse to believe that God is there with us, and Jesus is the promised one, then we can’t experience the hope and the joy that this faith can give to us.

Life is filled with choices. Good and bad, joy and sadness, present and past, all are in front of us. The faith in Jesus will help us to choose the good, the joy, and will be able to live in the present time acknowledging the past and looking forward towards the future, without being slave, neither to the past, nor to the future.

Today’s gospel is not dealing whether Jesus is the son David, rather, Jesus is the one sent by the Father to save us. Do we believe that this Jesus is there to save us, or at least do we believe that He is there with us? Since He is the Goodness, let us be prudent in our choice and learn to attach ourselves with this goodness.
