Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint

Luc 19,1-10.

Entré dans la ville de Jéricho, Jésus la traversait.
Or, il y avait un homme du nom de Zachée ; il était le chef des collecteurs d’impôts, et c’était quelqu’un de riche.
Il cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, mais il ne le pouvait pas à cause de la foule, car il était de petite taille.
Il courut donc en avant et grimpa sur un sycomore pour voir Jésus qui allait passer par là.
Arrivé à cet endroit, Jésus leva les yeux et lui dit : « Zachée, descends vite : aujourd’hui il faut que j’aille demeurer dans ta maison. »
Vite, il descendit et reçut Jésus avec joie.
Voyant cela, tous récriminaient : « Il est allé loger chez un homme qui est un pécheur. »
Zachée, debout, s’adressa au Seigneur : « Voici, Seigneur : je fais don aux pauvres de la moitié de mes biens, et si j’ai fait du tort à quelqu’un, je vais lui rendre quatre fois plus. »
Alors Jésus dit à son sujet : « Aujourd’hui, le salut est arrivé pour cette maison, car lui aussi est un fils d’Abraham.
En effet, le Fils de l’homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu. »

Le message

Comme hier, nous sommes encore à Jéricho. Jésus voit tout ce qui est invisible aux hommes, pourtant dans la pleine aire. Il s’arrête et il invite Zachée. Tout mouvement s’arrête ici avec Jésus. A partir de cette rencontre il y a encore un autre mouvement qui recommence avec un nouveau regard totalement diffèrent, non seulement de Zachée, mais aussi du peuple qui l’entoure. Le regard de miséricorde et d’amour n’a pas encore changé et avec Zachée nous sommes invités. Il y a la joie de recevoir et d’accueillir.

Il est important pour un élite de la société d’agir comme un enfant innocent qui cherche à tout prix voir Jésus. Pouvons-nous agir comme lui. Jésus prend temps avec une pause, une pause mystérieuse qui se termine avec une conversion radical mais aussi joyeuse. Il faut apprendre à faire de pause.

Scripture: Luke 19:1-10

1 He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today." 6 So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it they all murmured, "He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." 8 And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold." 9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost."

The message

There are plenty of movements in all the direction. Jesus is moving and the people with Him. Zacchaeus climbs up and called to come down. All the movement stops here and restarts to terminate in the house of Zacchaeus with conversion and joy.

Let us look at Zacchaeus and take initiative to know the truth and to our surprise will receive the invitation to dine with Jesus in a mysterious way and this will end with conversion and unification with God, certainly it will end up joyful.

Little pause of Jesus has awaken not only Zacchaeus, but all, in a different level. If we remain with Jesus, this little pause will help us to see the invisible Zacchaeus, standing in front of us. In life, little pause always does good, good for us and for all others, which will lead us into conversion, for a joyful ending in the Lord. This process of pause, though seems to be waste and very painful, with Jesus, He will by His presence will transform it into a deeper joy that the world will never be able to give us.
