Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint

Luc 20,27-40.

En ce temps-là, quelques sadducéens – ceux qui soutiennent qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection – s’approchèrent de Jésus

et l’interrogèrent : « Maître, Moïse nous a prescrit : Si un homme a un frère qui meurt en laissant une épouse mais pas d’enfant, il doit épouser la veuve pour susciter une descendance à son frère.

Or, il y avait sept frères : le premier se maria et mourut sans enfant ;

de même le deuxième,

puis le troisième épousèrent la veuve, et ainsi tous les sept : ils moururent sans laisser d’enfants.

Finalement la femme mourut aussi.

Eh bien, à la résurrection, cette femme-là, duquel d’entre eux sera-t-elle l’épouse, puisque les sept l’ont eue pour épouse ? »

Jésus leur répondit : « Les enfants de ce monde prennent femme et mari.

Mais ceux qui ont été jugés dignes d’avoir part au monde à venir et à la résurrection d’entre les morts ne prennent ni femme ni mari,

car ils ne peuvent plus mourir : ils sont semblables aux anges, ils sont enfants de Dieu et enfants de la résurrection.

Que les morts ressuscitent, Moïse lui-même le fait comprendre dans le récit du buisson ardent, quand il appelle le Seigneur le Dieu d’Abraham, Dieu d’Isaac, Dieu de Jacob.

Il n’est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants. Tous, en effet, vivent pour lui. »

Alors certains scribes prirent la parole pour dire : « Maître, tu as bien parlé. »

Et ils n’osaient plus l’interroger sur quoi que ce soit.

Le message

La vie du ciel ne ressemblera pas celle de la terre, car nous vivrons comme les anges totalement en Dieu et par Dieu. Sur la terre nous avons besoin des autres pour vivre notre vie pleinement et accomplir tout ce que Dieu nous a demandé dès le commencement de la création. La finalité de cette vie est de nous unir avec Dieu d’une manière radicale et parfaite à l’image de Jésus, le Fils unique. Pour cela nous choisissons les moyens disponibles et discernons avec Dieu le meilleur chemin.

Le mariage est une institution qui nous aide à vivre ensemble et elle peut nous orienter vers Dieu avec les autres en respectant les droits des uns et les autres. On découvre Dieu, le Dieu vivant pour les siècles et qui nous fait vivre. Pourtant cette vie n’est pas la finalité, elle doit nous amener vers ce Dieu qui est invisible, mais se rend visible à travers les hommes et les femmes qui s’aiment les uns les autres.

L’évangile du jour nous invite à regarder au-delà tout ce qui est visible la vie charnelle et fixer notre regard à tout ce qui est invisible, la vie éternelle. Ce regard nous donnera l’espérance inépuisable et nous vivrons éternellement dans le Seigner dès ici-bas sur la terre.

Scripture: Luke 20:27-40

27 There came to him some Sadducees, those who say that there is no resurrection, 28 and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and died without children; 30 and the second 31 and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. 32 Afterward the woman also died. 33 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife."

34 And Jesus said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; 35 but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die any more, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. 38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him." 39 And some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well." 40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

The message

Today’s gospel helps us to orient our life towards heaven, a life fully in God and by God. Marriage and human relationship are essential part of today’s society and all need not be there in. Jesus is telling us that this society may depend on such institution or oneday over throw it, but God looks much beyond of all these institutions. Jesus is reminding us the finality of human life in its unification with the Father, as He Himself is united with Him.

To achieve this, we may choose to go through the wringer joyfully and willingly, and sometime with pain we propose the same to others, in love for them, though painful at present to endure, knowing well that at the end that the fruit will be sweeter and pleasant for a wonderful adventure of the beautiful life that God has gifted to us. In this process we discover not only ourselves and the gifts that we have received from God through the humanity, but also how much God loves us and accompanies us in our adventure of life, though we haven’t chosen it wilfully.

Let us thus fix our eyes on the invisible truth of life than visible realities which changes the colour very often. It is important that we go beyond the sensible needs, by getting closer to spiritual intimacy with God, where we will be accountable.
