Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Luc 11,27-28.

En ce temps-là, comme Jésus était en train de parler, une femme éleva la voix au milieu de la foule pour lui dire : « Heureuse la mère qui t’a porté en elle, et dont les seins t’ont nourri ! »
Alors Jésus lui déclara : « Heureux plutôt ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la gardent ! »

La contemplation

Seigneur comment est-il possible t’entendre ? J’avoue pourtant que je ressens ta présence par tout. Mon intelligence me la confirme. Tout ce qui se bouge devant moi, il me semble que tu ne les fasses bouger que pour moi. Ils dansent et chantent pour toi. En voyant tout cela, je vois CELUI qui les fait bouger. Oui Seigneur, ils sont heureux et tu veux que je sois aussi heureux. Comme cette femme qui crie, de temps en temps je cris vers toi dans la joie. Quelle joie d’avoir ce cadeaux de FOI que l’Esprit Saint a semé en moi ! Aujourd’hui tu m’invites à écouter ta Parole, une parole d’amour et de miséricorde. Donne-moi le courage de la mettre en pratique. C'est ainsi je pourrais grader cette joie éternellement.

« Heureuse celle qui a cru à l'accomplissement des paroles qui lui furent dites de la part du Seigneur » (Lc 1,45)

Les hommes de l'ancienne alliance étaient sous le régime des symboles. Pour nous, par la grâce du Christ présent dans la chair, la vérité elle-même s'est mise à resplendir. Et pourtant, par rapport au monde à venir, nous vivons encore d'une certaine manière dans l'ombre de la vérité. L'apôtre Paul écrit : « Partielle est notre connaissance, partielle notre prophétie » (1Co 13,9) et « Non, je n'estime pas avoir déjà saisi » (Ph 3,13). En effet, comment ne pas faire de différence entre celui qui marche par la foi et celui qui se trouve dans la claire vision ? Ainsi « le juste vit de la foi » (Ha 2,4 ;Rm 1,17) — c'est le bienheureux qui exulte dans la vision de la vérité ; maintenant l'homme saint vit encore à l'ombre du Christ... Et elle est bonne, cette ombre de la foi ; elle filtre la lumière aveuglante pour notre regard encore enténébré et prépare notre œil à supporter la lumière. Il est écrit en effet : « Dieu a purifié leurs cœurs par la foi » (Ac 15,9). La foi donc n'a pas pour effet d'éteindre la lumière, mais de la conserver. Tout ce que les anges contemplent à découvert, l'ombre de la foi le garde pour moi ; elle le fait reposer dans son sein pour le révéler au moment voulu. N'est-ce pas une bonne chose qu'elle tienne enveloppé ce que tu ne peux pas encore saisir sans voile ?

D'ailleurs la mère du Seigneur vivait elle aussi dans l'ombre de la foi, puisqu'on lui a dit : « Heureuse es-tu, toi qui as cru » (Lc 1,45). Et du corps du Christ elle a aussi reçu une ombre, selon le message de l'ange : « La puissance du Très-Haut te prendra sous son ombre » (Lc 1,35). Cette ombre n'a donc rien de méprisable puisque c'est la puissance du Très-Haut qui la projette. Oui vraiment, il y avait dans la chair du Christ une force qui couvrait la Vierge de son ombre, afin que l'écran de ce corps vivifiant lui permette de supporter la présence divine, de soutenir l'éclat de la lumière inaccessible, chose impossible à une femme mortelle. Cette puissance a dompté toute force adverse ; la force de cette ombre chasse les démons et protège les hommes. Puissance vraiment vivifiante et ombre vraiment rafraîchissante ! Et nous, c'est bien dans l'ombre du Christ que nous vivons, puisque nous marchons par la foi et que nous recevons la vie en étant nourris de sa chair.

27 As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts that you sucked!" 28 But he said, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"

The contemplation

‘Blessed and happy’ Lord you wish that I have this joy of being a Christian, be blessed by you and hold this happiness for me and for others. Today you teach me that this joy can be held for the eternity, only by hearing your Word and putting them in practice. Though sometime I find difficult to hear and listen to your Word, I do see you everywhere I look. Up above the sky and deep in every being I see you active and moving. I see them as if you have created for me, and some time, I feel they are only for me. Sorry for this egoism. I get an impression that the creation dance and sing for you. I too with them sing your glory, though with my limitedness.

Today you affirm that you mother was happy not only because she carried you, rather she was blessed to listen the promise of the Lord, and by saying YES to the angel, she could be faithful to this word till the last moment of life. You saw her happy and you reveal to us, why she was happy. It is in her and through humanity we associate to your humanity and divinity. Mother Mary help us to listen to your SON as you have listened to Him, share with us your patience when we find difficult to understand, and the grace necessary to contemplate the Word of God.

“Blessed is she who believed that what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled” (Lk 1,45)

Our ancestors possessed only shadows and images, whereas the truth itself shines on us by the grace of Christ present in the flesh, so also no one will deny that in relation to the world to come, we still live in the shadow of the truth, unless he wishes to deny what the apostle Paul asserts: "our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect;" (1Cor 13,9) or when he says: "I do not reckon myself to have got hold of it yet. " (Phil 3,13). Why should there not be a distinction between him who walks by faith and him who walks by light? Hence the just man lives by faith (Hab 2,4; Rom 1,17) - the blessed rejoices in the vision; the holy person here below lives in the shadow of Christ... That the faith is shadowy is a blessing, it tempers light to the eye's weakness and prepares the eye for the light for it is written: "God cleansed their hearts by faith." (Acts 15,9). Faith, therefore, does not quench the light but protects it. What it may be that the angel sees, is preserved for me by the shadow of faith, stored up in its trusty breast, until it is revealed in due time. If you cannot yet grasp the naked truth is it not worthwhile to possess it wrapped in a veil?

The Lord's Mother herself lived in the shadow of faith, for she was told: "Blessed are you who believed," (Lk 1,45). Even the body of Christ was a shadow for her, as implied in the words: "The power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow,” (Lk 1,35). That is no mean shadow which is formed by the power the Most High. Assuredly there was power in the flesh of Christ that overshadowed the Virgin, since by means of the envelope of his vivifying body she was able to bear his majestic presence, and endure the unapproachable light, something impossible to mortal woman. That was power indeed by which every opposing might was overcome. Both the power and the shadow put the demons to flight and became a shelter for men: an invigorating power surely, a shadow radiating coolness! We therefore who walk by faith live in the shadow of Christ; we are fed with his flesh as the source of our life.
