Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Jean

(Jn 20, 2-8)

Le matin de Pâques, Marie Madelaine courut trouver Simon-Pierre et l'autre disciple, celui que Jésus aimait, et elle leur dit :

« On a enlevé le Seigneur de son tombeau, et nous ne savons pas où on l'a mis. »

Pierre partit donc avec l'autre disciple pour se rendre au tombeau. Ils couraient tous les deux ensemble, mais l'autre disciple courut plus vite que Pierre et arriva le premier au tombeau. En se penchant, il voit que le linceul est resté là ; cependant il n'entre pas. Simon-Pierre, qui le suivait, arrive à son tour. Il entre dans le tombeau, et il regarde le linceul resté là, et le linge qui avait recouvert la tête, non pas posé avec le linceul, mais roulé à part à sa place.

C'est alors qu'entra l'autre disciple, lui qui était arrivé le premier au tombeau. Il vit, et il crut.

Le message

« Il vit et il crut. » Jean nous présente le beau témoignage de la profession de sa foi. La croyance est née non seulement de tout ce qu’on voit, mais également de tout ce qu’on vit. Si Jean était capable de pouvoir professer sa foi à la résurrection, c’est que sa vie était remplie de l’amour du Seigneur. C’est dans cet amour que Jean a laissé la parole du Seigneur s’imprégner au plus profond de lui-même. C’est ainsi que la foi de Jean s’est nourrie et a grandi. Laissons Dieu agir en nous et nous vivrons pleinement dans le Seigneur.

Dieu, qui as dévoilé pour nous les mystère de ton Verbe grâce à ton Apôtre saint Jean, rends-nous capable de comprendre et d’aimer les merveilles qu’il nous a fait connaitre.

1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Mag'dalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

2 So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."

3 Peter then came out with the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.

4 They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first;

5 and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.

6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying,

7 and the napkin, which had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.

8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed;

The message

The disciple, who was loved by Jesus, leaves the place to Peter to enter first and looks in him a direction. Peter, who was always ready with the response or an initiative, gives Jean the place to proclaim his faith.

Faith is an interior conviction on something invisible, but very much present. The belief of Jean in the resurrection is born from the empty tomb, but filled with numerous signs of the resurrection. It is in this emptiness that Jean finds the Lord, very much living, not only in him, but also out side of him.

Faith is capable of finding the fullness in the emptiness. It is because of this Faith that many Christians live their life fully. Are we ready?
