Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Matthieu

Jésus monta en barque, traversa le lac et alla dans sa ville de Capharnaüm.
Et voilà qu'on lui apportait un paralysé, couché sur une civière. Voyant leur foi, Jésus dit au paralysé : « Confiance, mon fils, tes péchés sont pardonnés. »
Or, quelques scribes se disaient : « Cet homme blasphème. »
Mais Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit : « Pourquoi avez-vous en vous-mêmes des pensées mauvaises ? Qu'est-ce qui est le plus facile ? de dire : 'Tes péchés sont pardonnés', ou bien de dire : 'Lève-toi et marche' ? Eh bien ! pour que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a le pouvoir, sur la terre, de pardonner les péchés...» alors, il dit au paralysé : « Lève-toi, prends ta civière, et rentre chez toi. »
L'homme se leva et rentra chez lui. En voyant cela, la foule fut saisie de crainte, et elle rendit gloire à Dieu qui a donné un tel pouvoir aux hommes.

Le message

Dieu n’abandonne personne. Il est avec nous et Il nous guide. De temps en temps sa Parole et ses exigences sont dures que l’homme trouve difficile de les suivre. Tous ceux et celles qui ont écouté cette Parole de Dieu et l’a mis en pratique ont ressenti la présence de Dieu dans leurs vie.

Même si nous écoutons la Parole de Dieu habituellement, nous avons besoin d’une bonne qualité de discernement. Si nous avons un regard de foi, notre discernement sera juste et correcte et que nous reconnaitrons la présence de Dieu facilement.

Gospel text (Mt 9,1-8)

Jesus got back into the boat, crossed the lake again, and came to his hometown. Here they brought a paralyzed man to him, lying on a bed. Jesus saw their faith and said to the paralytic, «Courage, my son! Your sins are forgiven». Then some teachers of the Law said to themselves, «This man insults God». Jesus was aware of what they were thinking, and said, «Why have you such evil thoughts? Which is easier to say: ‘Your sins are forgiven’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? You must know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins». He then said to the paralyzed man, «Stand up! Take your stretcher and go home». The man got up, and went home. When the crowds saw this, they were filled with awe and praised God for giving such power to human beings.

The message

Jesus looks at the paralytic person and is moved with pity. He opens for him not only the physical health, but also the door to heaven, by forgiving his sins. Any human being who looks with love and concern will recognize this act and will appreciate.

Sadly we have many people around us who look further, rather in a wrong direction and judge the good people, as if they are bad. In such situation, Jesus looks at them and points to them their smallness and goes further doing good to the people.

All are essentially good and are called to be good. Why allow the evil and negative thoughts to dominate our being?
