Homélie

La fête de Pâques nous approche et quarante jours de préparation vont se terminer dans quels que jours. La promesse faite à notre père Abraham va se réaliser en nous. Le prophète Ezéchiel nous l’assure : « Je mettrai en vous mon esprit, et vous vivrez ». Saint Jean nous le répète que Jésus est la source de notre vie, la Vie.

Comme d’habitude je vous invite à prendre un des personnages de ce récit pour que cet évangile soit d’une aide à nous ouvrir de notre enfermement personnel et de nos tombeaux social.

Les disciples

Regardons les disciples et en particulier le comportement de Thomas. Ils suivent le Seigneur fidèlement sans rien comprendre. Comme les disciples d’Emmaüs, la sécheresse intérieure peut nous conduire en dehors de la ville ou elle peut nous forcer de nous enfermer en nous-mêmes. Dans ce moment de sécheresse, nous devons d’être avec le Seigneur.

Jésus s’adresse à ses disciples alors ouvertement. "A cause de vous, pour que vous croyiez." Ils sont impliqués dans la démarche de Jésus. Ils doivent en découvrir la raison. Ils doivent adhérer à sa volonté dans la foi. Ils doivent croire. Il faut croire.

Marthe et Marie

Si Marthe représente l’action, Marie représente la contemplation. C’est Marthe qui prend l’initiative et elle a besoin de parler et de discuter avec le Seigneur. Pour Marie, elle n’en a pas besoin. Elle se jette à ses pieds avec une interrogation très personnelle mais profonde est sa foi, « Seigneur, si tu avais été là, mon frère ne serait pas mort. » Dans son silence Seigneur participer à sa douleur et il pleure. Jean nous présente le visage humain de Jésus. Jésus participe à nos souffrances et à nos peines. Même s’Il a pris son temps, Il est là avec elles. Il est avec nous. Nous devons l’imiter. Comme lui, nous devons participer aux souffrances des nos frères et sœurs.

Lazare

Il représente notre enfermement humain qui cherche la liberté. La réponse du Seigneur est simple, « Déliez-le, et laissez-le aller. » Il est venu pour nous libérer, pour nous rendre la lumière. Il est notre Lumière. La résurrection de Lazare est entourée d’une grande tendresse, d’amitié et de cordialité. "Celui que tu aimes", est-il dit à Jésus. Jésus nous aime. Chaque jour Il crie vers nous, « Lazare, viens dehors ! ». Nous devons nous sortir de notre égoïsme, d’individualisme, et d’arrogance.

La semaine dernière nous avons cherché l’identité de Jésus. Qui est-il pour moi ? D’une certaine façon, l’Incarnation devient tangible et prend tout son sens. Il est l’ami, l’homme qui pleure, en même temps qu’il est la Résurrection et la vie, parce que Dieu est amour ! Je crois Seigneur, Tu es notre résurrection. Amen.

Easter we approach and forty days of preparation are getting closer. On this day I invite you all for mediation on different personages in this gospel.

The disciples

Let's look at the way disciples react and in particular the behavior of Thomas, who expresses the desire to die with Jesus . They follow the Lord faithfully without understanding the grand event to come. Like the disciples of Emmaus escaping from Jerusalem , wherever we come accore the opposition or challenges we may be tempted to run out of the city by accusing the events happening around us or it can force us to lock into ourselves and close the access to everyone . In this time of drought and discouragement, we need to be with the Lord. Like the disciples of Emmaus, we will understand things little later, but surely we will be revealed.
Jesus speaks to his disciples so openly . " Because of you , that you may believe . " They are involved in the process of Jesus. They must find out why . They must adhere to its commitment in faith. They must believe . We must believe, it is the first step towards Faith.

Martha and Mary

If Martha is for the action, Mary represents contemplation. It is Martha who takes the initiative and she needs to talk and discuss with the Lord. She continues to ask questions and clarifications. For Mary, she does not need . She throws herself at his feet with a very personal question but profound is her faith, " Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died . " Without questioning not clarifying the details, she is content to be with the Lord. There is a beautiful exchange of feelings, without uttering a word of consolation. In silence Lord participate in her pain and crying.

Today John presents the human face of Jesus. We are very often worried about the divinity of Jesus. In this humanity, Jesus participates in our sufferings and sorrows. Even if he took his time four days in today’s gospel , He is there with them. He is with us . We must imitate this positive response of the Lord and His human touch which the humanity is longing every day. Like him, we must participate in the sufferings of our brothers and sisters.

Lazar

It is our human confinement forced to silence which is seeking freedom. The Lord's answer is simple, " Loose him , and let him go. " He came to liberate us, to make us light. It is our Light . The resurrection of Lazarus is surrounded by great tenderness , friendship and cordiality. " Whom you love ," it is said to Jesus. Jesus loves us. Every day He calls to us, "Lazarus , come out! " . We need to get us out of our selfishness , individualism , and arrogance.

Last week we through the gospel of saint John where seeking the identity of Jesus . Who is He and for me what is the personal touch in this relationship? Somehow , the Incarnation becomes tangible and makes sense in today’s gospel . He is the friend , the man who cries, while He is the resurrection and the life, because God is love! I believe Lord, You are our resurrection .
