Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Matthieu

(Mt 22, 1-14)

Jésus disait en paraboles : « Le Royaume des cieux est comparable à un roi qui célébrait les noces de son fils. Il envoya ses serviteurs pour appeler à la noce les invités, mais ceux-ci ne voulaient pas venir. Il envoya encore d'autres serviteurs dire aux invités : 'Voilà : mon repas est prêt, mes bœufs et mes bêtes grasses sont égorgés ; tout est prêt : venez au repas de noce.' Mais ils n'en tinrent aucun compte et s'en allèrent, l'un à son champ, l'autre à son commerce ; les autres empoignèrent les serviteurs, les maltraitèrent et les tuèrent. Le roi se mit en colère, il envoya ses troupes, fit périr les meurtriers et brûla leur ville. Alors il dit à ses serviteurs : 'Le repas de noce est prêt, mais les invités n'en étaient pas dignes. Allez donc aux croisées des chemins : tous ceux que vous rencontrerez, invitez-les au repas de noce.' Les serviteurs allèrent sur les chemins, rassemblèrent tous ceux qu'ils rencontrèrent, les mauvais comme les bons, et la salle de noce fut remplie de convives. Le roi entra pour voir les convives. Il vit un homme qui ne portait pas le vêtement de noce, et lui dit : 'Mon ami, comment es-tu entré ici, sans avoir le vêtement de noce ?' L'autre garda le silence. Alors le roi dit aux serviteurs : 'Jetez-le, pieds et poings liés, dehors dans les ténèbres ; là il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.'
Certes, la multitude des hommes est appelée, mais les élus sont peu nombreux. »

Homélie

« Le Seigneur essuiera les larmes sur tous les visages, et par toute la terre il effacera l'humiliation de son peuple ; c'est lui qui l'a promis. » Chaque fois que nous sommes éprouvés par les découragements et désespérances, cette Parole du Seigneur peut nous apaiser. Cet apaisement sera possible seulement pour tous ceux et celles qui désire à vivre leur vie pleinement près du Seigneur. Une vie par et dans le Seigneur. Ce jour-là, les enseignements évangélique du nouveau testament et les conseils des prophètes de l’Ancient testament, deviendrons pour nous la norme de la vie et la règle quotidienne.

Si nous voulons participer à la noce du Seigneur, cet habit de vertu et la craint du Seigneur est obligatoire. Tous sont invités, certainement gratuit, mais il y a des conditions, essentiellement un engagement à l’amour qui s’exprime dans le pardon du prochain. C’est le vrai vêtement de la noce qui dépasse toute les vertus que nous pouvons acquérir dans notre vie. Saint Paul nous exhorte toujours cette règle de la vie. Si je n’ai pas la charité…………………………………………… ?

L’invitation du Seigneur se répète tous les jours, « 'Voilà : mon repas est prêt, mes bœufs et mes bêtes grasses sont égorgés ; tout est prêt : venez au repas de noce. » Nous devons rendre compte, pourtant que la porte d’entrée est étroite.

Mes amis, La parabole du jour se termine avec une question à un homme qui ne portait pas le vêtement de noce et un grand de sa part. Son silence nous affirme qu’il savait déjà l’obligation de ce vêtement de noce. Il n’y a même pas la question de l’ignorance, mais une omission volontaire. Même si le royaume des cieux est ouvert à tout le monde et même si tout le monde est invité au festin, si je ne tisse pas mon vêtement avec l’amour et pardon, je n’ai aucun droit à entrer dans ce royaume.

Si notre église est vide, parce qu’il y a beaucoup parmi nous (les chrétiens) qui ne s’habit pas avec ce vêtement de noce. Si nous nous habillions avec ce vêtement de noce, nous comprendrons les besoins de nos voisins et nous répondrons positivement à l’invitation du Seigneur en nous mettant aux services des autres.

Je voudrais terminer mon homélie avec une question qui peut nous aider à nous réveiller. « « Le Seigneur essuiera les larmes sur tous les visages, et par toute la terre il effacera l'humiliation de son peuple ; c'est lui qui l'a promis. » Somme-nous prêt à nous engager à actualiser cette promesse du Seigneur ?

Gospel text (Mt 22,1-14):

Jesus went on speaking to the chief priests and elders in parables: «This story throws light on the kingdom of heaven. A king celebrated the wedding of his son. He sent his servants to call the invited guests to the wedding feast, but the guests refused to come. Again he sent other servants ordering them to say to the invited guests: ‘I have prepared a banquet, slaughtered my fattened calves and other animals, and now everything is ready; come then, to the wedding feast’.

»But they paid no attention and went away, some to their fields, and others to their work. While the rest seized the servants of the king, insulted them and killed them. The king became angry. He sent his troops to destroy those murderers and burn their city.

»Then he said to his servants: ‘The wedding banquet is prepared, but the invited guests were not worthy. Go, then, to the crossroads and invite everyone you find to the wedding feast’. The servants went out at once into the streets and gathered everyone they found, good and bad alike, so that the hall was filled with guests.

»The king came in to see those who were at table, and he noticed a man not wearing the festal garment. So he said to him: ‘Friend, how did you get in without the wedding garment?’. But the man remained silent. So the king said to his servants: ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the dark where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth’. Know that many are called, but few are chosen».

Homily

"The Lord will wipe away tears from all faces, and all the earth it will erase the humiliation of his people; it is he who has promised. "When ever we are tested by discouragements and despairs, this Word of the Lord can soothe us. This appeasement will only be possible for all those who wish to live their lives fully with the Lord. Only they can profit and know to profit from this appeasement . Once we learn to live our life in and through the Lord, the evangelical teachings of the New Testament and the counsel of the prophets of the Old Testament, will automatically become the standard of living and be a daily rule of life.
If we want to participate in the wedding feast of the Lord, we have to dress up with the virtue and the fear of the Lord. Without this fear of not being close to the Lord, or the fear of doing something against the will of the Lord, this clothing of the wedding feast is not possible.

At the same time, all are welcome, certainly free, but there are conditions. Essentially, it a commitment to love which is expressed in forgiveness of our neighbors. For all those who find difficult to cloth them with a mystical and saintly life, this is the real wedding garment that passes all the virtues that we can acquire in our lives. Saint Paul exhorts us always this rule of life. If I do not have love ...................................................?
The Lord's call is repeated every day, "'Here it is: my meal is ready, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered; everything is ready: come to the wedding banquet. "We must realize, however, that the door to this wedding hall is narrow.
My friends, The Parable of the day ends with a question to a man who was not wearing a wedding garment and with a great silence on his part. His silence tells us that he already knew the obligation of that wedding garment. There was not even the question of ignorance but willful default. Although the kingdom of heaven is open to everyone and although everyone is invited to the banquet, and if I do not spin my clothes with love and forgiveness, I have no right to enter in to this wedding hall.

If our church is suffering, because, there are many of us (Christians) who do not dress themselves with this wedding garment. If we dress ourselves with this wedding garment of love and forgiveness, we will easily understand the needs of our neighbors and we will respond positively to the invitation of the Lord putting ourselves in the services of others.
Let me conclude my reflation with a question that can help us to wake up from our spiritual sleeping. "" The Lord will wipe away tears from all faces, and all the earth it will erase the humiliation of his people; it is He who has promised. "Are we ready to commit to engage to fulfill this promise of the Lord to our brothers and sisters, particularly all those who suffer?
