Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Marc 2,13-17.

En ce temps-là, Jésus sortit de nouveau le long de la mer ; toute la foule venait à lui, et il les enseignait. En passant, il aperçut Lévi, fils d’Alphée, assis au bureau des impôts. Il lui dit : « Suis-moi. » L’homme se leva et le suivit. Comme Jésus était à table dans la maison de Lévi, beaucoup de publicains (c’est-à-dire des collecteurs d’impôts) et beaucoup de pécheurs vinrent prendre place avec Jésus et ses disciples, car ils étaient nombreux à le suivre. Les scribes du groupe des pharisiens, voyant qu’il mangeait avec les pécheurs et les publicains, disaient à ses disciples : « Comment ! Il mange avec les publicains et les pécheurs ! » Jésus, qui avait entendu, leur déclara : « Ce ne sont pas les gens bien portants qui ont besoin du médecin, mais les malades. Je ne suis pas venu appeler des justes, mais des pécheurs. »

Le message

« Je ne suis pas venu appeler des justes, mais des pécheurs. » Jésus nous rappelle notre mission. De fait qu’Il a choisis ses Apôtres comme Lévi ou Mathieu, Il nous dit qu’Il a fait son choix. Il nous invite à lui imiter. Chez lui tous sont invités.

Si nous voulons agir comme Jésus, nous devons avoir son regard, un regard qui voit l’invisible, la pensée et le cœur des hommes. Demandons-Lui de partager avec nous son regard et de pouvoir discerner comme Lui.

Gospel text (Mc 2,13-17):

When Jesus went out again beside the lake, a crowd came to Him and He taught them. As he walked along, he saw a tax collector sitting in his office. This was Levi, the son of Alpheus. Jesus said to him, «Follow me». And Levi got up and followed Him. And it so happened that while Jesus was eating in Levi's house, tax collectors and sinners were sitting with Him and His disciples for there were indeed many of them. But there were also teachers of the Law of the Pharisees' party, among those who followed Jesus, and when they saw Him eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, «Why! He eats with tax collectors and sinners!». Jesus heard them and answered, «Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners».

The message

Jesus knows His mission and He choses, not the best in the eyes of the society, but the best in the eyes of God. By the very fact He went to the house of Mathew, it has disturbed the teachers of the Law. Jesus is teaching them the importance of merci and forgiveness.

In the house of the Lord, all are welcome. If we feel left behind by the society or abandoned by the friends, the Lord will be with us. This response of Jesus does console all of us. «Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners».

Why to hesitate to take His mission and transform it in to our own mission? And all the more, today He needs us.
