Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint

Luc 6,12-19.

En ces jours-là, Jésus s’en alla dans la montagne pour prier, et il passa toute la nuit à prier Dieu.
Le jour venu, il appela ses disciples et en choisit douze auxquels il donna le nom d’Apôtres :
Simon, auquel il donna le nom de Pierre, André son frère, Jacques, Jean, Philippe, Barthélemy,
Matthieu, Thomas, Jacques fils d’Alphée, Simon appelé le Zélote,
Jude fils de Jacques, et Judas Iscariote, qui devint un traître.
Jésus descendit de la montagne avec eux et s’arrêta sur un terrain plat. Il y avait là un grand nombre de ses disciples et une grande multitude de gens venus de toute la Judée, de Jérusalem, et du littoral de Tyr et de Sidon.
Ils étaient venus l’entendre et se faire guérir de leurs maladies ; ceux qui étaient tourmentés par des esprits impurs retrouvaient la santé.
Et toute la foule cherchait à le toucher, parce qu’une force sortait de lui et les guérissait tous.

Le message

En ce jour de la fête des Apôtres, nous nous rappelons notre vocation chrétienne, notre mission et notre devoir en tant qu’enfant de Dieu. Nous tous sommes choisis, appelés, invités, consacrés et envoyés comme ces Apôtres du Seigneur à annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle.

Puisque Jésus est la Lumière du monde, nous devons rayonner sa lumière. Il nous envoie comme le sel de la terre, pour ajouter le goût du Seigneur, pour préserver tout ce qui est du bien et de bon.

Comme le Seigneur nous devons découvrir la volonté de son Père dans la prière et dans la contemplation. L’évangile nous dit que le Seigneur passa toute la nuit à prier Dieu. Lorsque la nuit tombe dans notre vie, nous devons avantage d’être avec le Seigneur, la Lumière qui enlèvera nos ténèbres.

12 In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles; 14 Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, 15 and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. 17 And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; 18 and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all.

The message

We are called, anointed and sent by the Lord in mission, particularly where He himself has to go. It is certainly sure that we represent the Lord in our mission. Since the mission of the Lord was essentially to do the will of the Father, we are imperatively called not only to follow Jesus, but also through Jesus, know the Father and His will.

Jesus’ in prayer does help us to understand the role of prayer to comprehend the will of the Father. Since He has chosen these disciples and raised them to be His Apostles after a deep prayer, it is certainly important to realize how the Lord has chosen them and from where He got the inspiration. Thus the meditation, contemplation will be the key for our mission too.

God has chosen simple people to communicate the message of God in a simple way. The simplicity in our life and relationship is important. We are called to be like the children. Let us try to be simple today and announce the Good News not only by our words, but very importantly by our witnessing life, filled with love and compassion.
