Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 1, 26-38)

L’ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth, à une jeune fille, une vierge, accordée en mariage à un homme de la maison de David, appelé Joseph ; et le nom de la jeune fille était Marie.
L'ange entra chez elle et dit : « Je te salue, Comblée-de-grâce, le Seigneur est avec toi. »
À cette parole, elle fut toute bouleversée, et elle se demandait ce que pouvait signifier cette salutation.
L'ange lui dit alors : « Sois sans crainte, Marie, car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu. Voici que tu vas concevoir et enfanter un fils ; tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus. Il sera grand, il sera appelé Fils du Très-Haut ; le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père ; il régnera pour toujours sur la maison de Jacob, et son règne n'aura pas de fin. »

Marie dit à l'ange : « Comment cela va-t-il se faire, puisque je suis vierge ? »
L'ange lui répondit : « L'Esprit Saint viendra sur toi, et la puissance du Très-Haut te prendra sous son ombre ; c'est pourquoi celui qui va naître sera saint, et il sera appelé Fils de Dieu. Et voici qu'Élisabeth, ta cousine, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils dans sa vieillesse et elle en est à son sixième mois, alors qu'on l'appelait : 'la femme stérile'. Car rien n'est impossible à Dieu. »
Marie dit alors : « Voici la servante du Seigneur ; que tout se passe pour moi selon ta parole. »

Le message

En ce jour de la fête de la Vierge Marie, nous attentons comme elle, le Sauveur du monde. Ce n’est pas assez d’attendre, mais nous devons l’attendre comme la Vierge Marie. L’évangile nous dit que l’Esprit Saint l’avait protégé.

L’évangile du jour nous affirme que Marie a reconnu non seulement la valeur du message communiqué, mais aussi le messager. Elle a humblement accepté qu’elle vivait dans le Seigneur.

Il faut apprendre à dire comme elle, « Voici la servante du Seigneur ; que tout se passe pour moi selon ta parole. » Cette soumission à la volonté de Dieu est essentielle dans cette attende sainte.

Gospel text (Lc 1,26-38):

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth. He was sent to a young virgin who was betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the family of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. The angel came to her and said, «Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you». Mary was troubled at these words, wondering what this greeting could mean.

But the angel said, «Do not fear, Mary, for God has looked kindly on you. You shall conceive and bear a son and you shall call him Jesus. He will be great and shall rightly be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the kingdom of David, his ancestor; he will rule over the people of Jacob forever and his reign shall have no end». Then Mary said to the angel, «How can this be if I am a virgin?». And the angel said to her, «The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the holy child to be born shall be called Son of God. Even your relative Elizabeth is expecting a son in her old age, although she was unable to have a child, and she is now in her sixth month. With God nothing is impossible». Then Mary said, «I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me as you have said». And the angel left her.

The message

On this solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we desire to be like her, in her purity and docility to the word of God. We need the courage to say, “I am the hand made of the Lord, let it be done to me as you have said.”

We have decided to mediate on the theme of waiting for the Lord. Mary was waiting for this savior, without knowing that it is she who is chosen by the Lord to carry His Son. It is not enough to wait, but we have to wait like the wise virgins who were fully prepared. Otherwise, even if the Lord comes and knocks at our door, we may not open the door.

Commencement de l’Évangile de Jésus,
Christ, Fils de Dieu.
Il est écrit dans Isaïe, le prophète :
Voici que j’envoie mon messager en avant de toi,
pour ouvrir ton chemin.
Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert :
Préparez le chemin du Seigneur,
rendez droits ses sentiers.
Alors Jean, celui qui baptisait,
parut dans le désert.
Il proclamait un baptême de conversion
pour le pardon des péchés.

Toute la Judée, tous les habitants de Jérusalem
se rendaient auprès de lui,
et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le Jourdain,
en reconnaissant publiquement leurs péchés.
Jean était vêtu de poil de chameau,
avec une ceinture de cuir autour des reins ;
il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.
Il proclamait :
« Voici venir derrière moi
celui qui est plus fort que moi ;
je ne suis pas digne de m’abaisser
pour défaire la courroie de ses sandales.
Moi, je vous ai baptisés avec de l’eau ;
lui vous baptisera dans l’Esprit Saint. »

Homélie

Le premier dimanche d’Avant nous avons médité sur le thème ‘Veiller’. Nous avons veillé que la préparation d’avant se passe bien et que nous puissions accueillir le Sauveur d’une manière digne. Aujourd’hui et toute la semaine, nous allons méditer sur le thème d’attendre’, d’attendre car nous dit le prophète Isaïe, « Voici votre Dieu ! » Voici le Seigneur Dieu ! », et nous disons, Maranatha, Vient Seigneur Jésus.

Le temps d’Avant essentiellement est une attende, une attende pour le Seigneur. L’Avant aussi est un moment d’intériorisation, c’est un moment de conversion. C’est un temps qui nous invite à progresser dans l’amour divin. Que cet amour nous fasse progresser de plus en plus dans la connaissance vraie et la parfaite clairvoyance qui nous feront discerner ce qui est plus important dans la vie quotidienne.

Marc commence son évangile, ‘commencement de la Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus, Christ, le Fils de Dieu’. Donc c’est un commencement qui est déjà commencé, il y a une progression du règne de Dieu, la Bonne Nouvelle était dans son époque l’intronisation royale, Jésus le Roi d’univers, notre sauveur, le Christ, qui est le Fils de Dieu.

Le prophète Isaïe et Marc nous parlent d’une Voix du désert. Cette voix du désert est la Voix du Seigneur, une voix qui nous purifie. Dans cette purification, Jean Baptiste, nous amènera vers Jésus, la source du baptême, le baptême dans le feu, dans l’Esprit Saint et le baptême du Sang versé, dans lequel les disciples sont invités à y participer.

C’est pourquoi ce temps d’Avant est un temps réservé à la préparation du cœur, un cœur digne d’accueillir le sauveur du monde. C’est un moment fort offert aux chrétiens pour qu’ils se remettent sur le bon chemin proposé par le Seigneur.

Mes amis, crions de joie, le Seigneur va venir nous sauver. Le prophète Isaïe proclame le message de consolation. Que nous soyons consolés par le Seigneur. Pour nous consoler, nous devons nous avancer vers le désert et dans le vide, où nous serons seuls avec le Seigneur. Dans cette semaine, nous allons nous plonger tout entier dans cette eau de baptême pour nous purifier pour que nous puissions participer au Baptême de feu, au Baptême de l’Esprit Saint. Recevons ce baptême de l’Esprit Saint, un baptême de feu pour que nous puissions accueillir le don de Dieu en Jésus Christ. Amen.

Gospel text (Mc 1,1-8):

This is the beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is written in the book of Isaiah, the prophet, «I am sending my messenger ahead of you to prepare your way. Let the people hear the voice calling in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord, level his paths».

So John began to baptize in the desert; he preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. All Judea and all the people from the city of Jerusalem went out to John to confess their sins and be baptized by him in the river Jordan.

John was clothed in camel's hair and wore a leather garment around his waist. His food was locusts and honey. He preached to the people saying, «After me comes one who is more powerful than I am; I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. As for me, I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandals».

Homily

The first Sunday of Advent, we meditated on 'Watching'. In this watching, We prepared ourselves to welcome the Savior in a worthy manner. In this week, we will mediate on the theme of ‘waiting ',

Advent is the time to wait, essentially a wait for the Lord. As the people of Israel who rejected the Lord, the Light of the world, let us not to repeat the same history. The Avent is also a moment of internalization; it is a time of conversion. It is a time that invites us to grow in God's love. That love makes us grow more and more in real knowledge and perfect foresight that will make us discern what is most important in everyday life.

The prophet Isaiah and Mark speaks of a voice in the desert. The voice of the desert is the voice of the Lord, a voice that cleanses us from solitude and contemplation. During the second week of Advent, the evangelist leads us to John the Baptist, who will bring us to Jesus, the source of baptism, the baptism of fire, in the Holy Spirit. This advent is a time reserved for the preparation of the heart, a heart worthy of hosting the savior of the world.

My friends, shout for joy, the Lord will come and save us. The prophet Isaiah proclaims the message of consolation, that we may be comforted by the Lord. Let us move us towards the desert and in a vacuum, where we are alone with the Lord. In this week we will immerse ourselves completely in water to cleanse us. Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, a baptism of fire for us to accept the gift of God in Jesus Christ. Amen.

(Mt 9, 35 – 10, 1.5a.6-8)

En ce temps-là,
Jésus parcourait toutes les villes et tous les villages,
enseignant dans leurs synagogues,
proclamant l’Évangile du Royaume
et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité.
Voyant les foules, Jésus fut saisi de compassion envers elles
parce qu’elles étaient désemparées et abattues
comme des brebis sans berger.
Il dit alors à ses disciples :
« La moisson est abondante,
mais les ouvriers sont peu nombreux.
Priez donc le maître de la moisson
d’envoyer des ouvriers pour sa moisson. »
Alors Jésus appela ses douze disciples
et leur donna le pouvoir d’expulser les esprits impurs
et de guérir toute maladie et toute infirmité.
Ces douze, Jésus les envoya en mission
avec les instructions suivantes :
« Allez vers les brebis perdues de la maison d’Israël.
Sur votre route,
proclamez que le royaume des Cieux est tout proche.
Guérissez les malades, ressuscitez les morts,
purifiez les lépreux, expulsez les démons.
Vous avez reçu gratuitement :
donnez gratuitement. »

Le message

Nous tous sont appelés à annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle: Dieu est avec nous. Comment le peuple de Dieu peut reconnaitre cette présence de Dieu ? C’est par notre vie, par notre témoignage et particulièrement par notre amour.

Veillons cette gratuité de la vie, la Vie en Dieu. Nous avons reçu gratuitement et nous devons donner gratuitement, y compris dans la vie du couple et aussi dans la vie consacrée.

Reconnaissons notre mission confiée et rappelons-nous cette mission : « Allez vers les brebis perdues de la maison d’Israël.
Sur votre route,
proclamez que le royaume des Cieux est tout proche.
Guérissez les malades, ressuscitez les morts,
purifiez les lépreux, expulsez les démons.

Gospel text (Mt 9,35—10,1.6-8):

Jesus went around all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom, and he cured every sickness and disease. When he saw the crowds he was moved with pity, for they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, «The harvest is abundant but the workers are only few. Ask the master of the harvest to send workers to gather his harvest».

Then he called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority over the unclean spirits to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. «Go instead to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. Go and proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, cleanse the lepers, and drive out demons. You received this as a gift, so give it as a gift».

The message

All the baptized are called to announce the Good News. The Good News of the proximity of the presence of God. How can the people of God feel this presence of God? It is by our witnessing life, our life fully immerged in God. It is essentially a life filled with love, a love which expresses its existence par our capacity to forgive.

Let us not forget the mission entrusted to us: «Go instead to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. Go and proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, cleanse the lepers, and drive out demons. You received this as a gift, so give it as a gift».

En ce temps-là,
Jésus était en route ;
deux aveugles le suivirent, en criant :
« Prends pitié de nous, fils de David ! »
Quand il fut entré dans la maison,
les aveugles s’approchèrent de lui,
et Jésus leur dit :
« Croyez-vous que je peux faire cela ? »
Ils lui répondirent :
« Oui, Seigneur. »
Alors il leur toucha les yeux, en disant :
« Que tout se passe pour vous selon votre foi ! »
Leurs yeux s’ouvrirent,
et Jésus leur dit avec fermeté :
« Attention ! que personne ne le sache ! »
Mais, une fois sortis,
ils parlèrent de lui dans toute la région.

Le message

Nous avons une impression que les aveugles identifient la présence du Seigneur et ils crient vers le Seigneur en Le reconnaissant qu’Il est la Lumière du monde, alors les autres attendent encore un signe venant du ciel. Ils croient que le Seigneur est capable de leur apporter la lumière. Tout se commence avec la foi, et le Seigneur leur répond positivement.

Aujourd’hui les aveugles nous aident à nous ouvrir et regarder la présence du Seigneur parmi nous. Veillons que nous ne soyons pas aveugles.

Gospel text (Mt 9,27-31):

As Jesus moved on from Capernaum, two blind men followed him, shouting, «Son of David, help us!». When he was about to enter the house, the blind men caught up with him, and Jesus said to them, «Do you believe that I am able to do what you want?». They answered, «Yes, sir!».

Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, «As you have believed, so let it be». And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus gave them a stern warning, «Be careful and let no one know about this». But as soon as they went away, they spread the news about him through the whole area.

The message

It is astonishing to realize that it is the blinds, who help us to open our eyes. In their blindness they could identify the presence of Christ and could cry towards Him. Their faith has saved them, say the Lord.

Let us watch our faith and verify whether we have the courage to cry out to the Lord? It is important to watch our blindness and our incapacity to identify the presence of the Lord.

It is not enough to have faith, but we should know to cry to the Lord, profess our faith: “Yes Lord, I believe.”

(Mt 7, 21.24-27)

En ce temps-là,
Jésus disait à ses disciples :
« Ce n’est pas en me disant : “Seigneur, Seigneur !”
qu’on entrera dans le royaume des Cieux,
mais c’est en faisant la volonté de mon Père qui est aux cieux.
Ainsi, celui qui entend les paroles que je dis là
et les met en pratique
est comparable à un homme prévoyant
qui a construit sa maison sur le roc.
La pluie est tombée, les torrents ont dévalé,
les vents ont soufflé et se sont abattus sur cette maison ;
la maison ne s’est pas écroulée,
car elle était fondée sur le roc.
Et celui qui entend de moi ces paroles
sans les mettre en pratique
est comparable à un homme insensé
qui a construit sa maison sur le sable.
La pluie est tombée, les torrents ont dévalé,
les vents ont soufflé, ils sont venus battre cette maison ;
la maison s’est écroulée,
et son écroulement a été complet. »

Le message

« Veiller » veillons notre fondement de la vie. Notre maison est-elle construite sur le roc, roc d’amour et de pardon ? Dieu est-Il le Maître de notre maison ?

Quelle est la volonté de Dieu ? Savons-nous discerner la volonté de Dieu ? Comment allons-nous la mettre en pratique ?

Si notre vie n’est pas cohérant avec la Parole de Dieu, une Parole qui donne la vie, Jésus nous met en garde, que notre spiritualité, notre prière ne serve rien. Car devant un échec, d’une tentation ou d’un problème, notre foi va tomber comme cette maison construite sur le sable.

Gospel text (Mt 7,21.24-27):

Jesus said to his disciples, «Not everyone who says to me: Lord! Lord! will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.

»So, then, anyone who hears these words of mine and acts accordingly is like a wise man, who built his house on rock. The rain poured, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house, but it did not collapse because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not act accordingly, is like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain poured, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house; it collapsed, and what a terrible fall that was!».

The message

We have to watch, whether our faith is built on a solid rock; love and forgiveness. It is in this love and forgiveness that we can accomplish the will of the Father. If our life is immerged in this divine love, we can withstand any kind of rain, flood, and wind.

Our spiritual life should be coherent with what we believe. Otherwise, we will be very much regular with the mass, prayers and spiritual activities, but very far away from the Lord of love. Jesus is warning such people who say Lord, Lord, but do nothing to establish the Kingdom of God. Let us watch, so that we may not be counted with these double life people.

Jésus arriva près de la mer de Galilée.
Il gravit la montagne et là, il s’assit.
De grandes foules s’approchèrent de lui,
avec des boiteux, des aveugles, des estropiés, des muets,
et beaucoup d’autres encore ;
on les déposa à ses pieds et il les guérit.
Alors la foule était dans l’admiration
en voyant des muets qui parlaient, des estropiés rétablis,
des boiteux qui marchaient, des aveugles qui voyaient ;
et ils rendirent gloire au Dieu d’Israël.
Jésus appela ses disciples et leur dit :
« Je suis saisi de compassion pour cette foule,
car depuis trois jours déjà ils restent auprès de moi,
et n’ont rien à manger.
Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun,
ils pourraient défaillir en chemin. »
Les disciples lui disent :
« Où trouverons-nous dans un désert assez de pain
pour rassasier une telle foule ? »
Jésus leur demanda :
« Combien de pains avez-vous ? »
Ils dirent :
« Sept, et quelques petits poissons. »
Alors il ordonna à la foule de s’asseoir par terre.
Il prit les sept pains et les poissons ;
rendant grâce,
il les rompit,
et il les donnait aux disciples, et les disciples aux foules.
Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés.
On ramassa les morceaux qui restaient :
cela faisait sept corbeilles pleines.

Le message

‘Veiller’, Portons attentions sur le regard des disciples : « Où trouverons-nous dans un désert assez de pain pour rassasier une telle foule ? ». Ils cherchent tout ce qu’ils n’ont pas. Veillons ce comportement, purement humain, qui cherche le vide et tente de le remplir.

‘Veiller’, Regardons le comportement du Seigneur : « Combien de pains avez-vous ? »
Il cherche tout ce que nous avons et Il utiliser les moyens dont Dieu nous a déjà accordé. Ce comportement fait naitre en nous un sentiment de remerciement avec pleine d’espérance.

Ne courons pas derrière du Seigneur comme cette foule qui veut profiter de tout ce que le Seigneur peut leur donner. Un jour ils vont lui abandonner à la Croix. Imitons le comportement du Seigneur : « Je suis saisi de compassion pour cette foule, car depuis trois jours déjà ils restent auprès de moi, et n’ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, ils pourraient défaillir en chemin. »

En ce jour de la fête de François Xavier, prions pour tous et toutes qui portent ce nom. N'oublions pas de prier pour les missionnaires qui travaillent dans un pays étranger.

Gospel text (Mt 15,29-37):

Jesus went to the shore of Lake Galilee, and then went up into the hills where he sat down. Great crowds came to him, bringing the dumb, the blind, the lame, the crippled, and many with other infirmities. The people carried them to the feet of Jesus, and he healed them. All were astonished when they saw the dumb speaking, the lame walking, the crippled healed and the blind able to see; so they glorified the God of Israel.

Jesus called his disciples and said to them, «I am filled with compassion for these people; they have already followed me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they may faint on the way». His disciples said to him, «And where shall we find enough bread in this wilderness to feed such a crowd?». Jesus said to them, «How many loaves do you have?». They answered, «Seven, and a few small fish». So Jesus ordered the people to sit on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the small fish and gave thanks to God. He broke them and gave them to his disciples, who distributed them to the people.

They all ate and were satisfied, and the leftover broken pieces filled seven wicker baskets.

The message

Watch. Let us look in to the behavior of the disciples and watch our behavior: «And where shall we find enough bread in this wilderness to feed such a crowd?». They search what they don’t have and they will evidently be sad and disappointed. Very often in our lives too we search what we don’t have and we too are disappointed and discouraged.

Let us look at the behavior of Jesus: «How many loaves do you have?». Jesus is searching what we have. Here, there is happiness and contentment. In our life too, if we look all that we have and received in our lives, we will be happy and joyful. We have the choice of being happy or sad. Why to blame God for what we don’t have or haven’t received?

Watch: Let us look in to the way Jesus is looking at the crowd: «I am filled with compassion for these people; they have already followed me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they may faint on the way». It is in this compassion, Jesus looks for the means. Even if we don’t have the immediate means to supply, we can always look from where we can get them. Let us watch, whether we have the same out-look in life?

On this great feast of saint Francis Xavoier, let pray for all those have Xavier as their name. In a particular way for all the missionaries who work in a foreign country.

(Lc 10, 21-24)

À l'heure même, Jésus exulta de joie
sous l’action de l’Esprit Saint,
et il dit :
« Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre,
je proclame ta louange :
ce que tu as caché aux sages et aux savants,
tu l’as révélé aux tout-petits.
Oui, Père, tu l’as voulu ainsi dans ta bienveillance.
Tout m’a été remis par mon Père.
Personne ne connaît qui est le Fils, sinon le Père ;
et personne ne connaît qui est le Père, sinon le Fils
et celui à qui le Fils veut le révéler. »

Puis il se tourna vers ses disciples
et leur dit en particulier :
« Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vous voyez !
Car, je vous le déclare :
beaucoup de prophètes et de rois
ont voulu voir ce que vous-mêmes voyez,
et ne l’ont pas vu,
entendre ce que vous entendez,
et ne l’ont pas entendu. »

Le message

Veillez. Restons toujours dans ce thème. Si les enfants sont capables d’identifier la présence de Dieu parmi nous, et les adultes n’arrivent pas à le reconnaitre, il y a quelque chose importante qui nous manque.

La foule qui a suive le Seigneur n’était pas capable d’identifier la Lumière, mais c’était l’aveugle qui était à la porte de Jéricho qui a reconnu le Seigneur. Comme lui, nous devons prier, « Seigneur, que je voie ».

Veillons tout ce qui passe autour de nous, et nous reconnaitrons la présence de Dieu qui nous accompagne.

Gospel text (Lc 10,21-24):

Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and said, «I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and made them known to the little ones. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. I have been given all things by my Father, so that no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal him».

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said to them privately, «Fortunate are you to see what you see, for I tell you that many prophets and kings would have liked to see what you see but did not, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it».

The message

Let us remain always with our theme, ‘watching’. Jesus is giving thanks that His Father was visible to the little ones. Our watching is preciously of this behavior of little children. Let us remain always like these little children of God and we will be able to identify the presence of the Lord in our life. The stronger we feel this presence; the more our happiness will be multiplied.

Our watching is also related to the capacity to see God and His works in the events which pass around us. God’s people see always God’s work. If we are not able to God’s work, let us watch our credentials as children of God and change our way of life.

À ces mots, Jésus fut dans l’admiration
et dit à ceux qui le suivaient :
« Amen, je vous le déclare,
chez personne en Israël, je n’ai trouvé une telle foi.

Beaucoup viendront de l’orient et de l’occident
et prendront place avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob
au festin du royaume des Cieux. »

Le message - Veiller

Hier nous avons médié sur le thème ‘Veiller’. Nous le continuons à méditer toute la semaine. « « Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit, mais dis seulement une parole et mon serviteur sera guéri. » Cette foi d’un étranger nous interpelle et cette interpellation va réveiller notre foi.

Veillons notre parole, notre comportement et vérifions la profondeur de notre foi. Avons-nous la même foi ?

Gospel text (Mt 8,5-11):

When Jesus entered Capernaum, an army captain approached him to ask his help, «Sir, my servant lies sick at home. He is paralyzed and suffers terribly». Jesus said to him, «I will come and heal him». The captain answered, «I am not worthy to have you under my roof. Just give an order and my boy will be healed. For I myself, a junior officer, give orders to my soldiers. And if I say to one: ‘Go’, he goes, and if I say to another: ‘Come’, he comes, and to my servant: ‘Do this’, he does it».

When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those who were following him, «I tell you, I have not found such faith in Israel. I say to you, many will come from east and west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of heaven».

The message

The faith of this foreigner does help us to awake our faith in Jesus Christ. «I am not worthy to have you under my roof. Just give an order and my boy will be healed” This proclamation of faith that we repeat in every day mass does go in the routine of our spiritual activities.

Like this captain we have to go to the Lord and ask Him, to heal our infirmities and particularly our lack of faith. This week I will propose to my readers to meditate over the ‘watching’. This awaking like a good shepherd, will help us to grow deeper in Jesus Christ.

au chant du coq ou le matin ;
s’il arrive à l’improviste,

Homélie

L’Avant est un Temps de préparation à Noël. Si nous nous préparons seulement à Noël, nous vivrons dans le passé, dans notre tradition, et dans notre histoire. Cette histoire du salut ne s’arrête pas à la crête de Bethléem, nous la vivons encore aujourd’hui pour notre propre compte. Que cette préparation nous aide à continuer l’histoire du salut, en reconnaissant cet enfant inconnu. Ne rejetons pas nos frères et sœurs qui frappent à la porte sans s’arrêt. Puisque notre foi se fond dans la mort et dans la résurrection du Seigneur, cette préparation deviendra un support spirituel pour notre avenir et quand le Seigneur reviendra, Il nous trouvera dans la foi.

Comment pouvons-nous nous préparer ? Que devons-nous faire ? L’évangile du jour nous dit qu’en veillant et en priant. La demande du Seigneur est très claire. Réécoutons l’évangile du jour, « C’est comme un homme parti en voyage : en quittant sa maison, il a donné tout pouvoir à ses serviteurs, fixé à chacun son travail, et demandé au portier de veiller. Qui est ce portier qui doit veiller ?

Mes amis, nous sommes ce portier qui devons veiller dans notre société, la maison de Dieu. Veillez que les brebis, les brebis du Seigneur, ne soient pas s’égarer du Seigneur. Veillons que nous restions toujours à la porte, la porte qui fait enter les brebis du Seigneur. C’est en veillant nous joindrons notre prière avec la prière du prophète Isaïe. « Pourquoi, Seigneur, nous laisses-tu errer hors de tes chemins ? Pourquoi laisser nos cœurs s’endurcir et ne plus te craindre ? Reviens, à cause de tes serviteurs, des tribus de ton héritage ».

Croyons que Dieu est œuvre dans notre société. Assurons à nos frères et sœurs que le Seigneur ne nous abandonnera jamais. Je vous proposerais un mot clé pour cette semaine : Veillez. Veillons que nous ne nous éloignons pas de l’amour de Dieu. Goûtons cet amour et partageons-le par notre pardon. Veillons et prions pour nous-mêmes, afin de ne pas entrer au pouvoir de la tentation. Aide-nous Seigneur, nous te supplions, à devenir les veilleurs de notre société. C’est au cœur de notre vie de tous les jours que nous voulons t’accueillir. Garde-nous éveillés pour ne pas manquer ce rendez-vous que Tu nous donne en ce temps d’avant. Je vous souhaite une bonne préparation. Amen.

Homily

The Avant time is a immediate preparation for Christmas, for the birth of our savior, deliverer and redeemer in this little child of Mary and Joseph at Bethlehem. If we prepare just for Christmas, we will live in the past, in our tradition and in our history and we will grow old very quickly. Happily, this salvation history does not stop at the crest of Bethlehem; we still live today for our own account. This preparation helps us to continue the history of salvation, recognizing that unknown child, who knocks at our door daily that we reject very often without knowing the identity of the person who knocks. Let us not reject our brothers and sisters who knock on the door without stopping. Since our faith blends into the death and resurrection of the Lord, this preparation will become a spiritual support for our future and when the Lord comes, He will find us in the faith.

How can we prepare? What should we do? The Gospel of the day tells us in watching and praying. May be like ten virgins with their lamps waiting for the bridegroom? (Lc 21, 34-36)

Jésus parlait à ses disciples de sa venue : « Tenez-vous sur vos gardes, de crainte que votre cœur ne s'alourdisse dans la débauche, l'ivrognerie et les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour-là ne tombe sur vous à l'improviste. Comme un filet, il s'abattra sur tous les hommes de la terre. Restez éveillés et priez en tout temps : ainsi vous serez jugés dignes d'échapper à tout ce qui doit arriver, et de paraître debout devant le Fils de l'homme. »

Le message

Cet évangile nous fait entrer au temps d’Avant : « Tenez-vous sur vos garde ». Cette préparation nous aidera à accueillir le Seigneur tout puissance dans cet enfant, qui a besoin de Marie et Joseph.

L’évangile du jour nous parle indirectement sur la crainte de Dieu., « ainsi vous serez jugés dignes ». La vraie crainte de Dieu, c’est ce que nous ne nous éloignons pas de l’amour de Dieu. Notre vie n’est pas liée au jugement final, mais à l’amour de Dieu. Que nous ne soyons pas séparer de cet amour infini, à cause de notre ignorance.

Gospel text (Lc 21,34-36):

Jesus said to his disciples, «Be on your guard; let not your hearts be weighed down with a life of pleasure, drunkenness and worldly cares, lest that day catch you suddenly as a trap. For it will come upon all the inhabitants of the whole earth. But all that is bound to happen and to stand before the Son of Man».

The message

Jesus is asking us to be prepared. Be prepared to welcome Him in the form of a little baby, the savoir of the world reveals Himself in this little child who depends fully in Mary and Joseph. There is an inner message in this gospel. It is the fear of God. The fear is placed here as a fear of last judgment, “watch at all times and pray, that you may be able to escape.”

For me the real fear is not of this judgment, father not to be separated from the love of the Father. If Jesus is asking us to be prepared, it is that we may not go away from the Father. Since tomorrow we will begin our advent season, let us give little attention of this human behavior of seeking pleasures in life, which very often misleads us. Let us pray that we may not be separated from God.
