Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 5, 12-16)

Jésus était dans une ville quand survint un homme couvert de lèpre ; celui-ci, en voyant Jésus, tomba la face contre terre et lui demanda : « Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me purifier. »
Jésus étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit : « Je le veux, sois purifié. » À l'instant même, sa lèpre le quitta.
Alors Jésus lui ordonna de ne le dire à personne : « Va plutôt te montrer au prêtre et donne pour ta purification ce que Moïse a prescrit ; ta guérison sera pour les gens un témoignage. »
On parlait de lui de plus en plus. De grandes foules accouraient pour l'entendre et se faire guérir de leurs maladies. Mais lui se retirait dans les endroits déserts, et il priait.

Le message

Chaque fois que Jésus a ressenti en lui la gloire d’homme, il s’est retiré en prière. Dans cette prière il a rendu grâce à Dieu pour tout ce qu’Il a fait et Il la transforme la gloire humaine comme une gloire divine. Par sa parole et par son acte Il a transformé toute rencontre humaine comme une rencontre divine.

Par le baptême Il nous a fait naître en lui et nous a dignement élevé pour que nous puissions participés au baptême du sang. Le baptême du sang est une purification où nous arrivions nous offrir à Dieu comme une offrande pure, celle de Jésus.

Il nous dit toujours, « Je le veux, sois purifié ». Si nous n’avons cette volonté et humilité d’aller vers le Seigneur, nous ne l’entendrons jamais. Osons aller vers lui et demandons lui une purification par le baptême. du sang.

Gospel text (Lc 5,12-16):

One day in another town, a man came to Jesus covered with leprosy. On seeing him he bowed down to the ground, and said, «Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean». Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched the man and said, «Yes, I want it. Be clean». In an instant the leprosy left him. Then Jesus instructed him, «Tell this to no one. But go and show yourself to the priest. Make an offering for your healing, as Moses prescribed; that should be a proof to the people». But the news about Jesus spread all the more, and large crowds came to him to listen and be healed of their sickness. As for Jesus, he would often withdraw to solitary places and pray.

The message

We all need purification. Like this leper, we have to go to Jesus and ask Him to purify us. When we received our baptism, there was an implicit baptism of blood which we realize only in our later days after acquiring a matured Faith and deepening our relationship with the Lord.

Jesus has elevated us by our baptism as a worthy member of His Church to participate in His baptism of blood. All that we have to do is to stretch our hands towards Him, so that He may touch them and heal. He will make use of them as an instrument of peace and love.

This purification is imperative of all the believers who desire to follow Jesus radically and become Christ for others. Are we ready for this purification and prepared to participate in the baptism of Blood?

(Lc 4, 14-22)

Lorsque Jésus, avec la puissance de l'Esprit, revint en Galilée, sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région. Il enseignait dans les synagogues des Juifs, et tout le monde faisait son éloge.
Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait grandi. Comme il en avait l'habitude, il entra dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat, et il se leva pour faire la lecture. On lui présenta le livre du prophète Isaïe. Il ouvrit le livre et trouva le passage où il est écrit :
L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi parce que le Seigneur m'a consacré par l'onction. Il m'a envoyé porter la Bonne Nouvelle aux pauvres, annoncer aux prisonniers qu'ils sont libres, et aux aveugles qu'ils verront la lumière, apporter aux opprimés la libération, annoncer une année de bienfait s’accordée par le Seigneur.

Jésus referma le livre, le rendit au servant et s'assit. Tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux fixés sur lui. Alors il se mit à leur dire : « Cette parole de l'Écriture, que vous venez d'entendre, c'est aujourd'hui qu'elle s'accomplit. » Tous lui rendaient témoignage ; et ils s'étonnaient du message de grâce qui sortait de sa bouche.

Le message

Jésus nous affirme sa mission et Il nous explique comment il va rétablir le Royaume de Dieu, un royaume de l’amour.

Tous, étonnaient du message de grâce qui sortait de sa bouche. Aujourd’hui ils ont entendu un message d’amour. Ils ont vu en Jésus Christ une espérance qu’ils attendaient depuis les années.

Le monde attend encore ce message d’espérance et Jésus nous invite à répandre ce message d’amour qui donnera l’espérance au peuple de Dieu. Chaque fois que nous ouvrons nos bouches, que nos paroles soient une parole d’espérance et d’amour. C’est ainsi le monde connaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu et qu’il voie en nous la Lumière qui illumine.

Gospel text (Lc 4,14-22):

Jesus acted with the power of the Spirit, and on his return to Galilee the news about him spread throughout all that territory. He began teaching in the synagogues of the Jews and everyone praised him.

When Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, he entered the synagogue on the sabbath as he usually did. He stood up to read and they handed him the book of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus then unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written: «The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and new sight to the blind; to free the oppressed and announce the Lord's year of mercy».

Jesus then rolled up the scroll, gave it to the attendant and sat down, while the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he said to them, «Today these prophetic words come true even as you listen». All agreed with him and were lost in wonder, while he kept on speaking of the grace of God.

The message

Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit proclaims His mission. The mission is filled with love and it is in this love that He proclaims the liberation to the world.

Liberate man from worldly outlook and bring him closer to God, a life filled with divine approach is already part of Jesus ministry. The incarnation is a evident sign of God’s love and it is this love Jesus is inviting us to participate in His mission.

There is no doubt that when we go to people pushed by this divine love, they will see in us the living presence of God and they will give glory to God through the good works we do.

(Mc 6, 45-52)

Aussitôt après avoir nourri la foule, Jésus obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à le précéder sur l'autre rive, vers Bethsaïde, pendant que lui-même renvoyait la foule.
Quand il les eut congédiés, il s'en alla sur la montagne pour prier.
Le soir venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer et lui, tout seul, à terre.
Voyant qu'ils se débattaient avec les rames, car le vent leur était contraire, il vient à eux vers la fin de la nuit en marchant sur la mer, et il allait les dépasser.
En le voyant marcher sur la mer, les disciples crurent que c'était un fantôme et ils se mirent à pousser des cris, car tous l'avaient vu et ils étaient bouleversés. Mais aussitôt Jésus leur parla : « Confiance ! c'est moi ; n'ayez pas peur ! »
Il monta ensuite avec eux dans la barque et le vent tomba ; et en eux-mêmes ils étaient complètement bouleversés de stupeur, car ils n'avaient pas compris la signification du miracle des pains : leur cœur était aveuglé.

Le message

Ils n’avaient pas compris la signification du miracle des pains. Combien qu’il est la nôtre cette incompréhension ? Nous ne devons pas nous inquiets sur cette incompréhension, car c’est un mystère.

Tout ce qui est demandé de nous est s’aimer les uns les autres. C’est ainsi que reconnaitrons la présence de Dieu, la demeure de Dieu en nous. Pour ressentir cette présence de Dieu, nous devons nous unir devant Lui en prière. Jésus nous montre un bon exemple. Il est en prière. C’est dans cette prière que nous reconnaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu et c’est dans cette même prière que nous retrouverons la force en vivre.

Gospel text (Mc 6,45-52):

After the five thousand men were satiated, Jesus obliged his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, towards Bethsaida, while he himself sent the crowd away. And having sent the people off, he went by himself to the hillside to pray. When evening came, the boat was far out on the lake while he was alone on the land.

Jesus saw his disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, and before daybreak he came to them walking on the lake; and he was going to pass them by. When they saw him walking on the lake, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But at once he called to them, «Courage! It's me; don't be afraid». Then Jesus got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were completely astonished, for they had not really grasped the fact of the loaves; their minds were dull.

The message

If the disciples of Jesus didn’t understand the signification of the multiplication of bread, it is because they didn’t join Jesus in His prayer and it is a mystery. It is in divine prayer that human being can understand the divine mysteries. Jesus, who was fully united in God, finds the need to go back to His Father every time He finds himself elevated in a purely human glory. If every human glory is not raised up to heaven, then it will destroy the person. We have to rise up not only the human glory, but also our failures and difficulties. Thus we will be able to transform every part of our life as a sign of the Kingdom of God.

The divine mysteries reveal its divine truth through love and forgiveness. It is in this divine love that we are called to participate and share. It is in this prayer that we will be able to realize that we are children of God.

(Mc 6, 34-44)

Jésus, voyant une grande foule de gens sur le bord du lac, fut saisi de pitié envers eux, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis sans berger. Alors, il se mit à les instruire longuement.
Déjà l'heure était avancée ; ses disciples s'étaient approchés et lui disaient : « L'endroit est désert et il est déjà tard. Renvoie-les, qu'ils aillent dans les fermes et les villages des environs s'acheter de quoi manger. »
Il leur répondit : « Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. »
Ils répliquent : « Allons-nous dépenser le salaire de deux cents journées pour acheter du pain et leur donner à manger ? »
Jésus leur demande : « Combien avez-vous de pains ? Allez voir. » S'étant informés, ils lui disent : « Cinq, et deux poissons. »
Il leur ordonna de les faire tous asseoir par groupes sur l'herbe verte.
Ils s'assirent en rond par groupes de cent et de cinquante.
Jésus prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et, levant les yeux au ciel, il prononça la bénédiction, rompit les pains, et il les donnait aux disciples pour qu'ils les distribuent. Il partagea aussi les deux poissons entre eux tous.
Tous mangèrent à leur faim.
Et l'on ramassa douze paniers pleins de morceaux de pain et de poisson.
Ceux qui avaient mangé les pains étaient au nombre de cinq mille hommes.

The message

Le sauveur du monde répond non seulement au besoin spiritual, mais aussi au besoin quotidien. L’Eglise pose ce regard de Dieu sur son peuple et elle nous demande à y répondre. Comme les apôtres nous devons apporter nos petits pains au Seigneur, et Il les multipliera. Il ne s’arrête pas à nous dire « donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. » . Ecoutons cette Parole et mettons-la en pratique.

Gospel text (Mc 6,34-44): As Jesus went ashore he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them for they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began a long teaching session with them. It was now getting late, so his disciples came to him and said, «This is a lonely place and it is now late. You should send the people away and let them go to the farms and villages around here to buy themselves something to eat». Jesus replied, «You yourselves give them something to eat». They answered, «If we are to give them food, we must go and buy two hundred silver coins' worth of bread». But Jesus said, «You have some loaves: how many? Go and see». The disciples found out and said, «There are five loaves and two fish».

Then he told them to have the people sit down together in groups on the green grass. This they did in groups of hundreds and fifties. And Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish and, raising his eyes to heaven, he pronounced a blessing, broke the loaves and handed them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them. They all ate and everyone had enough. The disciples gathered up what was left and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces of bread and fish. Five thousand men had eaten there.

The message

Jesus is the God of compassion. He takes care of not only the spiritual needs, but all the human needs. Since He is sensitive to the needs of the people, He could see all the immediate needs of the people. He without stop is telling us, “You yourselves give them something to eat.” This is the Christian homework.

Very often we look all that we don’t have and we can’t do and today he is asking us to share with Him little bread that we have. He will multiply them. When we cry that we can’t do, there is a little effort that we can always do. Let us believe that little drops of water collected can quench the thirst of millions of people. Why don’t we believe on this little drop that the Lord the readiness of the Lord to multiply them?

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Matthieu

(Mt 4, 12-17.23-25)

Quand Jésus apprit l'arrestation de Jean Baptiste, il se retira en Galilée.
Il quitta Nazareth et vint habiter à Capharnaüm, ville située au bord du lac, dans les territoires de Zabulon et de Nephtali.
Ainsi s'accomplit ce que le Seigneur avait dit par le prophète Isaïe :
Pays de Zabulon et pays de Nephtali, route de la mer et pays au-delà du Jourdain, Galilée, toi le carrefour des païens :
le peuple qui habitait dans les ténèbres a vu se lever une grande lumière. Sur ceux qui habitaient dans le pays de l'ombre et de la mort, une lumière s'est levée.

À partir de ce moment, Jésus se mit à proclamer : « Convertissez-vous, car le Royaume des cieux est tout proche. »
Jésus, parcourant toute la Galilée, enseignait dans leurs synagogues, proclamait la Bonne Nouvelle du Royaume, guérissait toute maladie et toute infirmité dans le peuple.
Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie et on lui amena tous ceux qui souffraient, atteints de maladies et de tourments de toutes sortes : possédés, épileptiques, paralysés ; et il les guérit.
De grandes foules le suivirent, venues de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée, et de la Transjordanie.

Le message

Jésus annonce la conversion à travers les miracles. Le peuple amène tous ceux et celles qui souffrent à Jésus. Il enlève leur souffrance, Il leurs apporte la délivrance et Il les amène vers son Père.

Saint Jean nous aide à comprendre si nous sommes vraiment avec le Seigneur ou si nous appartenons au Seigneur. Il nous demande à porter nos attentions à nos actes et à nos paroles.

Avons-nous ce regard de compassion et d’amour comme Jésus Christ ? Comment répondons-nous aux besoins de nos frères et nos sœurs ?

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested,
he withdrew to Galilee.
He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea,
in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet
might be fulfilled:

Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles,
the people who sit in darkness
have seen a great light,
on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death
light has arisen.

From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say,
“Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

He went around all of Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness among the people.
His fame spread to all of Syria,
and they brought to him all who were sick with various diseases
and racked with pain,
those who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytics,
and he cured them.
And great crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, and Judea,
and from beyond the Jordan followed him.

The message

Jesus by His words and needs announces the Kingdom of God. He responds positively to the needs of the people, in particularly to the suffering. All that we are asked to do is, to identify the suffering people around us and bring them to Jesus and He will deliver them.

Today the basic question we have to ask is, are we really the people of God? Do we really belong to God? How can verify our status? In today’s first reading we have the answer for these questions. According to Saint John, the way we look at people, the language we use to communicate and the intentions and our acts will tell us, if we really belong to God. Let us spend some time in the examination of conscience and ask the Lord in silence.

Homélie

Aujourd’hui nous célébrons la fête de l’Epiphanie qui rend visible au monde la présence du Sauveur à travers ces mages qui viennent d’autre monde. Cette fête de l’Epiphanie nous affirme que le salut est universel.

L’enfant né est encore dans la mangeoire avec ses parents pour que le monde puisse l’adorer. La bonne nouvelle de sa naissance a déjà fait trembler le roi et le pouvoir de ce monde. Pourtant au regard des hommes, ce Dieu de puissant est invisible dans cet enfant qui est faible.

Les étoiles qui ont dirigé les mages vers le Sauveur du monde, sont les signes disponibles à tous, mais perçu seulement par les mages. Dieu nous donne les signes. Les évènements qui se passent dans ces jours et les témoignages des personnes, sont les signes que Dieu nous donne. Avons-nous ce regard des mages pour que nous puissions de les identifier ? Voir les signes de ce monde et faire confiance à ces signes donnés par le Seigneur n’est plus une option de la vie. Si nous voulons vivre notre foi pleinement, nous ne devons que les suivre.

Suivre les étoiles inconnues est un grand risque. Nous devons prendre des risques et quitter nos refuges. Aller vers les autres et frapper les portes des nos voisins, est un risque du jour. Sans cette ouverture, nous ne pouvons pas construire le Royaume de Dieu. « Allez vers le monde entier et annoncez la bonne nouvelle » est un devoir chrétien que nos frères et sœurs du monde ont oublié.

Comme les mages nous devons consulter et partager les informations reçues. C’est à travers nos témoignages dans notre vie quotidienne et en invitant nos voisins à partager notre bonheur que nous pouvons vivre en communion dans ce monde. Cette invitation et ce partage peuvent déranger les autres et nous aussi. Mais je vous assure mes frères et sœurs que ce dérange est pour le bien de nous et des autres. Un jour l’histoire nous le dira.

Ils ont ouvert leurs coffrets et lui offrent l’or, l’encense et la myrrhe. Nous devons ouvrir nos coffrets et lui offrir nos cadeaux. C’est nous-mêmes, notre vie, pas de passé car ce n’est pas nous appartient, pas de future, car ce n’est pas encore là et le présent, mon temps et mes bien. Ma présence, mon écoute, mon soutient, peuvent être ce cadeau que Dieu nous attend aujourd’hui.

Suivre le chemin des autres et sure est le règle du jour. Les mages sont partis par un autre chemin. De temps en temps, nous devons prendre les autres chemins, totalement inconnus. Le chemin moins traversé. Là nous seront fidèle, suivrons le nouveau chemin en gardant les yeux ouvertes aux signes du temps et nous feront confiance à la providence du Seigneur.

Ecoutons cette parole du prophète Isaïe, « Debout, Jérusalem ! Resplendis : elle est venue, ta lumière, et la gloire du Seigneur s'est levée sur toi. » Que cette nouvel an soit pour nous une année de grâce et de bonheur. Que le Seigneur nous bénisse et nous garde, Amen.

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, where through the mages God decides to reveal the Savior to the world. This feast of the Epiphany tells us that salvation is universal. And the presents presented to Jesus foretell us that He is the King, but divine and prepares Him for the last day, the crucifixion.

It is nice to see the child is in the manger with his parents so that the world could worship him. The three visitors are happy and their hearts a filled with joy and gratitude. At the same time this good news of his birth has already shaken the king and the powers of this world . However this powerful God still remains invisible in this child who is weak and left alone to be with the parents.

The star led the Magi to the Savior of the world. This sign is available to everyone and it is not a secret story, but only seen by the Magi . God gives us signs . The events that happen in these days and testimonies of people are the signs that God gives us today. We need this view of mages so that we can identify them. See signs of this world and trust these signs given by the Lord is not an option in life. If we want to live our faith fully , we need only to follow them by putting all our confidence in the Lord.

Follow the unknown stars is a big risk. But then life is filled with risks. Without taking risks in life, life will become stagnant. We must take risks and come out of our shelters. Go to the other and knock the doors of our neighbors is a risk of the day. People don’t like to be disturbed. Without it , we cannot build the Kingdom of God. "Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news" is a Christian duty that our brothers and sisters of the world have forgotten. It is worth taking the risk. Let us not run away from our responsibilities like prophet Jonas.

Like the Magi we should have the courage to share the information received. There many inventions and discoveries still remain with few rich and powerful people that other are deprived of God’s wonder work. It is through our sharing in our daily lives and inviting our neighbors to share our happiness that we can live in communion in the world. This invitation and sharing can disturb others and some time it may disturb us too But I assure you my brothers and sisters that this fraternal disturbances and sharing is for the good of ourselves and others. One day history will tell.

They opened their treasures and offered him gold, incense and myrrh. We must open our boxes and offer our gifts . Today God doesn’t seek these material gifts. It is ourselves , our life, our present life that we should give to Him. The past we can’t give to God because it is not ours , no future , because it is not there yet and now my time and myself, I can give to God . My presence, my hearing , my supports to our brothers and sisters, is the gift that God expects us today.
Follow the path of others and walk with certitude is the rule of the day . Mages went another way . From time to time , we must take other paths , completely unknown. The path less traversed . Here we will be faithful , follow the new path with your eyes open to the signs of the time and we will trust in the Lord's providence .

Let us once again listen to the words of the prophet Isaiah, "Arise , O Jerusalem! Shine : she came , thy light, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee . " May this new year be for us a year of grace and happiness. May the Lord bless us and keep us Amen.

(Jn 1, 35-42)

Jean Baptiste se trouvait de nouveau avec deux de ses disciples.

Posant son regard sur Jésus qui allait et venait, il dit : « Voici l'Agneau de Dieu. »

Les deux disciples entendirent cette parole, et ils suivirent Jésus.

Celui-ci se retourna, vit qu'ils le suivaient, et leur dit : « Que cherchez-vous ? » Ils lui répondirent : « Rabbi (c'est-à-dire : Maître), où demeures-tu ? »

Il leur dit : « Venez, et vous verrez. » Ils l'accompagnèrent, ils virent où il demeurait, et ils restèrent auprès de lui ce jour-là. C'était vers quatre heures du soir.

André, le frère de Simon-Pierre, était l'un des deux disciples qui avaient entendu Jean Baptiste et qui avaient suivi Jésus.

Il trouve d'abord son frère Simon et lui dit : « Nous avons trouvé le Messie (autrement dit : le Christ).

André amena son frère à Jésus. Jésus posa son regard sur lui et dit : « Tu es Simon, fils de Jean ; tu t'appelleras Képha » (ce qui veut dire : pierre).

Le message

Le baptême est une porte qui nous fait naître en Jésus Christ et nous devenons chrétiens. Comme André nous devons inviter nos frères et sœurs au repas du Seigneur. Là, il va s’adresser à nous en demandant, « que cherchez-vous » et Il nous invitera à sa demeure pour que nous vivions en lui.

Que cherchons-nous dans notre vie quotidienne et où nous le cherchons ? Dans cette cherche, nous ne sommes pas les seuls, il y en a les autres comme Pierre que le Seigneur l’élèvera et reconnaitra comme pilier de son Eglise.

(Jn 1,35-42):

As John was standing with two of his disciples, Jesus walked by, and John looked at him and said, «There is the Lamb of God». On hearing this, the two disciples followed Jesus. He turned and saw them following, and He said to them, «What are you looking for?». They answered, «Rabbi (which means Master), where are you staying?». Jesus said, «Come and see». So they went and saw where he stayed and spent the rest of that day with him. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard what John had said and followed Jesus. Early the next morning he found his brother Simon and said to him, «We have found the Messiah» (which means the Christ), and he brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, «You are Simon, son of John, but you shall be called Cephas» (which means Rock).

The message

Let us look at different persons in the gospel and see what we can do today. John identifies Jesus and his disciples follow Jesus. Are we ready to allow people to go closer to Jesus and remain behind in silence allowing God to do the rest?

Andrew, who has seen Jesus invites his brother and brings him to Jesus. Do we invite others to know Jesus more and bring them to Jesus?

The disciples who follow Jesus are confronted by a direct and personal question, “what are you looking for?” Jesus does ask the same question today. Do we have an answer to him?

The most important is Jesus and the way He acts. He looks at Peter. This look has a healing touch and a delivering hope, which transforms a person. How do we look at people and what is the transformation in their lives?

(Jn 1, 29-34)

Comme Jean Baptiste voyait Jésus venir vers lui, il dit : « Voici l'Agneau de Dieu, qui enlève le péché du monde ; c'est de lui que j'ai dit : Derrière moi vient un homme qui a sa place devant moi, car avant moi il était. Je ne le connaissais pas ; mais, si je suis venu baptiser dans l'eau, c'est pour qu'il soit manifesté au peuple d'Israël. »

Alors Jean rendit ce témoignage : « J'ai vu l'Esprit descendre du ciel comme une colombe et demeurer sur lui. Je ne le connaissais pas, mais celui qui m'a envoyé baptiser dans l'eau m'a dit : 'L'homme sur qui tu verras l'Esprit descendre et demeurer, c'est celui-là qui baptise dans l'Esprit Saint.' Oui, j'ai vu, et je rends ce témoignage : c'est lui le Fils de Dieu. »

Le message

Les prophètes nous ont déjà dit que Dieu va nous envoyer un grand prophète qui nous préparera à accueillir l’Envoyé du Père. C’est par le baptême de la conversion que Jean Baptiste nous a préparés.

Aujourd’hui il nous montre le Sauveur et il nous rend témoignage de sa présence. Par le baptême de Jean Baptiste, nous comprenons que la conversion est le mot clé pour que nous puissions identifier l’Agneau de Dieu et nous associer avec lui comme les enfants de Dieu.

C’est ainsi nous pouvons témoigner comme Jean Baptiste dans notre vie quotidienne le Sauver du monde et nous pouvons d’être témoin de l’action de grâce.

(Jn 1,29-34):

John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, «There is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. It is he of whom I said: ‘A man comes after me who is already ahead of me, for he was before me’. I myself did not know him, but I came baptizing to prepare for him, so that he might be revealed in Israel». And John also gave this testimony, «I saw the Spirit coming down on him like a dove from heaven and resting on him. I myself did not know him but God who sent me to baptize told me: ‘You will see the Spirit coming down and resting on the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit’. Yes, I have seen! and I declare that this is the Chosen One of God».

The message

The same child, who rejoiced of the presence of Jesus in the womb of his mother, gives a divine witness, inspired from heaven. Even though he received the message from above, it took time for him to prepare himself in solitude in the desert and he took equal time to prepare his people through his baptism of conversion to receive the Savior of the world.

The descending of the Holy Spirit assures us the need of Him in our daily spiritual life. If it is not revealed to us, with our human intelligence we will never be able to identify Him.

Our Holy Father in his last exhortation has invited us to be transformed by the word of God and of the Holy Spirit. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to penetrate in our hearts to be transformed by Him.

(Jn 1, 19-28)

Voici quel fut le témoignage de Jean Baptiste, quand les Juifs lui envoyèrent de Jérusalem des prêtres et des lévites pour lui demander : « Qui es-tu ? »

Il le reconnut ouvertement, il déclara : « Je ne suis pas le Messie. »

Ils lui demandèrent : « Qui es-tu donc ? Es-tu le prophète Élie ? » Il répondit : « Non. Alors es-tu le grand Prophète ? » Il répondit : « Ce n'est pas moi. »

Alors ils lui dirent : « Qui es-tu ? Il faut que nous donnions une réponse à ceux qui nous ont envoyés. Que dis-tu sur toi-même ? »

Il répondit : «Je suis la voix qui crie à travers le désert : Aplanissez le chemin du Seigneur, comme a dit le prophète Isaïe.»

Or, certains des envoyés étaient des pharisiens. Ils lui posèrent encore cette question : « Si tu n'es ni le Messie, ni Élie, ni le grand Prophète, pourquoi baptises-tu ? »

Jean leur répondit : « Moi, je baptise dans l'eau. Mais au milieu de vous se tient celui que vous ne connaissez pas : c'est lui qui vient derrière moi, et je ne suis même pas digne de défaire la courroie de sa sandale. »

Tout cela s'est passé à Béthanie-de-Transjordanie, à l'endroit où Jean baptisait.

Le message

« Qui es-tu » est une question étroite que l’homme ne peut l’ignorer. C’est à partir cette question que Jean Baptiste nous témoigne la présence de Jésus parmi nous et il nous présente indirectement le Baptême de l’Esprit Saint.

Il a reconnu qu’il ne mérite même pas d’être appelé comme le disciple de Jésus. Pourtant il accepte sans aucune hésitation qu’il n’est pas le prophète, mais celui qui prépare le chemin et celui qui nous identifiera la présence du Christ.

« Qui es-tu » est une question que nous devons nous demander pour que nous puissions reconnaitre la présence du Christ dans notre vie quotidienne et que nous identifions sa présence aux autres.

Gospel text (Jn 1,19-28):

This was the testimony of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites to ask him, «Who are you?». John recognized the truth and did not deny it. He said, «I am not the Messiah». And they asked him, «Then who are you? Elijah?». He answered, «I am not». They said, «Are you the Prophet?». And he answered, «No». Then they said to him, «Tell us who you are, so that we can give some answer to those who sent us. How do you see yourself?». And John said, quoting the prophet Isaiah, «I am the voice crying out in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord».

Those who had been sent were Pharisees; so they put a further question to John: «Then why are you baptizing if you are not the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet?». John answered, «I baptize you with water, but among you stands one whom you do not know; although he comes after me, I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandal». This happened in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

The message

Shall I for the sake of incorporating this gospel message, put the question in this way, “who am I?” The witness of John Baptist is a response to this question. He humbly accepts two things, first he is not a prophet, let us forget of a great prophet and the second is that he is not worthy to be Jesus’ disciple. It is in this self knowledge that John Baptist witnesses the Christ and one day he will identify Him for us.

However he affirms his mission of someone who is here to prepare the way for Christ. As a baptized Christian, do we know who we are and what is our mission today?

L’Église catholique célèbre la fête de Mère de Jésus, notre mère. Et quelle joie pour nous de pouvoir démarrer le nouvel an avec la mère de Dieu. Nous bénissions le Seigneur pour cette année et nous lui demandons de nous prendre en grâce et de nous bénir.

Comme les bergers, nous devons découvrir Marie et Joseph avec le nouveau né, le signe visible de l’espérance que Dieu nous donne aujourd’hui dans la fragilité de notre humanité. C’est là que nous découvrirons l’amour et le pardon dans l’humilité de Marie, et une immense présence de Dieu dans cette famille par Jésus, en qui le monde trouve son salut mené à son achèvement dans le calvaire où le Père sanctifiera l’offrande pure offerte par l’humanité en Jésus pour notre humanité et rétablira la divinité de l’homme dans sa résurrection.

Nous pouvons prier avec le psalmiste, « Que ton visage s’illumine pour tous ». Ceux qui ont approché la grotte de Bethléem, ont vu l’enfant né avec ses parents et ils ont entendu la Parole de Dieu, la bonne nouvelle. Ils ont vu et ils ont cru. Il y a eu, dans la simplicité et la joie d’une naissance, une rencontre divine entre l’homme et Dieu. Marie en est témoin. Dieu nous donne les signes qui illumineront les peuples dans leur obscurité, mais l’homme dans sa liberté a choisi les ténèbres, dit saint Jean, l’évangéliste.

Joseph représente l’homme dépassé par les événements mais fidèle, qui coopère, en silence et d’une totale docilité, au projet de Dieu, l’homme à qui nous pouvons nous confier dans nos tribulations personnelles et familiales comme Marie et Jésus. Marie retenait tous ces événements, les méditait dans son cœur. La Parole de Dieu est toujours accueillie et elle fait sa demeure facilement dans le cœur de Marie. C’est pourquoi, chaque fois que Marie ouvrait sa bouche, il y avait une parole d’espérance dans la sérénité, il y avait une solution qui amenait le peuple vers la paix. Au calvaire elle était debout devant son Fils avec une humble assurance, prête à achever la mission qu’elle avait reçue dans son Fils et que son Fils lui confie, de devenir en Lui la Mère de l’Église, de tous ceux qui y deviennent le Corps du Christ par la foi.

L’enfant Jésus était bien protégé de la violence. Protégeons nos enfants aussi contre la violence et qu’ils apprennent dans la maison à aimer et à pardonner. Qu’ils découvrent le chemin qui mène vers la paix et la justice. Qu’ils entendent quotidiennement cette prière : « Que le Seigneur te bénisse et te garde ! Que le Seigneur fasse briller sur toi son visage, qu’il se penche vers toi ! Que le Seigneur tourne vers toi son visage, qu’il t’apporte la paix. Amen.

Homily Happy New year to all my friends.

Today the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Mother of Jesus , our mother. And what a joy for us to start the new year with the Mother of God . We thank the Lord for this year and we ask him to take us through and bless us.

Like the shepherds who have seen the light and heard the Good News, we need to go towards Mary and Joseph to see and adore the newborn, the visible sign of hope that God gives us today in the fragility of our humanity. This is where we will find love of God and neighbors. It is here we will learn to forgive and accept others in the humility of Mary.

In the presence of the holy family, we feel the presence of God through Jesus , in Him the world finds salvation which will led to its completion in the Calvary where Father will accept and sanctify the pure offering offered by the humanity in Jesus to restore our humanity and to reinstall the divinity in man through his resurrection.
We can pray with the psalmist, "Let your face shine for all." Those who have approached Bethlehem, saw the new born child with his parents and they witnessed the accomplishment of the Word of God, the good news. They saw and believed . There was , in the simplicity and joy of a birth, a divine encounter between man and God. Mary who is silent in meditation is the witness. God gives us signs that illuminate the people in their darkness , but man 's freedom has chosen darkness, says St. John , the Evangelist .

Joseph is the man overwhelmed but faithful, who cooperates in silence and total docility to God's plan , the man to whom we can trust and look for in our personal and family tribulations as Mary and Jesus. He will help us to listen and discern the Word of God. Mary kept all these things in her heart, pondering and discovering the wonders of God in her son. The Word of God is always welcomed and she made ​​her heart to the home, thus participates in the sacred heart of Jesus and makes all its ingredients in her heart. That is why , whenever Mary opened her mouth , there was a word of hope in the serenity , there was a solution that brought the people to peace.

At Calvary she was standing before her Son with a humble assurance , ready to complete the mission she has received in His Son and His Son entrusts to her his mission. Thus she becomes the Mother of the Church, a Mother to all those become member of the Body of Christ by faith.

The child Jesus was protected from violence by His parents. Let us protect our children against violence and also let learn in the house to love and forgive. May they discover the path to peace and justice in their parents. Let them hear daily this prayer: "May the Lord bless you and keep you! May the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! May the Lord turn his face toward you , and brings you peace . Amen .
