Évangile de Jésus Christ selon Saint Marc (Mc 1, 40-45)

Un lépreux vient trouver Jésus ; il tombe à ses genoux et le supplie : « Si tu le veux, tu peux me purifier. »
Pris de pitié devant cet homme, Jésus étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit : « Je le veux, sois purifié. »
À l'instant même, sa lèpre le quitta et il fut purifié. Aussitôt Jésus le renvoya avec cet avertissement sévère : « Attention, ne dis rien à personne, mais va te montrer au prêtre. Et donne pour ta purification ce que Moïse prescrit dans la Loi : ta guérison sera pour les gens un témoignage. »

Une fois parti, cet homme se mit à proclamer et à répandre la nouvelle, de sorte qu'il n'était plus possible à Jésus d'entrer ouvertement dans une ville. Il était obligé d'éviter les lieux habités, mais de partout on venait à lui.

Le message

Dieu en Jésus Christ répond positivement au besoin des hommes. La réponse de Jésus, « Je le veux, sois purifié. » nous affirme combien Dieu comprend nos soucis et Il veut que nous soyons toujours pur comme Dieu, lui-même. C’est dans cette certitude que nous nous adressons au Père de Jésus comme notre Père.

Pourtant la première lecture nous mis en garde d’abus de la générosité de Dieu. Nous devons respecter la volonté du Père qui aime tous sans aucune discrimination. Devant ce Dieu qui nous aime, nous devons nous incliner et apprendre à nous aimer les uns les autres.

Mark 1:40-45

40 A man suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to him and pleaded on his knees saying, 'If you are willing, you can cleanse me.'

41 Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said to him, 'I am willing. Be cleansed.'

42 And at once the skin-disease left him and he was cleansed.

43 And at once Jesus sternly sent him away and said to him,

44 'Mind you tell no one anything, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing prescribed by Moses as evidence to them.'

45 The man went away, but then started freely proclaiming and telling the story everywhere, so that Jesus could no longer go openly into any town, but stayed outside in deserted places. Even so, people from all around kept coming to him.

The message


Jesus is always available for us and to hel us. It is veruyoften we who refuse to Him. His reponse to this man do confirms us God’s love for us and His desire that we may be holy and saint like Him. It is in this divine will and desire that merit to call Him as our Father and profit in His holiness.
However the first reading do give us a warning of the misuse of the divine generosity. Eventhough the Lord is available to us every time we call Him, we can not use His generosity for the destruction of others. God loves even the enemies and we have a lot to learn and improve in our relationship with others.

(Mc 1, 29-39)

En quittant la synagogue, Jésus, accompagné de Jacques et de Jean, alla chez Simon et André. Or, la belle-mère de Simon était au lit avec de la fièvre. Sans plus attendre, on parle à Jésus de la malade. Jésus s'approcha d'elle, la prit par la main, et il la fit lever. La fièvre la quitta, et elle les servait.

Le soir venu, après le coucher du soleil, on lui amenait tous les malades, et ceux qui étaient possédés par des esprits mauvais. La ville entière se pressait à la porte. Il guérit toutes sortes de malades, il chassa beaucoup d'esprits mauvais et il les empêchait de parler, parce qu'ils savaient, eux, qui il était.

Le lendemain, bien avant l'aube, Jésus se leva. Il sortit et alla dans un endroit désert, et là il priait. Simon et ses compagnons se mirent à sa recherche. Quand ils l'ont trouvé, ils lui disent : « Tout le monde te cherche. »
Mais Jésus leur répond : « Partons ailleurs, dans les villages voisins, afin que là aussi je proclame la Bonne Nouvelle ; car c'est pour cela que je suis sorti. »

Il parcourut donc toute la Galilée, proclamant la Bonne Nouvelle dans leurs synagogues, et chassant les esprits mauvais.

Le message

« Partons ailleurs, dans les villages voisins, afin que là aussi je proclame la Bonne Nouvelle ; car c'est pour cela que je suis sorti. ». ‘Partir’ est un mot important pour tous les missionnaires. C’est aller vers l’accomplissement de la volonté du Père. Aller vers le peuple de Dieu qui a besoin de nous. Aller c’est aussi d’être envoyé.

C’est pourquoi, avant qu’on ne commence à partir, il faut nous enraciner en Jésus Christ, comme Jésus qui était en prière avec son Père. C’est ici que nous devons nous ressourcer.

Les disciples vivent dans la gloire des hommes grâce à Jésus Christ. Jésus leur demande de quitter ce lieu de gloire humaine pour qu’ils puissent vivre dans la gloire divine. De temps en temps, nous ne comprendrons pas les décisions divines, pourtant il est important que nous devions nous laisser guider par l’intention divine.

Gospel text (Mc 1,29-39):

As soon as Jesus and his disciples left the synagogue, Jesus went to the home of Simon and Andrew with James and John. As Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with fever, they immediately told Him about her. Jesus went to her and taking her by the hand, raised her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

That evening at sundown, people brought to Jesus all the sick and those who had evil spirits: the whole town was pressing around the door. Jesus healed many who had various diseases, and drove out many demons; but he did not let them speak, for they knew who he was.

Very early in the morning, before daylight, Jesus went off to a lonely place where He prayed. Simon and the others went out, too, searching for him; and when they found him they said, «Everyone is looking for you». Then Jesus answered, «Let's go to the nearby villages so that I may preach there too; for that is why I came». So Jesus set out to preach in all the synagogues throughout Galilee; he also cast out demons.

The message

Jesus is very clearly telling us the source of His energy: the prayer and His mission: announce the Kingdom of God. We find Him in prayer, full contemplation and fully engaged in action by His healing ministry.

While the people around Him is willing to keep Him, He seems to move away from them and taking away his disciples too from this wonderful moment where all of us would like to be. He is taking his disciples far away from human glory so that His disciples could participate in the divine Glory.

His availability to need of others and the generous heart of others to serve Him, do inspire us to be available to the mission of Jesus and be generous in giving ourselves to others.

(Mc 1, 21-28)

Jésus, accompagné de ses disciples, arrive à Capharnaüm. Aussitôt, le jour du sabbat, il se rendit à la synagogue, et là, il enseignait. On était frappé par son enseignement, car il enseignait en homme qui a autorité, et non pas comme les scribes.
Or, il y avait dans leur synagogue un homme tourmenté par un esprit mauvais,
qui se mit à crier : « Que nous veux-tu, Jésus de Nazareth ? Es-tu venu pour nous perdre ? Je sais fort bien qui tu es : le Saint, le Saint de Dieu. »
Jésus l'interpella vivement : « Silence ! Sors de cet homme. »
L'esprit mauvais le secoua avec violence et sortit de lui en poussant un grand cri.
Saisis de frayeur, tous s'interrogeaient : « Qu'est-ce que cela veut dire ? Voilà un enseignement nouveau, proclamé avec autorité ! Il commande même aux esprits mauvais, et ils lui obéissent. »
Dès lors, sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région de la Galilée.

Le message

L’enseignement accompagné par l’action provoque une adhérence inattendue dans le cœur des hommes qui ont les témoins. Aujourd’hui tout ce qui est important, est la Personne qui annonce la Bonne Nouvelle. Nous regardons Jésus et nous l’admirons.

Jésus ne cherche jamais un témoignage des hommes, sur tout pas par un esprit mauvais. Ce n’est pas la parole de nos bouches, mais la vie qui doit d’être le témoin de la présence de Dieu.

L’homme peut se tromper par l’apparence comme le prophète Eli, mais Dieu regarde le cœur des hommes et Il écoute nos prières.

Gospel text (Mc 1,21-28):

Jesus and his disciples went into the town of Capernaum and began to teach in the synagogue during the sabbath assemblies. The people were astonished at the way he taught, for he spoke as one having authority and not like the teachers of the Law. It happened that a man with an evil spirit was in their synagogue and he shouted, «What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: You are the Holy One of God». Then Jesus faced him and said with authority, «Be silent and come out of this man!». The evil spirit shook the man violently and, with a loud shriek, came out of him.

All the people were astonished and they wondered, «What is this? With what authority he preaches! He even orders evil spirits and they obey Him!». And Jesus' fame spread throughout all the country of Galilee.

The message

When Jesus speaks, He speaks with authority. He is the source of everything and we find our source in Him. He is the giver not the receiver and search the heart which seeks the Lord. He knows the hearts of people and is capable of identifying the intentions of everyone. Thus he could stop the revelation of an evil spirit, because the intention is hidden to the human intelligence.

Jesus will help us to identify the truth hidden in human languages if we put our confidence in Him. When we are rooted in Him, He will act in and through us, thus our words will have His authority, which will do wonders in our human relationships.

How wonderful it will be, when God finds our hearts worthy of welcoming Him and be a house to shelter His presence in this world! Let us give Him a chance to guide us………………………!

(Mc 1, 14-20)

Après l'arrestation de Jean Baptiste,
Jésus partit pour la Galilée
proclamer la Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu ; il disait :
« Les temps sont accomplis,
le règne de Dieu est tout proche.
Convertissez-vous
et croyez à la Bonne Nouvelle. »

Passant au bord du lac de Galilée,
il vit Simon et son frère André
en train de jeter leurs filets :
c'étaient des pêcheurs.
Jésus leur dit :
« Venez derrière moi.
Je ferai de vous des pêcheurs d'hommes. »
Aussitôt, laissant là leurs filets,
ils le suivirent.

Un peu plus loin,
Jésus vit Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et son frère Jean,
qui étaient aussi dans leur barque
et préparaient leurs filets.
Jésus les appela aussitôt.
Alors, laissant dans la barque leur père avec ses ouvriers,
ils partirent derrière lui.

Le message

Jésus annonce la conversion comme un chemin vers l’accueil de la bonne nouvelle. Se convertir, c’est aller à l’origine de l’être humain. Jésus nous invite à coopérer à l’accomplissement de la volonté du Père. Or la volonté du Père, ce que l’homme connaisse son créateur et qu’il l’aime. Aujourd’hui nous devons inviter nos frères et sœur au découvert d’un Dieu qui nous aime. Pour le découvrir, nous devons marcher sur les pas de Jésus. Il faut le suivre fidèlement dans notre vie quotidienne. Sommes-nous prêts à laisser tout derrière nous et partir avec le Seigneur ?

Gospel text (Mc 1,14-20):

After John was arrested, Jesus went into Galilee and began preaching the Good News of God. He said, «The time has come; the kingdom of God is at hand. Change your ways and believe the Good News». As Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the lake, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, «Follow me, and I will make you fish for people». At once, they left their nets and followed Him. Jesus went a little farther on and saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee; they were in their boat mending their nets. Immediately, Jesus called them and they followed Him, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men.

The message

Jesus is announcing the conversion as a means to welcome the Good News in our hearts. Without this conversion, the Good News announced by Jesus will find difficult to have a permanent place in our lives.

Conversion imperatively means a change, change in all the senses possible towards the creator, the Father who loves us. The disciples of Jesus could leave behind everything to follow Jesus. We can’t follow Him, without leaving behind all that is blocking to accomplish the will of the Father.

Are we ready to follow Jesus? Let us look behind and see all that is blocking us to follow Jesus. Let us have the courage to leave them and take the path with and in Jesus.

Homélie

Quand nous célébrons la fête du baptême du Seigneur, nous célébrons notre propre baptême. « Le baptême de Jésus est sa première manifestation publique, premier dévoilement aux yeux de tous de ce qu’il est réellement ». Par notre baptême, nous déclarons explicitement et témoignons volontairement que nous sommes chrétiens, les christs qui sauvent le monde. N’oublions pas d’annoncer la bonne nouvelle, la présence de Dieu parmi nous, le Christ dans le cœur des hommes.

Ce n’est pas le témoignage des hommes que nous devons attendre et compter, mais le témoigne de Dieu, lui-même. Ecoutons bien tout ce qu’Il a dit, « Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé ; en lui j’ai mis tout mon amour. » Dans l’ancien testament, ce Dieu était toujours un Père, un Père qui aime son peuple. Par cette fête, Dieu nous fait comprendre que « malgré toutes les apparences, le vrai roi-messie qu’on attend, c’est Jésus.»

Chaque fois qu’on célèbre le baptême, Dieu déclare que nous sommes les biens aimés de Dieu. Que ce Dieu qui nous aime, ne soit pas déçu de notre comportement, de nos pensés ou de nos actes. Comme Lui, nous devons nous aimer les uns les autres. Nous devons d’être les signes visibles et véritables de son amour.

Aujourd’hui l’évangéliste présente la grandeur de Jésus, mais il le présente comme un homme humble et il tente de nous dévoiler le mystère de sa divinité. Par ce baptême comme Il a fait par l’incarnation, Jésus s’immerge dans la pâte humaine et qui est pleinement soumis à la volonté du Père. Notre baptême nous aide à nous immerger pleinement dans la pâte divine où le monde découvrira en nous la volonté du Père.

Le temps de Noël se termine par cette fête du baptême de Jésus où nous avons médité avec Marie et Joseph, le nouveau né. Dès aujourd’hui nous devons nous ouvrir au mystère de l’incarnation et méditer sur la demeure de Dieu dans nos cœurs. Comme Jésus qui a plongé dans l’eau, nous devons nous plongé dans sa divinité et la faire vivre, illuminer dans ce monde qui est désespéré.

Lorsque nous entendons la prophétie du prophète Isaïe, nous nous ressentons l’appel de Dieu. Le baptême que nous avons reçu recommence à revivre en nous et il nous pousse vers le monde, pour que nous prenions confiance de notre devoir chrétien. La mission que nous a été confié par Dieu lors notre baptême, se réveille en nous et elle nous enracine en Jésus Christ. Comme Paul, nous osons dire que je ne peux plus vivre sans lui, celui qui m’a choisi, qui m’a envoyé dans ce monde, pour que je le représente.

Ce jour de fête nous pouvons prier en disant, aide-nous Seigneur à vraiment découvrir la force et la grandeur de baptême que nous avons reçu et l’Eucharistie que célébrons aujourd’hui comme les dons que tu nous fais en Jésus Christ. Que nous découvrions la présence de la trinité dans notre vie quotidienne et que nous entendions cette Parole d’amour toujours dans notre vie quotidienne : « Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé ; en lui j’ai mis tout mon amour. » Amen.

When we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, we celebrate our own baptism . " The baptism of Jesus is his first public event , first unveiling to everyone of what it really is ." Through our baptism we declare explicitly and voluntarily that we are Christians, the different faces of Christ who saves the world . Do not forget to announce the good news of God's presence among us, Christ in the heart of men.
This is not the testimony of men we have to wait and count , but the testimony of God himself. Listen to everything which God has said, " This is my beloved Son, with whom I put all my love . " In the Old Testament , this God was always a Father, a Father who loves his people. Through this festival, God makes us understand that "despite all appearances, the true King Messiah expected is Jesus . "
Every time we celebrate the baptism, God declares that we are loved by God. May this God who loves us , is not disappointed with our behavior, our thoughts or our actions. Like Him, we must love each other . We must be real and visible signs of his love in this world.

Today the evangelist presents the greatness of Jesus, but he presents him as a humble man and he tries to unveil the mystery of his divinity. By baptism as He did in the incarnation , Jesus was immersed in human pulp and is fully subject to the will of the Father. Our baptism helps us to fully immerse ourselves in the divine dough where the world will discover in us the will of the Father.
Christmas time ends with the feast of the baptism of Jesus where we meditated with Mary and Joseph , the newborn . Today we must be open to the mystery of the Incarnation and meditate on God's dwelling in our hearts. As Jesus was immersed in water , we have to plunge into his divinity.

When we hear the prophecy of Isaiah , we feel the call of God. Baptism we received pushes us to the world and reminds us of our Christian duty . The mission we have been given by God at our baptism , awakens in us and root us in Jesus Christ. Like Paul, we dare say that I cannot live without him, the one who chose me , who sent me into this world, that I may represent Him.
This feast day we pray saying , Lord , help us to really experience the strength and greatness of our baptism we received and the greatness of the Eucharist we celebrate today as the gifts you give us in Jesus Christ. May we discovered the presence of the Trinity in our daily life and let us hear this word of love in our daily lives : "This is my beloved Son, with whom I put all my love . " Amen .

(Jn 3, 22-30)

Jésus se rendit en Judée, accompagné de ses disciples ; il y séjourna avec eux, et il baptisait.
Jean, de son côté, baptisait à Aïnone, près de Salim, où l'eau était abondante. On venait là pour se faire baptiser.
En effet, Jean n'avait pas encore été mis en prison.
Or, les disciples de Jean s'étaient mis à discuter avec un Juif à propos des bains de purification.
Ils allèrent donc trouver Jean et lui dirent : « Rabbi, celui qui était avec toi de l'autre côté du Jourdain, celui à qui tu as rendu témoignage, le voilà qui baptise, et tous vont à lui ! »
Jean répondit : « Un homme ne peut rien s'attribuer, sauf ce qu'il a reçu du Ciel. Vous-mêmes pouvez témoigner que j'ai dit : Je ne suis pas le Messie, je suis celui qui a été envoyé devant lui.
L'époux, c'est celui à qui l'épouse appartient ; quant à l'ami de l'époux, il se tient là, il entend la voix de l'époux, et il en est tout joyeux. C'est ma joie, et j'en suis comblé.
Lui, il faut qu'il grandisse ; et moi, que je diminue. »

Le message

L’enfant qui a tressailli de joie, voit l’achèvement de joie en lui. Un homme humble qui laisse Dieu prendre la place dans le cœur de ses disciples. Ce n’est pas facile pour un maître de s’abaisser devant ses disciples. Il nous affirme le raisonnement de cet abaissement, ‘Lui, il faut qu’il grandisse ; et moi je diminue. »

Combien d’entre nous, avons ce courage et cette humilité ?

Gospel text (Jn 3,22-30): After this, Jesus went into the territory of Judea with his disciples. He stayed there with them and baptized. John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim where water was plentiful; people came to him and were baptized. This happened before John was put in prison.

Now John's disciples had been questioned by a Jew about spiritual cleansing, so they came to him and said, «Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, and about whom you spoke favorably, is now baptizing and all are going to him». John answered, «No one can take on anything except what has been given him from heaven. You yourselves are my witnesses that I said: ‘I am not the Christ but I have been sent before him’. Only the bridegroom has the bride; but the friend of the bridegroom stands by and listens, and rejoices to hear the bridegroom’s voice. My joy is now full. It is necessary that he increase but that I decrease».

The message

The baptism of John purifies man, but the baptism of Jesus transforms man in to divine being. John affirms once again that he is not the Christ and brings his disciples to Jesus by telling “My joy is now full.” The child, who jumped with joy, finds its completion today.

Spiritually we have to give access to Jesus in our hearts so that He may grow in us, transforms us. It is in and through Him that we can be transformed.

Let us not forget to observe the humility of John. He is able to humble himself before his disciples so that Jesus may enter in to their hearts. Every Christian is called to prepare the terrain for Jesus in the heart of people so that He may increase and we may decrease.

(Lc 5, 12-16)

Jésus était dans une ville quand survint un homme couvert de lèpre ; celui-ci, en voyant Jésus, tomba la face contre terre et lui demanda : « Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me purifier. »
Jésus étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit : « Je le veux, sois purifié. » À l'instant même, sa lèpre le quitta.
Alors Jésus lui ordonna de ne le dire à personne : « Va plutôt te montrer au prêtre et donne pour ta purification ce que Moïse a prescrit ; ta guérison sera pour les gens un témoignage. »
On parlait de lui de plus en plus. De grandes foules accouraient pour l'entendre et se faire guérir de leurs maladies. Mais lui se retirait dans les endroits déserts, et il priait.

Le message

Chaque fois que Jésus a ressenti en lui la gloire d’homme, il s’est retiré en prière. Dans cette prière il a rendu grâce à Dieu pour tout ce qu’Il a fait et Il la transforme la gloire humaine comme une gloire divine. Par sa parole et par son acte Il a transformé toute rencontre humaine comme une rencontre divine.

Par le baptême Il nous a fait naître en lui et nous a dignement élevé pour que nous puissions participés au baptême du sang. Le baptême du sang est une purification où nous arrivions nous offrir à Dieu comme une offrande pure, celle de Jésus.

Il nous dit toujours, « Je le veux, sois purifié ». Si nous n’avons cette volonté et humilité d’aller vers le Seigneur, nous ne l’entendrons jamais. Osons aller vers lui et demandons lui une purification par le baptême. du sang.

Gospel text (Lc 5,12-16):

One day in another town, a man came to Jesus covered with leprosy. On seeing him he bowed down to the ground, and said, «Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean». Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched the man and said, «Yes, I want it. Be clean». In an instant the leprosy left him. Then Jesus instructed him, «Tell this to no one. But go and show yourself to the priest. Make an offering for your healing, as Moses prescribed; that should be a proof to the people». But the news about Jesus spread all the more, and large crowds came to him to listen and be healed of their sickness. As for Jesus, he would often withdraw to solitary places and pray.

The message

We all need purification. Like this leper, we have to go to Jesus and ask Him to purify us. When we received our baptism, there was an implicit baptism of blood which we realize only in our later days after acquiring a matured Faith and deepening our relationship with the Lord.

Jesus has elevated us by our baptism as a worthy member of His Church to participate in His baptism of blood. All that we have to do is to stretch our hands towards Him, so that He may touch them and heal. He will make use of them as an instrument of peace and love.

This purification is imperative of all the believers who desire to follow Jesus radically and become Christ for others. Are we ready for this purification and prepared to participate in the baptism of Blood?

(Lc 4, 14-22)

Lorsque Jésus, avec la puissance de l'Esprit, revint en Galilée, sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région. Il enseignait dans les synagogues des Juifs, et tout le monde faisait son éloge.
Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait grandi. Comme il en avait l'habitude, il entra dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat, et il se leva pour faire la lecture. On lui présenta le livre du prophète Isaïe. Il ouvrit le livre et trouva le passage où il est écrit :
L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi parce que le Seigneur m'a consacré par l'onction. Il m'a envoyé porter la Bonne Nouvelle aux pauvres, annoncer aux prisonniers qu'ils sont libres, et aux aveugles qu'ils verront la lumière, apporter aux opprimés la libération, annoncer une année de bienfait s’accordée par le Seigneur.

Jésus referma le livre, le rendit au servant et s'assit. Tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux fixés sur lui. Alors il se mit à leur dire : « Cette parole de l'Écriture, que vous venez d'entendre, c'est aujourd'hui qu'elle s'accomplit. » Tous lui rendaient témoignage ; et ils s'étonnaient du message de grâce qui sortait de sa bouche.

Le message

Jésus nous affirme sa mission et Il nous explique comment il va rétablir le Royaume de Dieu, un royaume de l’amour.

Tous, étonnaient du message de grâce qui sortait de sa bouche. Aujourd’hui ils ont entendu un message d’amour. Ils ont vu en Jésus Christ une espérance qu’ils attendaient depuis les années.

Le monde attend encore ce message d’espérance et Jésus nous invite à répandre ce message d’amour qui donnera l’espérance au peuple de Dieu. Chaque fois que nous ouvrons nos bouches, que nos paroles soient une parole d’espérance et d’amour. C’est ainsi le monde connaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu et qu’il voie en nous la Lumière qui illumine.

Gospel text (Lc 4,14-22):

Jesus acted with the power of the Spirit, and on his return to Galilee the news about him spread throughout all that territory. He began teaching in the synagogues of the Jews and everyone praised him.

When Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, he entered the synagogue on the sabbath as he usually did. He stood up to read and they handed him the book of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus then unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written: «The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and new sight to the blind; to free the oppressed and announce the Lord's year of mercy».

Jesus then rolled up the scroll, gave it to the attendant and sat down, while the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he said to them, «Today these prophetic words come true even as you listen». All agreed with him and were lost in wonder, while he kept on speaking of the grace of God.

The message

Jesus filled with the Holy Spirit proclaims His mission. The mission is filled with love and it is in this love that He proclaims the liberation to the world.

Liberate man from worldly outlook and bring him closer to God, a life filled with divine approach is already part of Jesus ministry. The incarnation is a evident sign of God’s love and it is this love Jesus is inviting us to participate in His mission.

There is no doubt that when we go to people pushed by this divine love, they will see in us the living presence of God and they will give glory to God through the good works we do.

(Mc 6, 45-52)

Aussitôt après avoir nourri la foule, Jésus obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à le précéder sur l'autre rive, vers Bethsaïde, pendant que lui-même renvoyait la foule.
Quand il les eut congédiés, il s'en alla sur la montagne pour prier.
Le soir venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer et lui, tout seul, à terre.
Voyant qu'ils se débattaient avec les rames, car le vent leur était contraire, il vient à eux vers la fin de la nuit en marchant sur la mer, et il allait les dépasser.
En le voyant marcher sur la mer, les disciples crurent que c'était un fantôme et ils se mirent à pousser des cris, car tous l'avaient vu et ils étaient bouleversés. Mais aussitôt Jésus leur parla : « Confiance ! c'est moi ; n'ayez pas peur ! »
Il monta ensuite avec eux dans la barque et le vent tomba ; et en eux-mêmes ils étaient complètement bouleversés de stupeur, car ils n'avaient pas compris la signification du miracle des pains : leur cœur était aveuglé.

Le message

Ils n’avaient pas compris la signification du miracle des pains. Combien qu’il est la nôtre cette incompréhension ? Nous ne devons pas nous inquiets sur cette incompréhension, car c’est un mystère.

Tout ce qui est demandé de nous est s’aimer les uns les autres. C’est ainsi que reconnaitrons la présence de Dieu, la demeure de Dieu en nous. Pour ressentir cette présence de Dieu, nous devons nous unir devant Lui en prière. Jésus nous montre un bon exemple. Il est en prière. C’est dans cette prière que nous reconnaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu et c’est dans cette même prière que nous retrouverons la force en vivre.

Gospel text (Mc 6,45-52):

After the five thousand men were satiated, Jesus obliged his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, towards Bethsaida, while he himself sent the crowd away. And having sent the people off, he went by himself to the hillside to pray. When evening came, the boat was far out on the lake while he was alone on the land.

Jesus saw his disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, and before daybreak he came to them walking on the lake; and he was going to pass them by. When they saw him walking on the lake, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But at once he called to them, «Courage! It's me; don't be afraid». Then Jesus got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were completely astonished, for they had not really grasped the fact of the loaves; their minds were dull.

The message

If the disciples of Jesus didn’t understand the signification of the multiplication of bread, it is because they didn’t join Jesus in His prayer and it is a mystery. It is in divine prayer that human being can understand the divine mysteries. Jesus, who was fully united in God, finds the need to go back to His Father every time He finds himself elevated in a purely human glory. If every human glory is not raised up to heaven, then it will destroy the person. We have to rise up not only the human glory, but also our failures and difficulties. Thus we will be able to transform every part of our life as a sign of the Kingdom of God.

The divine mysteries reveal its divine truth through love and forgiveness. It is in this divine love that we are called to participate and share. It is in this prayer that we will be able to realize that we are children of God.

Jésus, voyant une grande foule de gens sur le bord du lac, fut saisi de pitié envers eux, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis sans berger. Alors, il se mit à les instruire longuement.
Déjà l'heure était avancée ; ses disciples s'étaient approchés et lui disaient : « L'endroit est désert et il est déjà tard. Renvoie-les, qu'ils aillent dans les fermes et les villages des environs s'acheter de quoi manger. »
Il leur répondit : « Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. »
Ils répliquent : « Allons-nous dépenser le salaire de deux cents journées pour acheter du pain et leur donner à manger ? »
Jésus leur demande : « Combien avez-vous de pains ? Allez voir. » S'étant informés, ils lui disent : « Cinq, et deux poissons. »
Il leur ordonna de les faire tous asseoir par groupes sur l'herbe verte.
Ils s'assirent en rond par groupes de cent et de cinquante.
Jésus prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et, levant les yeux au ciel, il prononça la bénédiction, rompit les pains, et il les donnait aux disciples pour qu'ils les distribuent. Il partagea aussi les deux poissons entre eux tous.
Tous mangèrent à leur faim.
Et l'on ramassa douze paniers pleins de morceaux de pain et de poisson.
Ceux qui avaient mangé les pains étaient au nombre de cinq mille hommes.

The message

Le sauveur du monde répond non seulement au besoin spiritual, mais aussi au besoin quotidien. L’Eglise pose ce regard de Dieu sur son peuple et elle nous demande à y répondre. Comme les apôtres nous devons apporter nos petits pains au Seigneur, et Il les multipliera. Il ne s’arrête pas à nous dire « donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. » . Ecoutons cette Parole et mettons-la en pratique.

Gospel text (Mc 6,34-44): As Jesus went ashore he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them for they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began a long teaching session with them. It was now getting late, so his disciples came to him and said, «This is a lonely place and it is now late. You should send the people away and let them go to the farms and villages around here to buy themselves something to eat». Jesus replied, «You yourselves give them something to eat». They answered, «If we are to give them food, we must go and buy two hundred silver coins' worth of bread». But Jesus said, «You have some loaves: how many? Go and see». The disciples found out and said, «There are five loaves and two fish».

Then he told them to have the people sit down together in groups on the green grass. This they did in groups of hundreds and fifties. And Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish and, raising his eyes to heaven, he pronounced a blessing, broke the loaves and handed them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them. They all ate and everyone had enough. The disciples gathered up what was left and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces of bread and fish. Five thousand men had eaten there.

The message

Jesus is the God of compassion. He takes care of not only the spiritual needs, but all the human needs. Since He is sensitive to the needs of the people, He could see all the immediate needs of the people. He without stop is telling us, “You yourselves give them something to eat.” This is the Christian homework.

Very often we look all that we don’t have and we can’t do and today he is asking us to share with Him little bread that we have. He will multiply them. When we cry that we can’t do, there is a little effort that we can always do. Let us believe that little drops of water collected can quench the thirst of millions of people. Why don’t we believe on this little drop that the Lord the readiness of the Lord to multiply them?
