Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Matthieu

(Mt 11, 28-30)

En ce temps-là, Jésus prit la parole : « Venez à moi, vous tous qui peinez sous le poids du fardeau, et moi, je vous procurerai le repos. Prenez sur vous mon joug, devenez mes disciples, car je suis doux et humble de cœur, et vous trouverez le repos. Oui, mon joug est facile à porter, et mon fardeau, léger. »

Le message

Si notre vie est remplie d’amour et de pardon, la vie, même si elle est difficile et dure, elle nous donnera le sens de vie, et cette vie nous apportera la paix et la joie. Puisque la vie du Seigneur était remplie de cet amour divin, Il a transformé la croix comme un signe d’amour et de pardon.

Aujourd’hui le Seigneur nous invite à participer à la douceur de son repos, où nous pouvons goûter l’amour divin. C’est dans cet amour divin que nous trouverons le joug facile et le fardeau lège. Si nous voulons porter sa Croix dans notre vie quotidienne pour le salut du monde, nous devons devenir son disciple.

Gospel text (Mt 11,28-30):

Jesus said, «Come to me, all you who work hard and who carry heavy burdens and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For my yoke is good and my burden is light».

The message

In this season of Advent, it is worth to recall the first reading from the prophet Isaiah, where he is exhorting the people of Israel to have faith in the God of Israel. All those who put their trust in the Lord will see in the weakness of human being, God will make the mighty to fall and raise the humble ones.

If we wish to gain from this marvelous work of the Lord, we have become the disciples of Christ, by taking his yoke and his burden as ours. Just like Him, our master, we have to take his yoke in love, love for God and love for our brothers and sisters. It is in this love that Jesus took the cross and it is in this love with gentleness and humility that we are called to live our lives, where the yoke will be good and the burden will be light.

(Mt 18, 12-14)

Jésus disait à ses disciples: « Que pensez-vous de ceci ? Si un homme possède cent brebis et que l'une d'entre elles s'égare, ne laissera-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans la montagne pour partir à la recherche de la brebis égarée ?
Et, s'il parvient à la retrouver, amen, je vous le dis : il se réjouit pour elle plus que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées.
Ainsi, votre Père qui est aux cieux ne veut pas qu'un seul de ces petits soit perdu. »

Le message

Jésus nous affirme encore une fois qu’Il ne nous abandonnera pas. Comme un bon pasteur Il nous amènera vers les herbes fraîches et Il nous fera se reposer.

Le temps d’Avent nous fait comprendre cette fidélité du Seigneur et il nous appelle à être fidèle au commandement d’amour et de pardon.

Il est venu non pas pour nous juger, mais par lui que le monde soit sauver. Nous devons nous assurer de ce pardon et nous devons l’accueillir avec un cœur ouvert, pour que le Seigneur vienne chez nous et qu’Il y demeure.

Gospel text (Mt 18,12-14):

Jesus said to his disciples, «What do you think of this? If someone has a hundred sheep and one of them strays, won't he leave the ninety-nine on the hillside, and go to look for the stray one? And I tell you: when he finally finds it, he is more pleased about it than about the ninety-nine that did not get lost. It is the same with your Father in heaven: there they don't want even one of these little ones to be lost».

The message

Jesus is the good Shepherd who is in search of the lost one. Since we don’t know the way, it is better to wait for the Lord and listen to His voice which is calling us without any stop.

The parable of lost sheep and the joy of the master, represent God’s faithfulness to the promise and our unfaithfulness to the Word of the Lord. It is nice to notice that the shepherd doesn’t judge the lost one, rather He is overwhelmed with Joy.

It is in this Joy of conversion that Lord is inviting us to participate during this Advent time. Let us turn back from our evil ways and return to the Father, who is waiting for us and searching us, so that we may be happy in Him.

(Lc 1, 26-38)

L’ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth, à une jeune fille, une vierge, accordée en mariage à un homme de la maison de David, appelé Joseph ; et le nom de la jeune fille était Marie.
L'ange entra chez elle et dit : « Je te salue, Comblée-de-grâce, le Seigneur est avec toi. »
À cette parole, elle fut toute bouleversée, et elle se demandait ce que pouvait signifier cette salutation.
L'ange lui dit alors : « Sois sans crainte, Marie, car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu. Voici que tu vas concevoir et enfanter un fils ; tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus. Il sera grand, il sera appelé Fils du Très-Haut ; le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père ; il régnera pour toujours sur la maison de Jacob, et son règne n'aura pas de fin. »

Marie dit à l'ange : « Comment cela va-t-il se faire, puisque je suis vierge ? »
L'ange lui répondit : « L'Esprit Saint viendra sur toi, et la puissance du Très-Haut te prendra sous son ombre ; c'est pourquoi celui qui va naître sera saint, et il sera appelé Fils de Dieu. Et voici qu'Élisabeth, ta cousine, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils dans sa vieillesse et elle en est à son sixième mois, alors qu'on l'appelait : 'la femme stérile'. Car rien n'est impossible à Dieu. »
Marie dit alors : « Voici la servante du Seigneur ; que tout se passe pour moi selon ta parole. »

Alors l'ange la quitta.

Le message

S’il y a une personne qui peut nous aider à accueillir le Christ dans notre cœur, c’est la verge Marie, la Mère de Jésus. Si elle a pu accueillir le Seigneur, c’est parce qu’elle a cru à la présence de Dieu. Si elle a été bénie par le Seigneur, c’est parce qu’elle a conçu dans son cœur le Seigneur d’Israël et son cœur était rempli de cette présence de Dieu. C’est pourquoi elle a cru immédiatement à la Parole lorsque l’Ange lui a annoncé la Bonne Nouvelle.

C’est grâce à cette foi profonde qu’elle a pu accepter cette Bonne Nouvelle. Avons-nous la même foi ? Ressentons-nous la présence de Dieu dans notre cœur ? Le temps d’avent est une occasion à renouveler notre engagement et à approfondir notre foi chrétienne.

and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

The message

The Magnificat is the fruit of the faith of Mary. If Mary has received the Angel of the Lord and the message announced, it was because she was already living in God. She could easily identity the voice of the Lord and believe it and accept it with an open heart.

The dialogue between Mary and the Angel of the Lord seems to be as if they knew each other already. The proximity and the knowledge of God are very much evident in this dialogue. She could see the invisible presence of the Holy Spirit already overshadowing her and she gives us an impression that she believed that the conception has already happened.

All these could possible for her, because of her deep faith in the invisible presence of the Lord in her heart. We all have received the Holy Spirit in our baptism and do we feel this presence in our hearts? Without this presence we can’t identify the Good News announced to us every day. Today have we received a message from the Lord and what is our response to the Lord?

(Mt 9, 35-38 ; 10, 1.6-8)

Jésus parcourait toutes les villes et tous les villages, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, proclamant la Bonne Nouvelle du Royaume et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité.

Voyant les foules, il eut pitié d'elles parce qu'elles étaient fatiguées et abattues comme des brebis sans berger.
Il dit alors à ses disciples : « La moisson est abondante, et les ouvriers sont peu nombreux. Priez donc le maître de la moisson d'envoyer des ouvriers pour sa moisson. »
Alors Jésus appela ses douze disciples et leur donna le pouvoir d'expulser les esprits mauvais et de guérir toute maladie et toute infirmité.
Il leur dit : « Allez plutôt vers les brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël. Sur votre route, proclamez que le Royaume des cieux est tout proche. Guérissez les malades, ressuscitez les morts, purifiez les lépreux, chassez les démons. Vous avez reçu gratuitement : donnez gratuitement.

Le message

Le Seigneur n’est venu seulement pour semer la Parole, mais aussi pour moissonner. Que nous soyons clairs ce que c’est le Seigneur qui est le semeur et Il nous invite à moissonner. Il nous envoie vers son peule, en particulier vers les brebis perdues pour que nous leur annoncions la bonne nouvelle, l’arrivé du Seigneur. Que notre mission soit une mission du Seigneur poussée pour l’amour divin et par la compassion du Seigneur.

Gospel text (Mt 9,35—10,1.6-8):

Jesus went around all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom, and he cured every sickness and disease. When he saw the crowds he was moved with pity, for they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, «The harvest is abundant but the workers are only few. Ask the master of the harvest to send workers to gather his harvest».

Then he called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority over the unclean spirits to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. «Go instead to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. Go and proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, cleanse the lepers, and drive out demons. You received this as a gift, so give it as a gift».

The message

It is a time to say YES to Jesus. Yes to Him for His work and for His presence in this world. It is strange to notice that the Lord is not asking us to go out and work for the Kingdom of God, but He is asking us to harvest all that the Lord has done. Thus it is the harvest time and equally a time to share all that we have received from the Lord freely.

As faithful missionaries we are called to do the mission of the Lord and let us respect His will while doing our missionary work. As blessed Mother Theresa has said one time, let us not spoil the work of the Lord and let our missionary activities remain always as Lord’s mission.

(Mt 9, 27-31)

Jésus était en route ; deux aveugles le suivirent, en criant : « Aie pitié de nous, fils de David ! »
Quand il fut dans la maison, les aveugles l'abordèrent, et Jésus leur dit : « Croyez-vous que je peux faire cela ? » Ils répondirent : « Oui, Seigneur. »
Alors il leur toucha les yeux, en disant : « Que tout se fasse pour vous selon votre foi ! »
Leurs yeux s'ouvrirent, et Jésus leur dit sévèrement : « Attention ! que personne ne le sache ! »
Mais, à peine sortis, ils parlèrent de lui dans toute la région.

Le message

« Croyez-vous………. » Aujourd’hui cette question s’adresse à nous les croyants. Sommes-nous capable de lui répondre positivement ? L’avent n’est seulement un temps d’attendre, mais aussi un temps d’espérance. La foi chrétienne se nourrit dans cette espérance divine où Dieu nous attend à nous convertir comme un Père qui attend son fils.

Pour se convertir nous devons reconnaitre notre propre aveuglement et faire confiance au Seigneur, le seul qui est capable de nous rendre la lumière. Jésus qui est en route, nous dirigera vers son Père, si nous osons de marche sur le chemin qu’il nous propose : le chemin d’amour et de pardon. Ce jours-là nous seront animés par l‘Esprit Saint et nous verrons nous-mêmes le jour du Seigneur.

Gospel text (Mt 9,27-31):

As Jesus moved on from Capernaum, two blind men followed him, shouting, «Son of David, help us!». When he was about to enter the house, the blind men caught up with him, and Jesus said to them, «Do you believe that I am able to do what you want?». They answered, «Yes, sir!».

Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, «As you have believed, so let it be». And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus gave them a stern warning, «Be careful and let no one know about this». But as soon as they went away, they spread the news about him through the whole area.

The message

The advent season helps us to recognize our spiritual blindness and gives us the courage to call to God crying, ‘Lord help us.’ It is also a time to nourish our Faith by putting our energy in re-establishing the loving relationship with God as a loving Father.

Certainly this process of acknowledging our blindness and the realization of the need of the Lord to see the light, will push us towards the Lord and will give us the fruit of personal conversion, which in turn will give us the light to see the wonderful presence of God in our lives.

It is in this hope that the blind men cried to God. Do we have the same faith? And the Lord will surely will ask us, “Do you believe?” and our response………………………………….?

Comme les disciples s'étaient rassemblés autour de Jésus, sur la montage, il leur disait :
« Il ne suffit pas de me dire : 'Seigneur, Seigneur !' pour entrer dans le Royaume des cieux ; mais il faut faire la volonté de mon Père qui est aux cieux.
Tout homme qui écoute ce que je vous dis là et le met en pratique est comparable à un homme prévoyant qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc.
La pluie est tombée, les torrents ont dévalé, la tempête a soufflé et s'est abattue sur cette maison ; la maison ne s'est pas écroulée, car elle était fondée sur le roc.

Et tout homme qui écoute ce que je vous dis là sans le mettre en pratique est comparable à un homme insensé qui a bâti sa maison sur le sable.
La pluie est tombée, les torrents ont dévalé, la tempête a soufflé, elle a secoué cette maison ; la maison s'est écroulée, et son écroulement a été complet. »

Le message

Aujourd’hui le message de l’évangile est très clair et il révèle le cœur de la foi chrétienne. La vie chrétienne est mesurée par la vie d’amour, non seulement par nos paroles et discours, mais en vérité, nous dit saint Jean. C’est dans cet amour divin qu’on est invité à vivre notre foi. Que nous battissions notre vie sur ce roc d’amour et que nous liassions la porte toujours ouverte.

Gospel text (Mt 7,21.24-27):

Jesus said to his disciples, «Not everyone who says to me: Lord! Lord! will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.

»So, then, anyone who hears these words of mine and acts accordingly is like a wise man, who built his house on rock. The rain poured, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house, but it did not collapse because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not act accordingly, is like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain poured, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house; it collapsed, and what a terrible fall that was!».

The message

Today’s gospel message is very clear: it is not enough to listen, but put in to practice all that the Lord has said to us. The Lord has asked us only one thing; love as I have loved you. It is in this love that we are called to live our Christian faith. The Faith is built up on this rock of love. If our life is filled with love, if it is rooted in the divine love, we can say that our house is build on the rocky land. If we wish to measure the quality of Christian life, it is in this love we are called judge.

(Mt 15, 29-37)

Jésus gagna les bords du lac de Galilée, il gravit la montagne et s'assit.
De grandes foules vinrent à lui, avec des boiteux, des aveugles, des estropiés, des muets, et beaucoup d'autres infirmes ; on les déposa à ses pieds et il les guérit.
Alors la foule était dans l'admiration en voyant des muets parler, des estropiés guérir, des boiteux marcher, des aveugles retrouver la vue ; et ils rendirent gloire au Dieu d'Israël.
Jésus appela ses disciples et leur dit : « J'ai pitié de cette foule : depuis trois jours déjà, ils sont avec moi et n'ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun ; ils pourraient défaillir en route. »
Les disciples lui disent : « Où trouverons-nous dans un désert assez de pain pour qu'une telle foule mange à sa faim ? »
Jésus leur dit : « Combien de pains avez-vous ? » Ils dirent : « Sept, et quelques petits poissons. »
Alors il ordonna à la foule de s'asseoir par terre.
Il prit les sept pains et les poissons, il rendit grâce, les rompit, et il les donnait aux disciples, et les disciples aux foules.
Tous mangèrent à leur faim ; et, des morceaux qui restaient, on ramassa sept corbeilles pleines.

Le message

C’est le Seigneur qui nous invite à partager. La multiplication est un travail du Seigneur, pourtant Il a besoin de nous et nos petits pains du jour.

Puisqu’Il est un Dieu de miséricorde, Il voit nos souffrances quotidiennes et Il y répond positivement à travers nos frères et sœurs.

Ayons ce regard et ce comportement du Seigneur dans notre vie quotidienne. Osons lui apporter nos petits pains et Il les multipliera pour nous. Faisons confiance au Seigneur et Il nous accompagnera sur nos chemins.

Gospel text (Mt 15,29-37):

Jesus went to the shore of Lake Galilee, and then went up into the hills where he sat down. Great crowds came to him, bringing the dumb, the blind, the lame, the crippled, and many with other infirmities. The people carried them to the feet of Jesus, and he healed them. All were astonished when they saw the dumb speaking, the lame walking, the crippled healed and the blind able to see; so they glorified the God of Israel.

Jesus called his disciples and said to them, «I am filled with compassion for these people; they have already followed me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they may faint on the way». His disciples said to him, «And where shall we find enough bread in this wilderness to feed such a crowd?». Jesus said to them, «How many loaves do you have?». They answered, «Seven, and a few small fish». So Jesus ordered the people to sit on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the small fish and gave thanks to God. He broke them and gave them to his disciples, who distributed them to the people.

The message

We all know well about this story of the gospel. I wish to invite you all to look at the way Jesus look at things and the way the disciples look at the same situation. In a particular situation Jesus looks at what the disciples have and the disciples look at what they don’t have. The way to happiness is to search what we have and one day we will find them which give birth to the positive feeling of happiness. If we look what we don’t have then it will give birth to negative thoughts and will lead to disappointment and discourage.

This story of multiplication of bread do invites us to open ourselves and share with others what we have. How much God is in need of our participation in the accomplishment of the mission of the Father……..! The multiplication is God’s work and all that we are asked to do is bring everything at the feet of the Lord and allow Him to work in us and though us.

(Lc 10, 21-24)

Jésus exultant de joie sous l'action de l'Esprit Saint, dit : « Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, je proclame ta louange : ce que tu as caché aux sages et aux savants, tu l'as révélé aux tout-petits. Oui, Père, tu l'as voulu ainsi dans ta bonté. Tout m'a été confié par mon Père ; personne ne connaît qui est le Fils, sinon le Père, et personne ne connaît qui est le Père, sinon le Fils et celui à qui le Fils veut le révéler. »
Puis il se tourna vers ses disciples et leur dit en particulier : « Heureux les yeux qui voient ce que vous voyez ! Car, je vous le déclare : beaucoup de prophètes et de rois ont voulu voir ce que vous voyez, et ne l'ont pas vu, entendre ce que vous entendez, et ne l'ont pas entendu. »

Le message

Même si la révélation est universelle et accessible à tout le monde, nous avons besoin de grâce de Dieu pour la comprendre. Si notre vie est remplie d’individualisme, d’égoïsme et d’orgueil, comment la grâce peut y pénétrer ? Pour accueillir cette grâce de Dieu, nous devons laisser notre cœur ouvert comme les enfants. C’est dans cette humilité et d’ouverture du cœur que nous pourrions profiter les fruits de la révélation.

Aujourd’hui Jésus exulte de joie sous l’action de l’Esprit Saint. Grâce à l’Esprit Saint Dieu nous élève et Il nous rend capable d’accueillir le Christ Dans nos cœurs. Comme saint François Xavier annonçons cette Bonne Nouvelle de l’arrivé du Seigneur et de sa proximité chez les hommes. Saint père François nous a dit dans son exhortation récente que chacun et chacune a reçu une mission, nous sommes les missionnaires et que nous les soyons.

Gospel text (Lc 10,21-24):

Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and said, «I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and made them known to the little ones. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. I have been given all things by my Father, so that no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal him».

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said to them privately, «Fortunate are you to see what you see, for I tell you that many prophets and kings would have liked to see what you see but did not, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it».

The message

Even though the revelation is for all, only the poor and little children could taste the fruit of this revelation, because they believed in this revelation, they were open to the newness and they were humble to listen to the Word of the Lord. We need the grace of God to see this revelation and believe. Jesus is influenced by the Holy Spirit and expresses His joy. He is happy that these poor and little children could see the Christ in Him and be saved.

Today we are celebrating the feast of Saint Francis Xavier one of the great missionaries of India. Guided by the Holy Spirit He announced this Joy of the Lord and proclaimed His presence amidst us. The same Holy Spirit is calling us and making us missionaries. Our Holy Father Francis has said in his recent exhortation ‘Joy of the Gospel’ that we all have received a mission from the Lord and we all are missionaries. Let us announce the Joy that this revelation has given to us and share this with our brothers and sisters.

Jésus était entré à Capharnaüm ; un centurion de l'armée romaine vint à lui et le supplia :
« Seigneur, mon serviteur est au lit, chez moi, paralysé, et il souffre terriblement. »
Jésus lui dit : « Je vais aller le guérir. »
Le centurion reprit : « Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit, mais dis seulement une parole et mon serviteur sera guéri. Ainsi, moi qui suis soumis à une autorité, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres ; je dis à l'un : 'Va', et il va, à un autre : 'Viens', et il vient, et à mon esclave : 'Fais ceci', et il le fait. »
À ces mots, Jésus fut dans l'admiration et dit à ceux qui le suivaient : « Amen, je vous le déclare, chez personne en Israël, je n'ai trouvé une telle foi. Aussi je vous le dis : Beaucoup viendront de l'orient et de l'occident et prendront place avec Abraham, lsaac et Jacob au festin du Royaume des cieux. »

Le message

Un homme d’autorité vient vers Jésus et le reconnu comme sauveur du monde. S’il est allé à la rencontre du Seigneur, c’est parce qu’il a aimait son serviteur qui était malade. L’amour lui a poussé vers le Seigneur. Si le Seigneur est venu pour nous sauver, ce parce qu’il nous aime. C’est dans cet amour qu’il s’est donné à la Croix.

Si nous voulons mesurer la qualité de la vie chrétienne, c’est dans cet amour que nous devons la mesurer : l’amour divin et l’amour humain. Que ce temps d’Avent soit rempli de cet amour divin et que nous arrivions partager cet amour avec les uns les autres.

Gospel text (Mt 8,5-11):

When Jesus entered Capernaum, an army captain approached him to ask his help, «Sir, my servant lies sick at home. He is paralyzed and suffers terribly». Jesus said to him, «I will come and heal him». The captain answered, «I am not worthy to have you under my roof. Just give an order and my boy will be healed. For I myself, a junior officer, give orders to my soldiers. And if I say to one: ‘Go’, he goes, and if I say to another: ‘Come’, he comes, and to my servant: ‘Do this’, he does it».

When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those who were following him, «I tell you, I have not found such faith in Israel. I say to you, many will come from east and west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of heaven».

The message

We are in the season of Advent, a season of waiting, preparation and reconciliation. The faith of this captain reminds us his love for his servant and his humility. A man of authority comes and bows down before Jesus and expresses his unworthiness to have Jesus in his house.

The incarnation is a sign of God’s love for us and God in his humility have taken the form of a perishable matter to raise us up to Him. Our Christian faith is built on this love and divine humility. During this season of Advent, let our lives be dominated by this divine love and humility be one the virtue to dominate our behavior towards others.

Let us have the same behavior of publican who remained our side of the temple and prayed, “Lord Have mercy on me.” And we will return home being justified by the Lord.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Matthieu

(Mt 24, 37-44)

Jésus parlait à ses disciples de sa venue : « L'avènement du Fils de l'homme ressemblera à ce qui s'est passé à l'époque de Noé.
À cette époque, avant le déluge, on mangeait, on buvait, on se mariait, jusqu'au jour où Noé entra dans l'arche.
Les gens ne se sont doutés de rien, jusqu'au déluge qui les a tous engloutis : tel sera aussi l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
Deux hommes seront aux champs : l'un est pris, l'autre laissé.
Deux femmes seront au moulin : l'une est prise, l'autre laissée.
Veillez donc, car vous ne connaissez pas le jour où votre Seigneur viendra.
Vous le savez bien : si le maître de maison avait su à quelle heure de la nuit le voleur viendrait, il aurait veillé et n'aurait pas laissé percer le mur de sa maison.
Tenez-vous donc prêts, vous aussi : c'est à l'heure où vous n'y penserez pas que le Fils de l'homme viendra. »

L’homélie

« Veillez donc, car vous ne connaissez pas le jour où votre Seigneur viendra. » Heureusement nous ne devons pas nous paniquer, car nous sommes les enfants de la lumière, et nous attentons au jour du Seigneur avec une grande joie. L’Eglise universelle nous propose quatre dimanche de préparation pour que nous puissions accueillir l’enfant Jésus dignement dans nos cœurs.

Aujourd’hui pour la méditation je vous proposerais trois mots clés : Marcher, veiller et prier. Nous marchons vers la lumière du Christ dans la joie. Le prophète Isaïe nous donne cette joie avec l’espérance en disant que le Seigneur viendra pour nous apporter la paix. Si nous voulons l’accueillir dignement dans nos cœurs, nous devons nous préparer. Dans la deuxième lecture saint Paul nous montre le chemin sur lequel nous devons marcher et comment nous pouvons nous préparer. « Rejetons les activités des ténèbres, revêtons-nous pour le combat de la lumière. Conduisons-nous honnêtement,………………..mais revêtez le Seigneur Jésus Christ.» Ce n’est en Jésus Christ et par lui que nous pouvons nous préparer.

Nous ne pouvons pas marcher en fermant les yeux. Nous sommes appelés à vivre notre vie au présent. Le Seigneur a dit à la Croix au bon malfaiteur, je te déclare, aujourd’hui tu seras avec moi dans le paradis. Il faut ouvrir les yeux et regarder les événements qui se passent autour de nous. Ces événements nous racontent une histoire vraie et pure par laquelle le Seigneur nous parle, nous communique, nous aime et Il nous donne l’espérance. Veillons nos comportement, nos actions et nos pensés. Dans ce monde qui est envahit par les violences et par les ténèbres, que nous soyons les veilleurs et passeurs de la lumière, le Christ.

Si nous voulons marcher sur le bon chemin, suivre le Seigneur dans notre vie quotidienne, et devenir les veilleurs et passeurs de la lumière, nous devons nous unis dans le Seigneur par la prière. Sans prière, nous ne pouvons jamais écouter le Seigneur. Sans l’écouter, nous ne pouvons pas connaitre la volonté du Père, sans connaitre la volonté du Père, nous risquons de faire notre propre volonté.

Que ces jours d’attendes pour le Seigneur soit une occasion de nous réconcilier avec le Seigneur. Aujourd’hui nous pouvons joindre avec le psalmiste en chantant ensemble « allons dans la joie à la rencontre du Seigneur », Amen.

Gospel text (Mt 24,37-44):

Jesus said to his disciples, «At the coming of the Son of Man it will be just as it was in the time of Noah. In those days before the Flood, people were eating and drinking, and marrying, until the day when Noah went into the ark. Yet they did not know what would happen until the flood came and swept them away. So will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. Of two men in the field, one will be taken and the other left. Of two women grinding wheat together at the mill, one will be taken and the other left.

»Stay awake, then, for you do not know on what day your Lord will come. Just think about this: if the owner of the house knew that the thief would come by night around a certain hour, he would stay awake to prevent his house to be broken into. So be alert, for the Son of Man will come at the hour you least expect».

Homily

" Watch therefore, for you do not know on which day your Lord will come. " Fortunately we do not need to panic us, because we are children of light, and we eagerly looking and longing for the Lord's day with great joy . The universal Church offers us four Sundays of preparation so that we can welcome the child Jesus worthily in our hearts.

Every Advent is a time of preparation and waiting. Waiting for the Lord and preparing us to receive Him in our hearts. Our holy father Francis wrote in his last encyclical that our waiting is not only for the new born child, but also the second coming of the Lord.
After reading all the readings of the day I suggest you three keywords for meditation : Walking, watch and pray . We walk toward the light of Christ in joy. The prophet Isaiah gives us this joy with hope by saying that the Lord will come to bring us peace. If we want to welcome the Lord with dignity in our hearts, we must prepare our hearts, the residence of the Lord. In the second reading St. Paul shows us the path we must walk and the way we can prepare ourselves. Here he gives a code of conduct and invites us to follow Jesus in a radical way " Reject the works of darkness , let us put to the battle of light. Let us walk honestly , .................... but put on the Lord Jesus Christ.” It is only in Jesus Christ and through Him that we can prepare . Putting on Jesus is decorating our lives with biblical value system and indirectly becoming Jesus Himself to the world.

We cannot walk by closing our eyes . We are called to live our lives today, but keeping our eyes fixed to the eschatological hope, without forgetting the present world . The Lord said to the good thief on the cross , I declare to you , today you will be with me in paradise. Salvation is not necessarily of the future, but it begins already on this earthly life. We must open our eyes and look at the events happening around us. These events tell a true and pure history in which the Lord speaks to us and through these events He loves us and gives us hope . Let's make an examination of conscience and evaluate our behavior , our actions and our thoughts . In a world that is overrun by violence and darkness, we are the watchers and promoters of light, the Christ.

If we want to walk on the right path , follow the Lord in our daily lives , and become watch and be the light of the world, we have to be united in the Lord in prayer . Without prayer, we can never listen to the Lord . Without listening , we cannot know the Father , without knowing the Father's will , we may risk of doing our own will in His name.

These days of waiting for the Lord, let us not forget this wonderful opportunity offered to us to get reconciled with the Lord. Today we join with the psalmist singing together " will rejoice to meet the Lord ," . Let us begin this season of Advent with joy and hope. May God bless you all, Amen.
