saint Jean 3,7b-15.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à Nicodème : « Il vous faut naître d’en haut.
Le vent souffle où il veut : tu entends sa voix, mais tu ne sais ni d’où il vient ni où il va. Il en est ainsi pour qui est né du souffle de l’Esprit. »
Nicodème reprit : « Comment cela peut-il se faire ? »
Jésus lui répondit : « Tu es un maître qui enseigne Israël et tu ne connais pas ces choses-là ?
Amen, amen, je te le dis : nous parlons de ce que nous savons, nous témoignons de ce que nous avons vu, et vous ne recevez pas notre témoignage.
Si vous ne croyez pas lorsque je vous parle des choses de la terre, comment croirez-vous quand je vous parlerai des choses du ciel ?
Car nul n’est monté au ciel sinon celui qui est descendu du ciel, le Fils de l’homme.
De même que le serpent de bronze fut élevé par Moïse dans le désert, ainsi faut-il que le Fils de l’homme soit élevé,
afin qu’en lui tout homme qui croit ait la vie éternelle. »

« Tu ne sais pas d'où il vient ni où il va »

Dieu tout-puissant, selon l'apôtre Paul ton Esprit Saint « scrute et connaît les profondeurs de ton être » (1Co 2,10-11), et il intercède pour moi, te parle à ma place par des « gémissements inexprimables » (Rm 8,26)... Rien en dehors de toi ne scrute ton mystère ; rien qui soit étranger à toi n'est assez puissant pour mesurer la profondeur de ta majesté infinie. Tout ce qui pénètre en toi est de toi ; rien de ce qui est extérieur à toi n'a le pouvoir de te sonder..

Je crois fermement que ton Esprit Saint vient de toi par ton Fils unique ; même si je ne comprends pas ce mystère, j'en garde la conviction profonde. Car dans les réalités spirituelles qui sont ton domaine, mon esprit est borné, comme l'assure ton Fils unique : « Ne t'étonne pas si je t'ai dit : Il vous faut naître d'en haut. Car l'Esprit Saint souffle où il veut ; tu entends sa voix, mais tu ne sais ni d'où il vient, ni où il va. Ainsi en est-il de quiconque est né de l'eau et de l'Esprit ».

Je crois à ma nouvelle naissance sans la comprendre, et je tiens bon dans la foi ce qui m'échappe. Je sais que j'ai le pouvoir de renaître, mais je ne sais pas comment cela s'accomplit. L'Esprit n'est limité par rien ; il parle quand il veut, il dit ce qu'il veut et où il veut. La raison de son départ et de sa venue me reste inconnue, mais j'ai la conviction profonde de sa présence.

"You do not know where it comes from or where it goes"

O Almighty God: according to the apostle Paul your Holy Spirit “scrutinizes and knows the depths of your being” (1 Cor 2, 10-11) and intercedes for me by speaking to you with “inexpressible groanings” (Rom 8,26)… But nothing apart from you can scrutinize your mysteriousness; nothing foreign to you is powerful enough to sound the depths of your infinite majesty. All that enters into you is part of you; nothing outside yourself is able to fathom you…

I firmly believe that your Holy Spirit comes from you through your only Son. Even if I fail to understand this mystery yet I am firmly convinced of it. For my spirit is contained within spiritual mysteries that are your province, as your only Son assures: “Do not be amazed that I told you, 'You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

I believe in my new birth without understanding it and stand firm in a faith I cannot pin down. I know I have the ability to be born again yet I do not know how it is carried out. The Spirit is not restricted by anything: he speaks when he wishes, says what and where he wishes. The reasons for his coming and going are unknown to me, but I am profoundly sure of his presence.

saint Luc 1,26-38.

En ce temps-là, l’ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth,
à une jeune fille vierge, accordée en mariage à un homme de la maison de David, appelé Joseph ; et le nom de la jeune fille était Marie.
L’ange entra chez elle et dit : « Je te salue, Comblée-de-grâce, le Seigneur est avec toi. »
À cette parole, elle fut toute bouleversée, et elle se demandait ce que pouvait signifier cette salutation.
L’ange lui dit alors : « Sois sans crainte, Marie, car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu.
Voici que tu vas concevoir et enfanter un fils ; tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus.
Il sera grand, il sera appelé Fils du Très-Haut ; le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père ;
il régnera pour toujours sur la maison de Jacob, et son règne n’aura pas de fin. »
Marie dit à l’ange : « Comment cela va-t-il se faire puisque je ne connais pas d’homme ? »
L’ange lui répondit : « L’Esprit Saint viendra sur toi, et la puissance du Très-Haut te prendra sous son ombre ; c’est pourquoi celui qui va naître sera saint, il sera appelé Fils de Dieu.
Or voici que, dans sa vieillesse, Élisabeth, ta parente, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils et en est à son sixième mois, alors qu’on l’appelait la femme stérile.
Car rien n’est impossible à Dieu. »
Marie dit alors : « Voici la servante du Seigneur ; que tout m’advienne selon ta parole. » Alors l’ange la quitta.

« Le Tout-Puissant a fait pour moi des merveilles » (Lc 1,49)

Marie, temple de la Trinité, foyer de feu divin, Mère de miséricorde..., tu es la tige nouvelle (Is 11,1) qui a produit la fleur qui embaume le monde, le Verbe, le Fils unique de Dieu. C'est en toi, terre féconde, que ce Verbe a été semé (Mt 13,3s). Tu as caché le feu dans la cendre de notre humanité. Vase d'humilité où brûle la lumière de la sagesse véritable..., par le feu de ton amour, par la flamme de ton humilité, tu as attiré à toi et vers nous le Père éternel...

Grâce à cette lumière, ô Marie, tu n'as jamais été comme les vierges insensées (Mt 25,1s), mais tu étais remplie de la vertu de prudence. C'est pour cela que tu as voulu savoir comment pourrait s'accomplir ce que l'ange t'annonçait. Tu savais que « Tout est possible à Dieu » ; tu n'en avais aucun doute. Pourquoi dire alors : « Je ne connais pas d'homme » ?

Ce n'était pas la foi qui te manquait ; c'était ton humilité profonde qui te faisait dire cela. Tu ne doutais pas de la puissance de Dieu ; tu te regardais comme indigne d'un si grand prodige. Si tu as été troublée par la parole de l'ange, ce n'était pas par crainte. À la lumière même de Dieu, il me semble que c'était plutôt par admiration. Et qu'est-ce que tu admirais, ô Marie, sinon l'immensité de la bonté de Dieu ? Te regardant toi-même, tu te jugeais indigne de cette grâce et tu demeurais stupéfaite. Ta question est la preuve de ton humilité. Tu n'étais pas remplie de crainte, mais uniquement d'admiration devant l'immense bonté de Dieu, comparée à ta petitesse, à ton humble condition (Lc 1,48).

“God who is mighty has done great things for me.” (Lk 1:49)

Mary, temple of the Trinity, hearth of divine fire, mother of mercy…, you are the new shoot (Isa 11:1), which brought forth the flower that gives fragrance to the world, the Word, the only Son of God. This Word was sown in you, fertile earth (Mt 13:3ff.). You hid the fire in the ashes of our humanity. Vessel of humility, where the light of true wisdom burns…, by the fire of your love, by the flame of your humility, you drew the eternal Father to yourself and to us…

Thanks to that light, O Mary, you were never like the foolish virgins (Mt 25:1ff.), but you were filled with the virtue of prudence. That is why you wanted to know how the angel’s words to you could be accomplished. You knew that “nothing is impossible with God”; you had no doubt of that. So why say: “I do not know man”?

It was not because you were lacking in faith; your profound humility made you say that. You did not doubt God’s power; you saw yourself as unworthy of such a great marvel. You were troubled by the angel’s word; it was not out of fear. In the very light of God, it seems to me that it was rather out of admiration. And what did you admire, O Mary, if not the immensity of God’s goodness? Looking at yourself, you considered yourself to be unworthy of that grace and it left you stupefied. Your question is the proof of your humility. You were not filled with fear, but only with admiration before the immense goodness of God compared to your littleness, to your humble condition (Lk 1:48).

saint Marc 16,9-15.

Ressuscité le matin, le premier jour de la semaine, Jésus apparut d’abord à Marie Madeleine, de laquelle il avait expulsé sept démons.
Celle-ci partit annoncer la nouvelle à ceux qui, ayant vécu avec lui, s’affligeaient et pleuraient.
Quand ils entendirent que Jésus était vivant et qu’elle l’avait vu, ils refusèrent de croire.
Après cela, il se manifesta sous un autre aspect à deux d’entre eux qui étaient en chemin pour aller à la campagne.
Ceux-ci revinrent l’annoncer aux autres, qui ne les crurent pas non plus.
Enfin, il se manifesta aux Onze eux-mêmes pendant qu’ils étaient à table : il leur reprocha leur manque de foi et la dureté de leurs cœurs parce qu’ils n’avaient pas cru ceux qui l’avaient contemplé ressuscité.
Puis il leur dit : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez l’Évangile à toute la création. »

« Ceux qui avaient été ses compagnons étaient dans le deuil et les larmes... Il leur dit : ' Allez dans le monde entier, proclamer la Bonne Nouvelle ' »

Ne soyons pas pris par le spectacle des choses de ce monde ; que les biens de la terre ne détournent pas nos regards du ciel. Tenons pour dépassé ce qui n'est déjà presque plus rien ; que notre esprit, attaché à ce qui doit demeurer, fixe son désir aux promesses d'éternité. Bien que nous ne sommes encore « sauvés qu'en espérance » (Rm 8,24), bien que nous portions encore une chair sujette à la corruption et à la mort, on peut bien affirmer pourtant que nous vivons hors de la chair, si nous échappons à l'emprise de ses passions. Non, nous ne méritons plus le nom de cette chair dont nous avons fait taire les appels...

Que le peuple de Dieu donc prenne conscience qu'il est « une créature nouvelle dans le Christ » (2Co 5,17). Qu'il comprenne bien qui l'a choisi, et qui il a lui-même choisi. Que l'être nouveau ne retourne pas à l'inconstance de son état ancien. Que « celui qui a mis la main à la charrue » (Lc 9,62) ne cesse de travailler, qu'il veille au grain qu'il a semé, qu'il ne se retourne pas vers ce qu'il a abandonné. Que personne ne retombe dans la déchéance d'où il s'est relevé. Et si, parce que la chair est faible, quelqu'un gît encore dans une de ses maladies, qu'il prenne la ferme résolution de guérir et de s'en relever. Telle est la voie du salut ; telle est la manière d'imiter la résurrection commencée dans le Christ... Que nos pas quittent les sables mouvants pour marcher sur la terre ferme, car il est écrit : « Le Seigneur mène les pas de l'homme et sa marche lui plaît. Quand le juste vient à tomber, il ne reste pas à terre, car le Seigneur lui tient la main » (Ps 36,23s).

Frères bien-aimés, gardez bien ces réflexions à l'esprit, non seulement pour célébrer les fêtes de Pâques, mais pour sanctifier toute votre vie.

"Those who had been his companions were mourning and weeping... He said to them, 'Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature' "

Let us not be taken up with the appearances of temporal matters, neither let our contemplations be diverted from heavenly to earthly things. Reckon as being in the past those things that are already almost not worth thinking about and let the mind, intent on what is permanent, fix its desires there where what is offered is eternal. For although “by hope we were saved” (Rom 8,24) and still bear about with us a flesh that is corruptible and mortal, yet we are rightly said not to be in the flesh if our fleshly desires do not dominate us. Yes, we are justified in ceasing to be named after that, the will of which we no longer follow…

Let God’s people, then, recognise that they are “a new creation in Christ” (2Cor 5,17) and with all vigilance understand by whom they have been adopted and whom they themselves have adopted. Let not those things that have been made new go back to their former instability. Let not him who has “put his hand to the plough” (Lk 9,62) forsake his work, but let him pay attention to what he is sowing and not look back to what he has left behind. Let no one fall back into that from which he has risen. But, even though from bodily weakness he still languishes under certain maladies, let him urgently desire to be healed and raised up. For this is the path of healing; this is how we imitate the resurrection begun in Christ… May our feet be guided from the quagmire on to solid ground, for, as it is written: “By the Lord are the steps of a man made firm, and he approves his way. Though he fall, he does not lie prostrate, for the hand of the Lord sustains him,” (Ps 37[36],23).

These thoughts, beloved brethren, must be kept in mind not only for the Easter festival but also for the sanctification of your whole life.

saint Jean 21,1-14.

En ce temps-là, Jésus se manifesta encore aux disciples sur le bord de la mer de Tibériade, et voici comment.
Il y avait là, ensemble, Simon-Pierre, avec Thomas, appelé Didyme (c’est-à-dire Jumeau), Nathanaël, de Cana de Galilée, les fils de Zébédée, et deux autres de ses disciples.
Simon-Pierre leur dit : « Je m’en vais à la pêche. » Ils lui répondent : « Nous aussi, nous allons avec toi. » Ils partirent et montèrent dans la barque ; or, cette nuit-là, ils ne prirent rien.
Au lever du jour, Jésus se tenait sur le rivage, mais les disciples ne savaient pas que c’était lui.
Jésus leur dit : « Les enfants, auriez-vous quelque chose à manger ? » Ils lui répondirent : « Non. »
Il leur dit : « Jetez le filet à droite de la barque, et vous trouverez. » Ils jetèrent donc le filet, et cette fois ils n’arrivaient pas à le tirer, tellement il y avait de poissons.
Alors, le disciple que Jésus aimait dit à Pierre : « C’est le Seigneur ! » Quand Simon-Pierre entendit que c’était le Seigneur, il passa un vêtement, car il n’avait rien sur lui, et il se jeta à l’eau.
Les autres disciples arrivèrent en barque, traînant le filet plein de poissons ; la terre n’était qu’à une centaine de mètres.
Une fois descendus à terre, ils aperçoivent, disposé là, un feu de braise avec du poisson posé dessus, et du pain.
Jésus leur dit : « Apportez donc de ces poissons que vous venez de prendre. »
Simon-Pierre remonta et tira jusqu’à terre le filet plein de gros poissons : il y en avait cent cinquante-trois. Et, malgré cette quantité, le filet ne s’était pas déchiré.
Jésus leur dit alors : « Venez manger. » Aucun des disciples n’osait lui demander : « Qui es-tu ? » Ils savaient que c’était le Seigneur.
Jésus s’approche ; il prend le pain et le leur donne ; et de même pour le poisson.
C’était la troisième fois que Jésus ressuscité d’entre les morts se manifestait à ses disciples.

« Au lever du jour, Jésus était là sur le rivage »

Ce jour qu'a fait le Seigneur (Ps 117,24) pénètre tout ; il contient tout, il embrasse tout, ciel, terre et enfer ! ... Et quel est ce jour du ciel sinon le Christ, dont parle le prophète : « Le jour au jour énonce le récit » (Ps 18,3). Oui, ce jour est le Fils à qui le Père, qui est aussi la lumière du jour, énonce le secret de sa divinité. C'est lui, ce jour qui dit par la voix du Sage : « J'ai créé un jour qui se lèvera à jamais dans le ciel » (Si 24,32)... Ainsi la lumière du Christ luit à jamais, elle rayonne, elle flamboie, et les ténèbres du péché ne peuvent l'étreindre. « La lumière brille dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont pas retenue » (Jn 1,5).

À la résurrection du Christ, tous les éléments sont glorifiés ; je suis sûr que le soleil a brillé ce jour-là d'un plus vif éclat. Ne devait-il pas entrer dans la joie de la résurrection, lui qui s'était attristé à la mort du Christ ? (Mt 27,45)... Comme un serviteur fidèle, il s'est obscurci pour accompagner le Christ dans la tombe ; aujourd'hui, il doit resplendir pour saluer la résurrection... Frères, réjouissons-nous en ce saint jour ; que nul, au souvenir de son péché, ne se dérobe à la joie commune ! Que personne ne désespère du pardon. Une faveur immense l'attend. Si le Seigneur, sur la croix, a eu pitié d'un bandit..., de quels bienfaits la gloire de sa résurrection ne nous comblera-t-elle pas ?

1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing. 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." 6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish.

7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his clothes, for he was stripped for work, and sprang into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. 9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish lying on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just caught." 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

The message

Once again they are invited to share the bread and the disciples have discovered the Resurrected, the One sent by the Father to accompany them and to enrich them with the divine teachings. It is by the name of Jesus that Peter has realised a big catch. It is by the same name they heal and do all the miracles.

To do such great things, we should never be alone. Peter has decided to go alone without Jesus and he later realised the importance of Jesus with him. It was the disciple whom Jesus loved has helped Peter to discover the presence of Christ. People who love God can help us to identify the divine presence in our life. Only if our life is filled with love for God that we can become the witness of divine presence in the world. Do we love God?

saint Luc 24,35-48.

En ce temps-là, les disciples qui rentraient d’Emmaüs racontaient aux onze Apôtres et à leurs compagnons ce qui s’était passé sur la route, et comment le Seigneur s’était fait reconnaître par eux à la fraction du pain.
Comme ils en parlaient encore, lui-même fut présent au milieu d’eux, et leur dit : « La paix soit avec vous ! »
Saisis de frayeur et de crainte, ils croyaient voir un esprit.
Jésus leur dit : « Pourquoi êtes-vous bouleversés ? Et pourquoi ces pensées qui surgissent dans votre cœur ?
Voyez mes mains et mes pieds : c’est bien moi ! Touchez-moi, regardez : un esprit n’a pas de chair ni d’os comme vous constatez que j’en ai. »
Après cette parole, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.
Dans leur joie, ils n’osaient pas encore y croire, et restaient saisis d’étonnement. Jésus leur dit : « Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger ? »
Ils lui présentèrent une part de poisson grillé
qu’il prit et mangea devant eux.
Puis il leur déclara : « Voici les paroles que je vous ai dites quand j’étais encore avec vous : Il faut que s’accomplisse tout ce qui a été écrit à mon sujet dans la loi de Moïse, les Prophètes et les Psaumes. »
Alors il ouvrit leur intelligence à la compréhension des Écritures.
Il leur dit : « Ainsi est-il écrit que le Christ souffrirait, qu’il ressusciterait d’entre les morts le troisième jour,
et que la conversion serait proclamée en son nom, pour le pardon des péchés, à toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem.
À vous d’en être les témoins.

« La paix soit avec vous »

Le cœur de chaque chrétien devrait représenter en miniature l'Église catholique, puisque le même Esprit fait de l'Église tout entière aussi bien que de chacun de ses membres le Temple de Dieu (1Co 3,16). Comme il fait l'unité de l'Église qui, laissée à elle-même, se diviserait en de nombreux partis, ainsi il rend l'âme une, en dépit de ses divers goûts et facultés, de ses tendances contradictoires. De même qu'il donne la paix à la multitude des nations qui sont de par leur nature en discorde les unes avec les autres, de même il soumet l'âme à une gérance ordonnée et il établit la raison et la conscience comme souverains sur les aspects inférieurs de notre nature... Et soyons bien assurés que ces deux opérations de notre divin Consolateur dépendent l'une de l'autre. Tant que les chrétiens ne rechercheront pas l'unité et la paix intérieures en leur propre cœur, jamais l'Église elle-même ne sera dans la paix et l'unité au sein de ce monde qui les entoure. Et de façon à peu près semblable, tandis que l'Eglise à travers le monde est dans cet état de désordre lamentable que nous constatons, il n'est aucun pays en particulier, simple portion de cette Église, qui ne soit nécessairement lui-même dans un état de grande confusion religieuse.

C'est là une chose à laquelle il nous faut bien songer à l'heure actuelle, car elle tempérera nos espoirs et dissipera nos illusions ; nous ne pouvons pas espérer la paix chez nous si nous sommes en guerre au-dehors.

The message

The life of the Apostles and their difficulty to believe do help us to grow with hope in our faith, which is very often weak in our personal engagement. While looking at their personal life we are assured that if our engagement is sincere and faithful in what we desire to do, God will take the initiative to come and help us to learn and grow. The way Jesus has accompanied the Apostles without judging or accusing them, do encourage us to advance in our faith, even if we fail or fall again and again in our personal life.

Though Jesus did lot of miracles, He doesn’t repeat the same to teach the faith to His Apostles. Since Faith is the gift of God and our personal engagement is imperative to live this Faith, God will never force us to advance. He will however accompany us and will march with us, as He has done with the disciples of Emmaus.

By eating with the disciples Jesus is teaching us the best way to live and express our faith: sharing what we have and by inviting others to participate in our joy. It is in the sharing of the Bread that the disciples have discovered the mystery of resurrection and all that was written about Jesus in the Scriptures: the Cross, the death and the Resurrection. If this sharing of bread is not part of our Faith, then there is something very essential of our Christian witnessing life is missing.

comment les grands prêtres et nos chefs l’ont livré, ils l’ont fait condamner à mort et ils l’ont crucifié.
Nous, nous espérions que c’était lui qui allait délivrer Israël. Mais avec tout cela, voici déjà le troisième jour qui passe depuis que c’est arrivé.
À vrai dire, des femmes de notre groupe nous ont remplis de stupeur. Quand, dès l’aurore, elles sont allées au tombeau,
elles n’ont pas trouvé son corps ; elles sont venues nous dire qu’elles avaient même eu une vision : des anges, qui disaient qu’il est vivant.
Quelques-uns de nos compagnons sont allés au tombeau, et ils ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes l’avaient dit ; mais lui, ils ne l’ont pas vu. »
Il leur dit alors : « Esprits sans intelligence ! Comme votre cœur est lent à croire tout ce que les prophètes ont dit !
Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît cela pour entrer dans sa gloire ? »
Et, partant de Moïse et de tous les Prophètes, il leur interpréta, dans toute l’Écriture, ce qui le concernait.
Quand ils approchèrent du village où ils se rendaient, Jésus fit semblant d’aller plus loin.
Mais ils s’efforcèrent de le retenir : « Reste avec nous, car le soir approche et déjà le jour baisse. » Il entra donc pour rester avec eux.
Quand il fut à table avec eux, ayant pris le pain, il prononça la bénédiction et, l’ayant rompu, il le leur donna.
Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent, mais il disparut à leurs regards.
Ils se dirent l’un à l’autre : « Notre cœur n’était-il pas brûlant en nous, tandis qu’il nous parlait sur la route et nous ouvrait les Écritures ? »
À l’instant même, ils se levèrent et retournèrent à Jérusalem. Ils y trouvèrent réunis les onze Apôtres et leurs compagnons, qui leur dirent :
« Le Seigneur est réellement ressuscité : il est apparu à Simon-Pierre. »
À leur tour, ils racontaient ce qui s’était passé sur la route, et comment le Seigneur s’était fait reconnaître par eux à la fraction du pain.

« Il marchait avec eux »

Le même Sauveur, que la Parole de l'Écriture nous met sous les yeux dans son humanité en nous le montrant sur tous les chemins qu'il a parcourus sur la terre, habite parmi nous caché sous l'apparence du pain eucharistique, il vient à nous tous les jours comme Pain de Vie. Dans ces deux aspects, il se fait proche de nous et sous ces deux aspects il désire que nous le cherchions et que nous le trouvions. L'un appelle l'autre. Lorsque nous voyons avec les yeux de la foi le Sauveur devant nous, comme l'Ecriture nous le dépeint, alors grandit notre désir de l'accueillir en nous dans le Pain de Vie. Le pain eucharistique à son tour avive notre désir de faire toujours plus profondément connaissance avec le Seigneur à partir de la Parole de l'Écriture, et donne des forces à notre esprit pour une meilleure compréhension.

"He walked with them"

The same Savior, whom the written word presents to our eyes on all the paths he trod on earth in human form, lives among us disguised in the form of the eucharistic bread. He comes to us every day as the bread of life. In either of these forms he is near to us; in either of these forms he wants to be sought and found by us. The one supports the other. When we see that Savior before us with the eyes of faith as the Scriptures portray him, then our desire to receive him in the bread of life increases. The eucharistic bread, on the other hand, awakens our desire to get to know the Lord in the written word more and more deeply and strengthens our spirit to get a better understanding.

En ce temps-là, Marie Madeleine se tenait près du tombeau, au-dehors, tout en pleurs. Et en pleurant, elle se pencha vers le tombeau.
Elle aperçoit deux anges vêtus de blanc, assis l’un à la tête et l’autre aux pieds, à l’endroit où avait reposé le corps de Jésus.
Ils lui demandent : « Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu ? » Elle leur répond : « On a enlevé mon Seigneur, et je ne sais pas où on l’a déposé. »
Ayant dit cela, elle se retourna ; elle aperçoit Jésus qui se tenait là, mais elle ne savait pas que c’était Jésus.
Jésus lui dit : « Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu ? Qui cherches-tu ? » Le prenant pour le jardinier, elle lui répond : « Si c’est toi qui l’as emporté, dis-moi où tu l’as déposé, et moi, j’irai le prendre. »
Jésus lui dit alors : « Marie ! » S’étant retournée, elle lui dit en hébreu : « Rabbouni ! », c’est-à-dire : Maître.
Jésus reprend : « Ne me retiens pas, car je ne suis pas encore monté vers le Père. Va trouver mes frères pour leur dire que je monte vers mon Père et votre Père, vers mon Dieu et votre Dieu. »
Marie Madeleine s’en va donc annoncer aux disciples : « J’ai vu le Seigneur ! », et elle raconta ce qu’il lui avait dit.

« Avez-vous vu celui que mon cœur aime ? » (Ct 3,3)

« Pourquoi pleures-tu ? » C'est toi qui es cause de tes larmes, toi qui te fais pleurer... Tu pleures parce que tu ne crois pas au Christ : crois et tu le verras. Le Christ est là, il ne fait jamais défaut à ceux qui le cherchent. « Pourquoi pleures-tu ? » Ce n'est pas les larmes qu'il faut, mais une foi alerte et digne de Dieu. Ne pense pas aux choses mortelles et tu ne pleureras pas... Pourquoi pleurer ce qui réjouit les autres ?

« Qui cherches-tu ? » Ne vois-tu pas que le Christ est la force de Dieu, que le Christ est la sagesse de Dieu, que le Christ est sainteté, que le Christ est chasteté, que le Christ est pureté, que le Christ est né d'une vierge, que le Christ est du Père et auprès du Père et dans le Père toujours ; né et pourtant non pas crée, non pas déchu, toujours aimé, vrai Dieu de vrai Dieu ? « On a enlevé le Seigneur du tombeau et je ne sais où on l'a mis. » Tu te trompes, femme ; tu penses que le Christ a été enlevé du tombeau par d'autres et non pas ressuscité par sa propre puissance. Mais personne n'enlève la puissance de Dieu, personne n'enlève la sagesse de Dieu, personne n'enlève la vénérable chasteté. Le Christ n'est pas enlevé du tombeau du juste ni de l'intime de la vierge et du secret de son âme fidèle ; et même s'il en est qui veulent le ravir, ils ne peuvent l'enlever.

The message

In a troubled state, it is important to verify the reality twice before passing a judgement, because the same reality, though presented to us as a truth, may mislead us drastically, even though in our faithfulness we may be moved by love and compassion. The love that Mary Magdalene has reserved for the Lord, didn’t help her in her first instant to know the truth, the very presence she was searching. For our consolation, the Lord is affirming us that in love, even if we make a mistake in our discernment, He will come in aide to save us, just like He has saved Mary Magdalene and transformed her as a veritable missionary and witness of the Resurrection, by calling her personally to be His chosen one to inform the very Apostles He is forming them.

This story of divine encounter is a veritable love story that we are called to participate and profit in these days for a drastic transformation. If our every act is not motivated by love and love alone, even our faith won’t be able to save us, because we won’t have the capacity to profit from the very faith we have received from the Lord.

In love and humility with an open heart from our part and when this life is graced by the divine intervene, an initiative purely divine, we become the true instruments in the hand of God. To our wonder we will discover that once we allow God to use us in freedom, to our fully capacity and with due efficiency, we will be totally transformed by Christ and in the language of Saint Paul, we become the new creation in Christ. On that day we will proclaim the Good News with certitude like Mary Magdalene, "I have seen the Lord"

Alors Jésus leur dit : « Soyez sans crainte, allez annoncer à mes frères qu’ils doivent se rendre en Galilée : c’est là qu’ils me verront. »
Tandis qu’elles étaient en chemin, quelques-uns des gardes allèrent en ville annoncer aux grands prêtres tout ce qui s’était passé.
Ceux-ci, après s’être réunis avec les anciens et avoir tenu conseil, donnèrent aux soldats une forte somme
en disant : « Voici ce que vous direz : “Ses disciples sont venus voler le corps, la nuit pendant que nous dormions.”
Et si tout cela vient aux oreilles du gouverneur, nous lui expliquerons la chose, et nous vous éviterons tout ennui. »
Les soldats prirent l’argent et suivirent les instructions. Et cette explication s’est propagée chez les Juifs jusqu’à aujourd’hui.

« Venez voir l'endroit où reposait le Seigneur » (Mt 28,6)... Venez voir l'endroit où a été rédigé l'acte garantissant votre résurrection. Venez voir l'endroit où la mort a été ensevelie. Venez voir l'endroit où un corps, grain non semé par l'homme, a produit une multitude d'épis pour l'immortalité... « Allez annoncer à mes frères qu'ils doivent se rendre en Galilée : c'est là qu'ils me verront. Annoncez à mes disciples les mystères que vous avez contemplés. »

Voilà ce que le Seigneur a dit aux femmes. Et maintenant encore, au bord de la piscine baptismale, il se tient invisible auprès des croyants, il embrasse les nouveaux baptisés comme des amis et des frères... Il remplit leurs cœurs et leurs âmes d'allégresse et de joie. Il lave leurs souillures dans les fontaines de sa grâce. Il oint du parfum de l'Esprit ceux qui ont été régénérés. Le Seigneur devient celui qui les nourrit et il devient leur nourriture. Il procure à ses serviteurs leur part de nourriture spirituelle. Il dit à tous les fidèles : « Prenez, mangez le pain du ciel, recevez la source qui jaillit de mon côté, celle où l'on puise toujours sans que jamais elle se tarisse. Vous qui avez faim, rassasiez-vous ; vous qui avez soif, enivrez-vous d'un vin sobre et salutaire. »

The message

It is important to keep the fire still alive in our hearts. The fire blessed on the Easter vigil is a sign of our hope and joy. Strangely we have discovered through the death and resurrection of the Lord that God acts totally different from us and even this risen encounter also happens in a different way.

It is important to notice that the Lord has not chosen the Apostles to announce the resurrection rather these women, the first witness of the resurrection and the first announce of the resurrection. God has His own way of announcing the Good News and His own way of choosing the missionaries.

If we are called to live a missionary life in the family like many of us, in the society by a celibate life for some special people and in a religious community like me, there is also a particular mission entrusted to us. Many of us are ignorant of this mission, because, our love for the Lord is not that deep to understand the special mission entrusted to us.

As the new baptised in our different local churches, who are filled with joy because they have discovered that Jesus is the one who feeds us and at the same time He becomes our nourishment, everyone should experience this nourrishing encounter. We should eat Him and drink Him in every moment of life and this fire of love should spread with a high velocity.

Notre préparation au Carême de quarante jours, nous dira la profondeur de notre foi et notre amour pour le Seigneur, car ces quarante jours nous avons essayé à découvrir la présence de Dieu et son accompagnement dans notre vie quotidienne. Nous voici devant le Ressuscité.

Notre démarche vers le désert nous a aidés à être seuls avec Lui, en contemplation. Aujourd’hui avec certitude nous pouvons affirmer que le désert n’était pas un lieu de vide, mais une richesse qui nous a permis de nous vider pour que nous soyons remplis par sa richesse. Au début, nous n’avons pas voulu y enter, il nous a fit peur. La solitude nous a agacés. Aujourd’hui, nous voudrions y demeurer, car la nouvelle vie recommence à partir de cette rencontre divine.

Le passe-over du passé a perdu son importance devant ce nouveau passe-over. Nous nous ressentons que nous sommes les nouveaux nés dans le Christ, qui nous fait participer à sa résurrection. Par sa mort nous retrouvons notre vie, une vie pleinement auprès Dieu, la vie éternelle.

Une nouvelle vie, avec une nouvelle mission. « Allez dire aux autres que Je suis vivant ». Ne perdons pas l’espérance, ayons confiance. Il reviendra. De notre part, ne le forçons pas de le faire encore une fois, car ça Lui coutera très chère. Ce n’est pas juste. En revanche, nous pouvons nous rentre encore une fois au désert. Ce désert est avec nous et nous pouvons confronter cette solitude lorsque nous ressentons le vide en nous.

Forty days of preparation of Lent, which resembles forty years of March of the people of Israel, will tell the depth of our faith and our love for the Lord. For these forty days we tried to discover the presence of God and hHs guidance in our daily lives. Here we are before the Risen One, one who has given us the new way, new life, the new truth in Him. To Thomas who was disturbed of the new adventure proposed by Christ through death and resurrection, will find a new hope in the resurrection of the Lord.

We have to however accept that our approach to the desert helped us to be alone with Him in contemplation and it is in this contemplation that our action should find its resource. Our solitude with the Lord was in union with people of God, thus in our faith we are united not only to the Lord of peace and reconciliation, but also to all who are connected with the resurrected.

After living a meaningful desert life, today we can say with certainty that the desert was not an empty place, but rich in our personal experience with the Lord that has allowed us to empty ourselves so that we are filled with divine richness. At first sight a solitude life we did not wanted to enter, it does frighten us. Solitude has annoyed us and does disturb us. Today, we would dare to stay there because the new life begins from this divine encounter, a personal encounter, which is possible only in our desert life.

The pass-over from the past has lost its importance to this new pass-over. We feel that we are new-borns in Christ, who makes us participate in His resurrection. By his death we find our life, a life fully to God, eternal life.

A new life, with a new mission. "Go tell others that I am alive." Do not lose hope and have confidence. He will come back. On our part, do not force Him to do it all over again, because it will cost Him dear. It is not fair. However, we can still go for a desert life once again. This desert is with us and we can confront this solitude when we feel within us empty.

Our Lord has taken the cross for us that we may not suffer. Has taken it for us so that we may live in peace and gratitude. The new life that we have received from the Lord may illumine our daily life. Let us not forget the baptismal promise: keep the light of hope, faith and charity alive. I wish you all a holy Easter and God’s blessings. Do pray for me that I may continue to take His cross with mine so that He may lead me towards the resurrection.

Portons avec nous notre propre croix, celle qui ne se matérialise pas mais qui marque douloureusement notre existence, celle de longue maladie, souffrance physique et morale.

Nous tous sommes obligés de porter les croix des autres, comme les siennes, celle d’un déchirement de la vie du couple, les divorces, les séparations, les événements qui se passent autour de nous, nous rappellent les croix qui pèsent douloureusement la vie quotidienne du peuple de Dieu. Voilà la croix que Jésus porte aujourd’hui, celle où il a prié le Père pour nous, celle où il a fini par mourir. Il s'est donné sans limite pour chacune et chacun de nous.

Mettons-nous près de la Croix avec la Mère de Jésus, notre mère, et ses disciples, en silence. Nous pouvons participer au pardon du Seigneur. Ecoutons ce qu’il a dit sur la croix. « J’ai soif » Il a soif de nous, son peuple qu’il aime.

Ce vendredi saint nos regards montent vers la Croix du Seigneur, le signe de l’amour de Dieu, l’unique espérance du monde. Nous avons notre propre croix à porter vers le calvaire qui est le chemin vers la pâque, la résurrection.

La Croix du Seigneur restera toujours un mystère pour nous car nous n’arrivons pas avec notre intelligence à connaitre le choix de la Croix. Pourquoi cette souffrance et souffrir de telle manière ? C’est cette Croix qui nous a sauvé et si nous prenons notre croix quotidienne avec le Seigneur, elle par la grâce de Dieu, nous sauvera. La paix et l’espérance sortiront victorieuses. Mettons notre espérance dans le Seigneur, car c’est la miséricorde de Dieu qui règne. Amen

Today we stand before the Lord's Cross, the glorious Cross and we thank the Lord for taking up our cross, so that we might not suffer, and by his Cross that we may be saved. Let us present ourselves before the Lord and let us allow the Lord to look at us and let us look at the Lord, filled with compassion and love. To profit from this divine encounter, we should carry with us our own cross, which did not materialize towards the resurrection but painfully marks our existence, that of long illness, physical and moral suffering.

Directly or indirectly, we all are called to carry the cross of others, like that of a tear in married life, divorces, separations, the events like terrorist attacks happening around us, remind us of the crosses which painfully weigh the daily of God's people. We can’t as sensible people ignore such events, which are forced in us, and we are part of it. This is the cross that Jesus carries today in us, one in which He prayed to the Father for us, one where He eventually died, which gives us the hope in the resurrection. He gave Himself without limits for each and every one of us on the Cross.

Let us be at the Cross with the Mother of Jesus, our mother, and His disciples, in silence, in full adoration. This will help us to participate in the Lord's forgiveness. Listen to what He said on the cross. "I thirst" He is thirst for us, the people He loves.

This Friday our eyes ascend to the Lord's Cross, the sign of God's love, the only hope of the world which desires to participate in His resurrection. We have our own cross to carry towards Calvary which is the way to Easter, resurrection. Without accepting these cross, we will never see the resurrection.

The Cross of the Lord will always remain a mystery to us because we fail with our intelligence to know and to understand the choice of the Cross. Why this pain has to undertake for the sinners and suffering in a humiliating way? It is the Cross that saved us and if we take our daily cross with the Lord, by the grace of God, our cross will help us to profit the salvation proposed by Jesus and one day, peace and hope will come out victorious. Amen
