Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Jean 14,7-14.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : Puisque vous me connaissez, vous connaîtrez aussi mon Père. Dès maintenant vous le connaissez, et vous l’avez vu. »
Philippe lui dit : « Seigneur, montre-nous le Père ; cela nous suffit. »
Jésus lui répond : « Il y a si longtemps que je suis avec vous, et tu ne me connais pas, Philippe ! Celui qui m’a vu a vu le Père. Comment peux-tu dire : “Montre-nous le Père” ?
Tu ne crois donc pas que je suis dans le Père et que le Père est en moi ! Les paroles que je vous dis, je ne les dis pas de moi-même ; le Père qui demeure en moi fait ses propres œuvres.
Croyez-moi : je suis dans le Père, et le Père est en moi ; si vous ne me croyez pas, croyez du moins à cause des œuvres elles-mêmes.
Amen, amen, je vous le dis : celui qui croit en moi fera les œuvres que je fais. Il en fera même de plus grandes, parce que je pars vers le Père,
et tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le Fils.
Quand vous me demanderez quelque chose en mon nom, moi, je le ferai.

Le message

Nous cherchons Dieu et nous voudrions connaitre sa volonté, la volonté de Dieu dans notre vie. Jésus nous a dit que personne n’a vu son Père et nous devons Le découvrir en son Fils. Aujourd’hui Il nous affirme que nous le connaissons et nous l’avons vu. Nous pouvons Le voir en Jésus Christ. Par son acte et par sa parole, Jésus rend visible ce visage de Dieu, qui était auparavant invisible et inaccessible au peuple.

Comme Lui qui est uni en son Père, nous sommes invités à l’être. Une union par excellence avec son Père est possible en Jésus Christ. C’est dans cette union que nous serons capables de faire les choses extraordinaires.

La foi est capable de nous faire vivre et aussi faire vivre les autres qui nous entourent. Comme une lumière qui s’illumine par sa propre nature, nous devons donner notre vie, comme Jésus qui a donné sa vie pour le salut du monde.

He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, `Show us the Father'? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. 12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; 14 if you ask anything in my name, I will do it."

The message

Can human being know God? Jesus seems to assure us that it is possible. It is because this truth that He has asked us to be perfect as the heavenly Father is perfect. This perfection is possible. Know Him and see Him are two things different, still they are very much intermingled. Only those who know God, can see God. Since this God is everywhere, the people who live in God, see God in everything. To see this invisible God, we need faith. Even though the reason can help us to some extent to understand God, only faith can lead us very close to God.

It is in this sense that Jesus is asking us to believe in Him. How can we believe in God, without realizing His presence in us? Christian faith invites us to believe that God resides in us and in all are our brothers and sisters. It is in this divine relationship that the Christian fraternity finds its meaning and source. Once we realize this truth, we will give attention to what we think and what we say, because all that we say and do, have a divine intervention. Are we ready to listen this Word of God and do just like Jesus?

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Que votre cœur ne soit pas bouleversé : vous croyez en Dieu, croyez aussi en moi.
Dans la maison de mon Père, il y a de nombreuses demeures ; sinon, vous aurais-je dit : “Je pars vous préparer une place” ?
Quand je serai parti vous préparer une place, je reviendrai et je vous emmènerai auprès de moi, afin que là où je suis, vous soyez, vous aussi.
Pour aller où je vais, vous savez le chemin. »
Thomas lui dit : « Seigneur, nous ne savons pas où tu vas. Comment pourrions-nous savoir le chemin ? »
Jésus lui répond : « Moi, je suis le Chemin, la Vérité et la Vie ; personne ne va vers le Père sans passer par moi.

Le message

Très souvent je propose ce texte pour la célébration des obsèques, car ce texte porte un mot d'espérance, pour la faille qui fait la deuil. Un discours du Seigneur qui aidera ses disciples à se préparer à vivre leur vie pleinement après la mort et la résurrection du Seigneur. Un discours qui encourage les disciples à fixer leur regard sur l’avenir, qui n’enlève nul part leur vie présente.

Saint Joseph, un homme sage et calme, nous aide à regarder les événements qui se passent autour de nous, autrement. Comme lui, nous devons veiller et surveiller.

Saint Ambroise nous a dit « Entrons dans ce chemin, attachons-nous à la vérité, suivons la vie. Le chemin est ce qui conduit, la vérité est ce qui affermit, la vie est ce qui se donne de soi-même. » C’est ainsi Jésus devient notre chemin, vérité et la vie.

Scripture: John 14:1-6

1 "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me."

The message

On the day of workers, the day of saint Joseph, we are called to make Jesus as our sole model to reach to the Father. How to understand this message of Jesus, as the way, the truth and the life? Saint Ambrose writes, “” Let us set out on this way, let us attach ourselves to the truth, let us follow the life. The way is what leads us, the truth is what strengthens us, the life is what gives itself of its own accord.”

While Jesus says that He is the truth, I understand in this, what is revealed, the revelation of the Father. The way, Jesus is the only person who can lead us towards the Father, the only one who knows Him. He is the life, the very source of our existence.

saint Jean 13,16-20.

Après avoir lavé les pieds de ses disciples, Jésus parla ainsi : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : un serviteur n’est pas plus grand que son maître, ni un envoyé plus grand que celui qui l’envoie.
Sachant cela, heureux êtes-vous, si vous le faites.
Ce n’est pas de vous tous que je parle. Moi, je sais quels sont ceux que j’ai choisis, mais il faut que s’accomplisse l’Écriture : Celui qui mange le pain avec moi m’a frappé du talon.
Je vous dis ces choses dès maintenant, avant qu’elles n’arrivent ; ainsi, lorsqu’elles arriveront, vous croirez que moi, JE SUIS.
Amen, amen, je vous le dis : si quelqu’un reçoit celui que j’envoie, il me reçoit moi-même ; et celui qui me reçoit, reçoit Celui qui m’a envoyé. »

Le message

Les disciples du Seigneur ont reconnu tout ce qu’ils ont entendu du Seigneur. : Il faut écouter leur maître et ils sont appelés à suivre leur maître jusqu’à la Croix.

Même si les disciples ont été formés par le Seigneur, il y a parmi eux une personne qui s’est refusé d’être avec son maître, dans sa liberté. Pourtant Jésus n’a pas voulu enlever sa liberté et en Jésus nous découvrons que son Père n’enlèvera jamais notre liberté.

Puisque Dieu demeure chez les hommes, chaque fois qu’on reçoit une personne, nous recevons le Dieu qui demeure en lui. Si nous oublions cette vérité, nous ne pouvons jamais reconnaitre le visage du Seigneur, chez les hommes.

Scripture: John 13:16-20

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. 18 I am not speaking of you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the scripture may be fulfilled, `He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.' 19 I tell you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me."

The message

It is important to note that Jesus has never rejected Judas. It was Judas who has left Jesus. Just like Jesus, who didn’t force Judas, God leaves the whole humanity in freedom. And, it is in this freedom that many of us fail.

There are still two messages in this gospel. The first is that we are not above the masters and we should learn from Him. The second is the word of God will never goes without giving fruit. We should learn to read the word of God and learn to understand the message of God.

Since God resides in us, we should learn to accept others as they are and receive them with the same respect we reserve for God. We are called to discover this loving and affectionate God in the heart of human being. Only if we respect this rule of life, we will have the inner peace and joy.

saint Matthieu 11,25-30.

En ce temps-là, Jésus prit la parole et dit : « Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, je proclame ta louange : ce que tu as caché aux sages et aux savants, tu l’as révélé aux tout-petits.
Oui, Père, tu l’as voulu ainsi dans ta bienveillance.
Tout m’a été remis par mon Père ; personne ne connaît le Fils, sinon le Père, et personne ne connaît le Père, sinon le Fils, et celui à qui le Fils veut le révéler.
« Venez à moi, vous tous qui peinez sous le poids du fardeau, et moi, je vous procurerai le repos.
Prenez sur vous mon joug, devenez mes disciples, car je suis doux et humble de cœur, et vous trouverez le repos pour votre âme.
Oui, mon joug est facile à porter, et mon fardeau, léger. »

Le message

Ce jour de la fête de sainte Catherine de Sienne, Jésus nous invite à prendre un peu de repos, car Il va prendre le poids de notre fardeau. S’il a pris notre poids, il est demandé que nous prenions son fardeau, car il est léger.

En ce jour, l’évangile nous demande d’apprendre du Seigneur à être doux et humble de cœur, car Il est doux et humble. Puisque nous sommes ses disciples et puisque nous portons en nous son nom (le Christ), il y a une exigence d’être comme Lui.

Scripture: John 12:44-50

44 And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. 45 And he who sees me sees him who sent me. 46 I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. 47 If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me."

The message

“He who believes in me may not remain in darkness.” Do we believe in Jesus? What is the depth of our faith?

Living in darkness, is living in ignorance. Ignorance of ourselves and others, our very being and the finality of our existence. It is in and through us that we can discover Jesus, because He is living in us.

Only if we discover Jesus, in His totality, we will be able to understand His Father. The more we get close to Jesus, the more we will be thirsty for Him. The more we get to know Jesus, the more we desire to know the Father.

In this search and discovery, we will understand that Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Jesus. It is in this union we are called to be united. Thus we implore the Holy Spirit to accompany us and help us to be united in the Trinity. It is only in this union that we will be able to accomplish the will of the Father.

saint Jean 10,1-10.

En ce temps-là, Jésus déclara : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : celui qui entre dans l’enclos des brebis sans passer par la porte, mais qui escalade par un autre endroit, celui-là est un voleur et un bandit.
Celui qui entre par la porte, c’est le pasteur, le berger des brebis.
Le portier lui ouvre, et les brebis écoutent sa voix. Ses brebis à lui, il les appelle chacune par son nom, et il les fait sortir.
Quand il a poussé dehors toutes les siennes, il marche à leur tête, et les brebis le suivent, car elles connaissent sa voix.
Jamais elles ne suivront un étranger, mais elles s’enfuiront loin de lui, car elles ne connaissent pas la voix des étrangers. »
Jésus employa cette image pour s’adresser à eux, mais eux ne comprirent pas de quoi il leur parlait.
C’est pourquoi Jésus reprit la parole : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : Moi, je suis la porte des brebis.
Tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs et des bandits ; mais les brebis ne les ont pas écoutés.
Moi, je suis la porte. Si quelqu’un entre en passant par moi, il sera sauvé ; il pourra entrer ; il pourra sortir et trouver un pâturage.
Le voleur ne vient que pour voler, égorger, faire périr. Moi, je suis venu pour que les brebis aient la vie, la vie en abondance.

Le message

Dans la première lecture, saint Pierre comme le vrai disciple du Seigneur affirme l’universalité de mission. Comme un bon pasteur à l’image de Jésus, il accueillie tous comme les brebis du Seigneur, c’est ainsi il devient le pasteur par excellence devant le regard de son Maître, le Christ.

Nous sommes invités à devenir comme Jésus, en accueillant tous dans notre vie, particulièrement les brebis perdues.

Gospel text (Jn 10,1-10): Jesus said: «Truly, I say to you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber. But the shepherd of the sheep enters by the gate. The keeper opens the gate to him and the sheep hear his voice; he calls each of his sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them and the sheep follow him for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, rather they will run away from him because they don't recognize a stranger's voice». Jesus used this comparison, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

So Jesus said, «Truly, I say to you, I am the gate of the sheep. All who came were thieves and robbers, and the sheep did not hear them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved; he will go in and out freely and find food. The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life, life in all its fullness».

The message

Yesterday we have celebrated Jesus as the Good Shepherd and we are called to imitate Him, as our Shepherd and become a good shepherd in the same image Jesus has registered in our hearts and minds.

In this image of Good Shepherd and sheep, we have the temptation to become like the sheep to be guided by the Lord. If we recall our baptismal vocation, the mission the Lord has confined to us, we can understand another truth from this image: we are not the sheep, but are shepherds.

It is easy to follow, but it is difficult to listen our master, Good Shepherd par excellence, and do exactly what He commands us.

saint Jean 10,11-18.

En ce temps-là, Jésus déclara : « Moi, je suis le bon pasteur, le vrai berger, qui donne sa vie pour ses brebis.

Le berger mercenaire n’est pas le pasteur, les brebis ne sont pas à lui : s’il voit venir le loup, il abandonne les brebis et s’enfuit ; le loup s’en empare et les disperse.
Ce berger n’est qu’un mercenaire, et les brebis ne comptent pas vraiment pour lui.
Moi, je suis le bon pasteur ; je connais mes brebis, et mes brebis me connaissent,
comme le Père me connaît, et que je connais le Père ; et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
J’ai encore d’autres brebis, qui ne sont pas de cet enclos : celles-là aussi, il faut que je les conduise. Elles écouteront ma voix : il y aura un seul troupeau et un seul pasteur.
Voici pourquoi le Père m’aime : parce que je donne ma vie, pour la recevoir de nouveau.
Nul ne peut me l’enlever : je la donne de moi-même. J’ai le pouvoir de la donner, j’ai aussi le pouvoir de la recevoir de nouveau : voilà le commandement que j’ai reçu de mon Père. »

Homélie

Aujourd’hui l’Église célèbre le dimanche de vocations. L’évangile du jour nous montre Jésus comme un bon pasteur, qui connait ses brebis et les brebis le connaissent. La connaissance d’un pasteur qui donne sa vie, inspire les brebis à l’écouter. Cette écoute est un signe de cette connaissance.

C’est dans cette écoute que nous seront capables de pouvoir comprendre les mystères que le Seigneur nous révèle quotidiennement. C’est dans cette connaissance que Pierre déclare la source de sa conviction, le fruit de sa foi et la fondation de la vie chrétienne : La Trinité. Rempli de l’Esprit Saint il déclare « C’est pour vous que Dieu a fait cette promesse ». La promesse de son Fils et à travers Jésus, sa présence. Par sa présence il nous montre son amour et par lui il nous a fait ses enfants.

Chaque chrétien qui arrive à connaître cette vérité, il se donnera totalement pour le Seigneur. Donner totalement pour le Seigneur, c’est donner totalement pour son peuple. Donner totalement pour son peuple, commence par notre présence dans la famille, dans le quartier, dans la société.

Jésus le bon pasteur nous a confié ses brebis, pour moi mes confrères clarétains qui sont membres de ma communauté, et mes paroissiens, et pour vous, votre famille, vos parents, votre femme, votre mari, vos enfants, vos frères et sœurs, et le monde. Cette image du bon berger, nous la connaissons bien. Il est celui qui veille sur son troupeau. Quand on est sur les pentes des alpages et des estives, il faut surveiller, il faut rechercher les brebis égarées, soigner celles qui sont blessées.

Ce dimanche de vocations nous prions pour les vocations. Mais je me demande, combien entre nous présent ici, souhaite que nos enfants ou nos petits enfants deviennent prêtres ou religieux ou religieuse ? C’est dans notre famille que les vocations peuvent naître. Préparons nos enfants pour la société, pour le Seigneur. Ils seront toujours avec nous. Ecoutons la voix du Seigneur notre vrai berger, et nous connaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu, un Dieu qui se donne. Ses enfants, ils doivent se donner. Amen.

11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, 15 as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from my Father."

Homily

Today the Church celebrates the vocations Sunday, the Sunday of the Good Pastor. The Gospel of the day shows Jesus as a good shepherd who knows his sheep and the sheep know him. This proximity of the shepherd who gives his life, inspires the sheep to listen. This listening is a sign of that knowledge. Unless and until we have confidence in the pastor, we can’t listen to Him and we don’t understand the message, even if the message is communicated to us personally.

It is in this listening that we will be able to understand the mysteries that the Lord reveals to us daily. Every moments of life will be a new beginning for us and can’t stop wondering how much this Shepard is accompanying us, not for his pleasure, but for our own well-being. It is with this knowledge that Peter proclaims the source of his conviction, the fruit of his faith and the foundation of the Christian life: The Trinity. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he said "It is for you that God made this promise." The promised accomplished in His Son and through Jesus, by His mere presence amidst us. By this presence he shows us his love and through it He made us worthy to be called Christians.

Every Christian who comes to know the truth, will give completely him or herself for the Lord. Living totally for the Lord, is giving completely and dedicating the life fully for His people. To live totally for His people, we begin with our presence in the family and in the society.
Jesus the good shepherd has entrusted His sheep, His beloved ones, for whom has has given His life to each and every one of us. We can’t simply imagine His confidence in us. For me personally, He has entrusted to me my Claretian community, my colleagues who are members of this religious congregation, and my parishioners where I work, and for you, your family, your parents, your wife, your husband, your children, your siblings, and the world itself.

This image of the good shepherd, we know well and we learn it from Jesus, the Good pastor, par excellence. He is the one who watches over his flock. When you are on the slopes of the mountain pastures and summer pastures should be monitored, look for the lost sheep, treat those injured. Even if they go astray, he doesn’t get angry, rather runs behind them and bring them together.

This Vocations Sunday we pray for vocations. But I wonder, how many of us present here, in this church for the Sunday celebration, wish our children or our grandchildren become priests or religious? It is in our family that vocations are born. Prepare our children for society, for the Lord. They will always be with us. Let us hear the voice of the Lord our true shepherd, and we will know that we are the children of God, a God who gives himself. His children, they must learn to give themselves, like our Heavenly Father, who gives us Himself fully in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Marc

(Mc 16, 15-20)

Jésus ressuscité dit aux onze Apôtres : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez la Bonne Nouvelle à toute la création. Celui qui croira et sera baptisé sera sauvé ; celui qui refusera de croire sera condamné. Voici les signes qui accompagneront ceux qui deviendront croyants : en mon nom, ils chasseront les esprits mauvais ; ils parleront un langage nouveau ; ils prendront des serpents dans leurs mains, et, s'ils boivent un poison mortel, il ne leur fera pas de mal ; ils imposeront les mains aux malades, et les malades s'en trouveront bien. »

Le Seigneur Jésus, après leur avoir parlé, fut enlevé au ciel et s'assit à la droite de Dieu. Quant à eux, ils s'en allèrent proclamer partout la Bonne Nouvelle. Le Seigneur travaillait avec eux et confirmait la Parole par les signes qui l'accompagnaient.

Le message

Nous tous, sont invités à annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle. Même si le Seigneur est partis, les Apôtres ont ressentis sa présence avec eu, comme un esprit qui les a envahi. Sa Parole et ses actes étaient si vivant en eux qu’ils l’ont entendu et vu par tout.

Aujourd’hui, nous fêtons la fête de saint Marc. Ressentons-nous la présence du Seigneur en nous, comme lui ? Voyons-nous le Seigneur par tout et en tout ?

Gospel text (Mc 16,15-20):

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them, «Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; the one who refuses to believe will be condemned. Signs like these will accompany those who have believed: in my Name they will cast out demons and speak new languages; they will pick up snakes and, if they drink anything poisonous, they will be unharmed. They will lay their hands on the sick and they will be healed».

So then, after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and took his place at the right hand of God. The Eleven went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied them.

The message

Today the holy Church is celebrating the feast of Saint Mark, the evangelist. These Apostles of the Lord were living in Christ and by Christ. Even though the Lord was not there with them physically, they heard Him always and all that He did were in front of their eyes.

All that they did was, shared their experience with the Lord and witnessed before people with joy. Even though their message was sometime rejected by the people, they didn’t feel rejected themselves, rather, they felt that Jesus was rejected. Thus the joy and suffering, they attributed everything to the Lord.

We too can do the same thing, only, if we have the same experience and conviction. Unless and until we feel in us the presence of God and hear in spirit His word, we can’t do the same.

saint Jean 6,44-51.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux foules : « Personne ne peut venir à moi, si le Père qui m’a envoyé ne l’attire, et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
Il est écrit dans les prophètes : Ils seront tous instruits par Dieu lui-même. Quiconque a entendu le Père et reçu son enseignement vient à moi.
Certes, personne n’a jamais vu le Père, sinon celui qui vient de Dieu : celui-là seul a vu le Père.
Amen, amen, je vous le dis : il a la vie éternelle, celui qui croit.
Moi, je suis le pain de la vie.
Au désert, vos pères ont mangé la manne, et ils sont morts ;
mais le pain qui descend du ciel est tel que celui qui en mange ne mourra pas.
Moi, je suis le pain vivant, qui est descendu du ciel : si quelqu’un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement. Le pain que je donnerai, c’est ma chair, donnée pour la vie du monde. »

Le message

Aujourd’hui nous sommes capables de comprendre cette Parole du Seigneur et nous l’associons à l’Eucharistie. Le Seigneur a établie l’Eucharistie pour que nous ressentions sa présence plus près de nous, une proximité profonde. Il nous accompagne par cette présence.

Le plus nous sommes soif de cette présence, le plus nous seront avec Lui. Saint Colomban (563-615) a dit, "Frères bien-aimés, "si votre âme a soif de la source divine dont je vais vous parler, attisez cette soif et ne l'éteignez pas. Buvez, mais ne soyez pas rassasiés. Car la source vivante nous appelle et la fontaine de vie nous dit : « Que celui qui a soif vienne à moi et qu'il boive » (Jn 7,37)..."

Scripture: John 6:52-59

52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; 54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.

The message

If we wish to be united with Christ, we should participate in the Eucharistic celebration. This union will create in us a thirst to be with God and this thirst to be with Lord; will unite us with others, the people of God.

To be united with Jesus, we should listen to His word and this listening will help us to do His will and by doing the will of Jesus, we will do the will of the Father. Thus just like Jesus who is in the Father and abides with the Father, we will abide in God.

saint Jean 6,44-51.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux foules : « Personne ne peut venir à moi, si le Père qui m’a envoyé ne l’attire, et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
Il est écrit dans les prophètes : Ils seront tous instruits par Dieu lui-même. Quiconque a entendu le Père et reçu son enseignement vient à moi.
Certes, personne n’a jamais vu le Père, sinon celui qui vient de Dieu : celui-là seul a vu le Père.
Amen, amen, je vous le dis : il a la vie éternelle, celui qui croit.
Moi, je suis le pain de la vie.
Au désert, vos pères ont mangé la manne, et ils sont morts ;
mais le pain qui descend du ciel est tel que celui qui en mange ne mourra pas.
Moi, je suis le pain vivant, qui est descendu du ciel : si quelqu’un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement. Le pain que je donnerai, c’est ma chair, donnée pour la vie du monde. »

Le message

La foi est un don de Dieu. Si Dieu ne se révèle pas, nous ne pouvons jamais Le reconnaitre. C’est pourquoi Jésus est envoyé pour que nous découvrions Dieu en Lui et pour Le découvrir, il est impératif que nous nous approchions au Seigneur, la seule porte qui nous fera entrer en Dieu, Le seul qui a vu le Père.

La vie éternelle n’est pas une vie immortelle, une vie qui se présente devant la présence de Dieu, par une invitation divine, une vie qui connait Dieu dans sa totalité, qui participe à l’être de Dieu, qui ne connait ni le commencement, ni la fin, comme Dieu, une vie totalement unie ou imprégné en Dieu.

Jésus est la seule personne qui est capable de nous faire élever de notre humanité et la transformer comme Lui, dans sa divinité. Par son incarnation Il nous a fait digne de participer à sa divinité. C’est pourquoi Il est devenu notre Pain, le Pain de la vie éternelle. Manger ce Pain, c’est devenir le christ en mettant son commandement d’amour en pratique. C’est ainsi, sa Parole devient notre nourriture de la vie éternelle.

Every one who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. 46 Not that any one has seen the Father except him who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."

The message

Jesus is explaining to us, how it is difficult for us to reach God without Him. Jesus is our door to God, who has seen God, the only one who can help us to reach to God. If we feel the thirty to know and speak to God, it is not simply our human desire inspired by mere human need, but this desire has being enkindled within us by God. Only those who are inspired by God can know God and understand the message of God. Though this grace is available to all, only few cooperate with God, be welcoming this grace, as something precious and valuable and others ignore it. Thus, it is in our freedom that we have chosen to say YES or No to this revelation.

The second message from this gospel is that Jesus is the bread of life, the eternal life. Very often we get confused with immortality with eternal life. The eternal life is a life in the presence of God, where we know God fully, in His totality, without any mediation or revelation. Like the color with is mingled with water, we are so united in God that we become inseparable from God. We see everything as God sees and act exactly as God wills.

Eating Jesus is, becoming Jesus, by making His commandment of love as the rule of life, not by obligation or compulsion, but by the very nature of our being. His Word becomes our daily bread and the Eucharist makes us capable of participating in His divinity, even physically, in this world, making us from this world and transforms us totally. Thus a life fully in God, can never die, because we are in God eternally.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux foules : « Moi, je suis le pain de la vie. Celui qui vient à moi n’aura jamais faim ; celui qui croit en moi n’aura jamais soif.
Mais je vous l’ai déjà dit : vous avez vu, et pourtant vous ne croyez pas.
Tous ceux que me donne le Père viendront jusqu’à moi ; et celui qui vient à moi, je ne vais pas le jeter dehors.
Car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire non pas ma volonté, mais la volonté de Celui qui m’a envoyé.
Or, telle est la volonté de Celui qui m’a envoyé : que je ne perde aucun de ceux qu’il m’a donnés, mais que je les ressuscite au dernier jour.
Telle est la volonté de mon Père : que celui qui voit le Fils et croit en lui ait la vie éternelle ; et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. »

Le message

Notre vocation baptismal nous demander de sortir de notre lieu de sécurité et de faire y entrer tous ceux et celles qui sont en dehors. Jésus est venu nous montrer comment pouvons-nous le faire.

Jésus nous affirme la volonté du Père. La volonté du Père est ce qu’on ne perd aucun et qu’il ait la vie éternelle.

Jésus nous demande de nous ressourcer auprès de Lui, notre Pain de la vie. C’est par Lui et en Lui que nous pouvons accomplir la volonté de son Père. Un engagement dans l’isolement sans impliquer la communauté, ne peut pas être un travail de Dieu, car Dieu travaille ensembles.

35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; 39 and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

The message

We all desire to be saved. Sadly, this salvation doesn’t come in isolation. Jesus is building a community of believers. How can I live as a believer and remain alone? There is a contradiction.

Any food is to live a life in its fullness, which helps us to sustain this life. When Jesus says that He is the bread of life, it is in this sense of essence for our substance, the sustenance of our very being. Without Jesus, this life given by God, can’t sustain in us.

The will of the Father is that all of us be saved. It is in this spirit that the missionaries have engaged in announcing the Good News, by risking their life. It is in this announce that they found the real Joy, and it is in this same announce they shared in the mission of Jesus, and by this very act they were united with Jesus. Without this announce, our very Christian faith will lose the sense of its very existence.
