Évangile de Jésus Christ selon

saint Jean 10,11-18.

En ce temps-là, Jésus déclara : « Moi, je suis le bon pasteur, le vrai berger, qui donne sa vie pour ses brebis.

Le berger mercenaire n’est pas le pasteur, les brebis ne sont pas à lui : s’il voit venir le loup, il abandonne les brebis et s’enfuit ; le loup s’en empare et les disperse.
Ce berger n’est qu’un mercenaire, et les brebis ne comptent pas vraiment pour lui.
Moi, je suis le bon pasteur ; je connais mes brebis, et mes brebis me connaissent,
comme le Père me connaît, et que je connais le Père ; et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
J’ai encore d’autres brebis, qui ne sont pas de cet enclos : celles-là aussi, il faut que je les conduise. Elles écouteront ma voix : il y aura un seul troupeau et un seul pasteur.
Voici pourquoi le Père m’aime : parce que je donne ma vie, pour la recevoir de nouveau.
Nul ne peut me l’enlever : je la donne de moi-même. J’ai le pouvoir de la donner, j’ai aussi le pouvoir de la recevoir de nouveau : voilà le commandement que j’ai reçu de mon Père. »

Homélie

Aujourd’hui l’Église célèbre le dimanche de vocations. L’évangile du jour nous montre Jésus comme un bon pasteur, qui connait ses brebis et les brebis le connaissent. La connaissance d’un pasteur qui donne sa vie, inspire les brebis à l’écouter. Cette écoute est un signe de cette connaissance.

C’est dans cette écoute que nous seront capables de pouvoir comprendre les mystères que le Seigneur nous révèle quotidiennement. C’est dans cette connaissance que Pierre déclare la source de sa conviction, le fruit de sa foi et la fondation de la vie chrétienne : La Trinité. Rempli de l’Esprit Saint il déclare « C’est pour vous que Dieu a fait cette promesse ». La promesse de son Fils et à travers Jésus, sa présence. Par sa présence il nous montre son amour et par lui il nous a fait ses enfants.

Chaque chrétien qui arrive à connaître cette vérité, il se donnera totalement pour le Seigneur. Donner totalement pour le Seigneur, c’est donner totalement pour son peuple. Donner totalement pour son peuple, commence par notre présence dans la famille, dans le quartier, dans la société.

Jésus le bon pasteur nous a confié ses brebis, pour moi mes confrères clarétains qui sont membres de ma communauté, et mes paroissiens, et pour vous, votre famille, vos parents, votre femme, votre mari, vos enfants, vos frères et sœurs, et le monde. Cette image du bon berger, nous la connaissons bien. Il est celui qui veille sur son troupeau. Quand on est sur les pentes des alpages et des estives, il faut surveiller, il faut rechercher les brebis égarées, soigner celles qui sont blessées.

Ce dimanche de vocations nous prions pour les vocations. Mais je me demande, combien entre nous présent ici, souhaite que nos enfants ou nos petits enfants deviennent prêtres ou religieux ou religieuse ? C’est dans notre famille que les vocations peuvent naître. Préparons nos enfants pour la société, pour le Seigneur. Ils seront toujours avec nous. Ecoutons la voix du Seigneur notre vrai berger, et nous connaitrons que nous sommes les enfants de Dieu, un Dieu qui se donne. Ses enfants, ils doivent se donner. Amen.

11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, 15 as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from my Father."

Homily

Today the Church celebrates the vocations Sunday, the Sunday of the Good Pastor. The Gospel of the day shows Jesus as a good shepherd who knows his sheep and the sheep know him. This proximity of the shepherd who gives his life, inspires the sheep to listen. This listening is a sign of that knowledge. Unless and until we have confidence in the pastor, we can’t listen to Him and we don’t understand the message, even if the message is communicated to us personally.

It is in this listening that we will be able to understand the mysteries that the Lord reveals to us daily. Every moments of life will be a new beginning for us and can’t stop wondering how much this Shepard is accompanying us, not for his pleasure, but for our own well-being. It is with this knowledge that Peter proclaims the source of his conviction, the fruit of his faith and the foundation of the Christian life: The Trinity. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he said "It is for you that God made this promise." The promised accomplished in His Son and through Jesus, by His mere presence amidst us. By this presence he shows us his love and through it He made us worthy to be called Christians.

Every Christian who comes to know the truth, will give completely him or herself for the Lord. Living totally for the Lord, is giving completely and dedicating the life fully for His people. To live totally for His people, we begin with our presence in the family and in the society.
Jesus the good shepherd has entrusted His sheep, His beloved ones, for whom has has given His life to each and every one of us. We can’t simply imagine His confidence in us. For me personally, He has entrusted to me my Claretian community, my colleagues who are members of this religious congregation, and my parishioners where I work, and for you, your family, your parents, your wife, your husband, your children, your siblings, and the world itself.

This image of the good shepherd, we know well and we learn it from Jesus, the Good pastor, par excellence. He is the one who watches over his flock. When you are on the slopes of the mountain pastures and summer pastures should be monitored, look for the lost sheep, treat those injured. Even if they go astray, he doesn’t get angry, rather runs behind them and bring them together.

This Vocations Sunday we pray for vocations. But I wonder, how many of us present here, in this church for the Sunday celebration, wish our children or our grandchildren become priests or religious? It is in our family that vocations are born. Prepare our children for society, for the Lord. They will always be with us. Let us hear the voice of the Lord our true shepherd, and we will know that we are the children of God, a God who gives himself. His children, they must learn to give themselves, like our Heavenly Father, who gives us Himself fully in Jesus Christ. Amen.

(Mc 16, 15-20)

Jésus ressuscité dit aux onze Apôtres : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez la Bonne Nouvelle à toute la création. Celui qui croira et sera baptisé sera sauvé ; celui qui refusera de croire sera condamné. Voici les signes qui accompagneront ceux qui deviendront croyants : en mon nom, ils chasseront les esprits mauvais ; ils parleront un langage nouveau ; ils prendront des serpents dans leurs mains, et, s'ils boivent un poison mortel, il ne leur fera pas de mal ; ils imposeront les mains aux malades, et les malades s'en trouveront bien. »

Le Seigneur Jésus, après leur avoir parlé, fut enlevé au ciel et s'assit à la droite de Dieu. Quant à eux, ils s'en allèrent proclamer partout la Bonne Nouvelle. Le Seigneur travaillait avec eux et confirmait la Parole par les signes qui l'accompagnaient.

Le message

Nous tous, sont invités à annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle. Même si le Seigneur est partis, les Apôtres ont ressentis sa présence avec eu, comme un esprit qui les a envahi. Sa Parole et ses actes étaient si vivant en eux qu’ils l’ont entendu et vu par tout.

Aujourd’hui, nous fêtons la fête de saint Marc. Ressentons-nous la présence du Seigneur en nous, comme lui ? Voyons-nous le Seigneur par tout et en tout ?

Gospel text (Mc 16,15-20):

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them, «Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; the one who refuses to believe will be condemned. Signs like these will accompany those who have believed: in my Name they will cast out demons and speak new languages; they will pick up snakes and, if they drink anything poisonous, they will be unharmed. They will lay their hands on the sick and they will be healed».

So then, after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and took his place at the right hand of God. The Eleven went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied them.

The message

Today the holy Church is celebrating the feast of Saint Mark, the evangelist. These Apostles of the Lord were living in Christ and by Christ. Even though the Lord was not there with them physically, they heard Him always and all that He did were in front of their eyes.

All that they did was, shared their experience with the Lord and witnessed before people with joy. Even though their message was sometime rejected by the people, they didn’t feel rejected themselves, rather, they felt that Jesus was rejected. Thus the joy and suffering, they attributed everything to the Lord.

We too can do the same thing, only, if we have the same experience and conviction. Unless and until we feel in us the presence of God and hear in spirit His word, we can’t do the same.

Il est écrit dans les prophètes : Ils seront tous instruits par Dieu lui-même. Quiconque a entendu le Père et reçu son enseignement vient à moi.
Certes, personne n’a jamais vu le Père, sinon celui qui vient de Dieu : celui-là seul a vu le Père.
Amen, amen, je vous le dis : il a la vie éternelle, celui qui croit.
Moi, je suis le pain de la vie.
Au désert, vos pères ont mangé la manne, et ils sont morts ;
mais le pain qui descend du ciel est tel que celui qui en mange ne mourra pas.
Moi, je suis le pain vivant, qui est descendu du ciel : si quelqu’un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement. Le pain que je donnerai, c’est ma chair, donnée pour la vie du monde. »

Le message

Aujourd’hui nous sommes capables de comprendre cette Parole du Seigneur et nous l’associons à l’Eucharistie. Le Seigneur a établie l’Eucharistie pour que nous ressentions sa présence plus près de nous, une proximité profonde. Il nous accompagne par cette présence.

Le plus nous sommes soif de cette présence, le plus nous seront avec Lui. Saint Colomban (563-615) a dit, "Frères bien-aimés, "si votre âme a soif de la source divine dont je vais vous parler, attisez cette soif et ne l'éteignez pas. Buvez, mais ne soyez pas rassasiés. Car la source vivante nous appelle et la fontaine de vie nous dit : « Que celui qui a soif vienne à moi et qu'il boive » (Jn 7,37)..."

Scripture: John 6:52-59

52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; 54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.

The message

If we wish to be united with Christ, we should participate in the Eucharistic celebration. This union will create in us a thirst to be with God and this thirst to be with Lord; will unite us with others, the people of God.

To be united with Jesus, we should listen to His word and this listening will help us to do His will and by doing the will of Jesus, we will do the will of the Father. Thus just like Jesus who is in the Father and abides with the Father, we will abide in God.

Le message

La foi est un don de Dieu. Si Dieu ne se révèle pas, nous ne pouvons jamais Le reconnaitre. C’est pourquoi Jésus est envoyé pour que nous découvrions Dieu en Lui et pour Le découvrir, il est impératif que nous nous approchions au Seigneur, la seule porte qui nous fera entrer en Dieu, Le seul qui a vu le Père.

La vie éternelle n’est pas une vie immortelle, une vie qui se présente devant la présence de Dieu, par une invitation divine, une vie qui connait Dieu dans sa totalité, qui participe à l’être de Dieu, qui ne connait ni le commencement, ni la fin, comme Dieu, une vie totalement unie ou imprégné en Dieu.

Jésus est la seule personne qui est capable de nous faire élever de notre humanité et la transformer comme Lui, dans sa divinité. Par son incarnation Il nous a fait digne de participer à sa divinité. C’est pourquoi Il est devenu notre Pain, le Pain de la vie éternelle. Manger ce Pain, c’est devenir le christ en mettant son commandement d’amour en pratique. C’est ainsi, sa Parole devient notre nourriture de la vie éternelle.

Every one who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. 46 Not that any one has seen the Father except him who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."

The message

Jesus is explaining to us, how it is difficult for us to reach God without Him. Jesus is our door to God, who has seen God, the only one who can help us to reach to God. If we feel the thirty to know and speak to God, it is not simply our human desire inspired by mere human need, but this desire has being enkindled within us by God. Only those who are inspired by God can know God and understand the message of God. Though this grace is available to all, only few cooperate with God, be welcoming this grace, as something precious and valuable and others ignore it. Thus, it is in our freedom that we have chosen to say YES or No to this revelation.

The second message from this gospel is that Jesus is the bread of life, the eternal life. Very often we get confused with immortality with eternal life. The eternal life is a life in the presence of God, where we know God fully, in His totality, without any mediation or revelation. Like the color with is mingled with water, we are so united in God that we become inseparable from God. We see everything as God sees and act exactly as God wills.

Eating Jesus is, becoming Jesus, by making His commandment of love as the rule of life, not by obligation or compulsion, but by the very nature of our being. His Word becomes our daily bread and the Eucharist makes us capable of participating in His divinity, even physically, in this world, making us from this world and transforms us totally. Thus a life fully in God, can never die, because we are in God eternally.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux foules : « Moi, je suis le pain de la vie. Celui qui vient à moi n’aura jamais faim ; celui qui croit en moi n’aura jamais soif.
Mais je vous l’ai déjà dit : vous avez vu, et pourtant vous ne croyez pas.
Tous ceux que me donne le Père viendront jusqu’à moi ; et celui qui vient à moi, je ne vais pas le jeter dehors.
Car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire non pas ma volonté, mais la volonté de Celui qui m’a envoyé.
Or, telle est la volonté de Celui qui m’a envoyé : que je ne perde aucun de ceux qu’il m’a donnés, mais que je les ressuscite au dernier jour.
Telle est la volonté de mon Père : que celui qui voit le Fils et croit en lui ait la vie éternelle ; et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. »

Le message

Notre vocation baptismal nous demander de sortir de notre lieu de sécurité et de faire y entrer tous ceux et celles qui sont en dehors. Jésus est venu nous montrer comment pouvons-nous le faire.

Jésus nous affirme la volonté du Père. La volonté du Père est ce qu’on ne perd aucun et qu’il ait la vie éternelle.

Jésus nous demande de nous ressourcer auprès de Lui, notre Pain de la vie. C’est par Lui et en Lui que nous pouvons accomplir la volonté de son Père. Un engagement dans l’isolement sans impliquer la communauté, ne peut pas être un travail de Dieu, car Dieu travaille ensembles.

35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; 39 and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

The message

We all desire to be saved. Sadly, this salvation doesn’t come in isolation. Jesus is building a community of believers. How can I live as a believer and remain alone? There is a contradiction.

Any food is to live a life in its fullness, which helps us to sustain this life. When Jesus says that He is the bread of life, it is in this sense of essence for our substance, the sustenance of our very being. Without Jesus, this life given by God, can’t sustain in us.

The will of the Father is that all of us be saved. It is in this spirit that the missionaries have engaged in announcing the Good News, by risking their life. It is in this announce that they found the real Joy, and it is in this same announce they shared in the mission of Jesus, and by this very act they were united with Jesus. Without this announce, our very Christian faith will lose the sense of its very existence.

Are looking for the lost sheep, or busy in taking care of ourselves?

En ce temps-là, la foule dit à Jésus : « Quel signe vas-tu accomplir pour que nous puissions le voir, et te croire ? Quelle œuvre vas-tu faire ?
Au désert, nos pères ont mangé la manne ; comme dit l’Écriture : Il leur a donné à manger le pain venu du ciel. »
Jésus leur répondit : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : ce n’est pas Moïse qui vous a donné le pain venu du ciel ; c’est mon Père qui vous donne le vrai pain venu du ciel.
Car le pain de Dieu, c’est celui qui descend du ciel et qui donne la vie au monde. »
Ils lui dirent alors : « Seigneur, donne-nous toujours de ce pain-là. »
Jésus leur répondit : « Moi, je suis le pain de la vie. Celui qui vient à moi n’aura jamais faim ; celui qui croit en moi n’aura jamais soif.

Le message

La foi ne peut pas naitre par l’accomplissement d’un signe. La foi est un don que Dieu nous donne. Elle est comme une graine qui est semée en nous dès le commencement. Si nous ne l’arrosons pas par la confiance en Dieu, même si nous l’avons, nous ne pouvons pas en profiter.

Nous tous cherchons les singes. Les singes sont comme une langue. Nous devons apprendre la langue pour la comprendre. Nous demandons au Seigneur, « Parle le Seigneur », mais nous n’avons pas encore appris son langage : AMOUR. Sans apprendre ce langage, comment pourrions pas comprendre le message de Dieu et comment serions capables de reconnaitre les singes qu’Il nous donne ?

30 So they said to him, "Then what sign do you do, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, `He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" 32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world." 34 They said to him, "Lord, give us this bread always." 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst."

The message

The faith is a gift from God. It is like a seed and like a language. Like a seed, it is already planted in us, right from the beginning of the creation. If we don’t water it regularly, then we will never be able to see the plant, evidently the fruit will be missing. We can still keep crying, but the seed will eternally remain the same.

It is also like a language. To understand the message communicated to us, we should learn the language. Unless and until we learn this language, we will never understand the message communicated to us. When we pray, “Lord Speak”, if we don’t understand the message communicated to us, what is the use of this prayer? Lord’s language is love and forgiveness. Unless and until we learn to love and forgive like God, we will never understand the message communicated to us be Jesus in today’s gospel: "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst."

saint Jean 6,22-29.

Jésus avait rassasié cinq mille hommes, et ses disciples l’avaient vu marcher sur la mer. Le lendemain, la foule restée sur l’autre rive se rendit compte qu’il n’y avait eu là qu’une seule barque, et que Jésus n’y était pas monté avec ses disciples, qui étaient partis sans lui.
Cependant, d’autres barques, venant de Tibériade, étaient arrivées près de l’endroit où l’on avait mangé le pain après que le Seigneur eut rendu grâce.
Quand la foule vit que Jésus n’était pas là, ni ses disciples, les gens montèrent dans les barques et se dirigèrent vers Capharnaüm à la recherche de Jésus.
L’ayant trouvé sur l’autre rive, ils lui dirent : « Rabbi, quand es-tu arrivé ici ? »
Jésus leur répondit : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : vous me cherchez, non parce que vous avez vu des signes, mais parce que vous avez mangé de ces pains et que vous avez été rassasiés.
Travaillez non pas pour la nourriture qui se perd, mais pour la nourriture qui demeure jusque dans la vie éternelle, celle que vous donnera le Fils de l’homme, lui que Dieu, le Père, a marqué de son sceau. »
Ils lui dirent alors : « Que devons-nous faire pour travailler aux œuvres de Dieu ? »
Jésus leur répondit : « L’œuvre de Dieu, c’est que vous croyiez en celui qu’il a envoyé. »

Le message

Dans cet évangile, il y a deux mots qui attirent mon attention : nourriture et croire. Quelle est la nourriture qui nous fait vivre ? Chaque Parole de Dieu est une nourriture qui est capable de nous faire vivre, non pas le corps, mais la personne. Pour profiter cette nourriture, nous devons devenir croyants.

Croire, c’est reconnaitre que le Ressuscité est encore vivant, vivant dans le cœur des hommes. Il est mort et ressuscité pour chacun et chacune de nous. Le centre de la fraternité chrétienne est notre foi, la foi en Jésus Christ, l’envoyé du Père. Pour le reconnaitre, nous devons reconnaitre nos frères et sœurs. La communauté chrétienne peut nous aider à redécouvrir cette présence de Dieu parmi nous.

22 On the next day the people who remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone. 23 However, boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 So when the people saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. 25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?" 26 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal." 28 Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."

The message

Very often, in our difficult time, everything seems to be against us. We find difficult to find a solution and we don’t know why these things happening around us and only for us. Like these people who search for their nurture, we too run up and down in search of our food. Jesus is telling us to seek for the true food. It is not the nurture which will feed the body which Jesus is worried about, rather the nurture of the person, who is residing in our body, myself, the being, the image of the invisible God in me. It needs the Word of God for its survival and many of us don’t understand this basic and fundament need of the person. Jesus has come to give us the essence of life.

To believe in Him, is to believe that He is alive in us. He is alive in each and every one of our brothers and sisters. He died for you and me and preciously because of His death and resurrection that we have become brothers and sisters. The Christian fraternity is built on this faith. If He is sent for us, it is because that we understand His Father and discover His love through Jesus Christ.

Aujourd’hui nous entrons au troisième dimanche de Pâques. Nous sommes avec le ressuscité et nous sommes en fête. Lorsque nous fêtons la résurrection du Seigneur, nous devons nous demander qu’elle est le sens de cette fête aujourd’hui, pour chacun et chacune de nous. Quand nous fêtons la résurrection du Seigneur, nous savons que Jésus est le centre de cette fête. Il nous demande, pour toi qui suis-je ? Comment tissons-nous, notre relation avec Lui.

Saint Pierre après avoir guéris un paralysé devant la porte, s’adresse au people en disant qu’ils ont tué Jésus, mais dans l’ignorance. Il nous assure que Jésus est mort, une fois pour tous. Notre conscience nous dira que chaque fois nous jugeons nos frères et sœurs, nous condamnons Jésus à mort tous les jours. Le message de Pierre s’adresse à nous. « Convertissez-vous donc et tournez-vous vers Dieu. »

Cette conversion nous poussera vers l’annonce de l’évangile : Baptisez-les au nom du Père et du Fils et du saint Esprit. Saint Jean dans la deuxième lecture nous dit, en gardant fidèlement son commandement : aimez-vous les uns les autres, comme je vous ai aimé, nous deviendrons ses disciples. C’est ainsi Dieu s’illuminera en nous et par nous.

La vie quotidienne nous dit une autre histoire. En vérité, ce n’est pas tout ce que nous voulons que nous fassions, c’est tout contraire. Lorsque les choses ne se passent pas comme nous voudrions, nous devons ouvrir nos portes. Ne soyons pas nous enfermer en nous-mêmes. Lissons la porte d’entrée ouverte pour que l’espérance puisse pénétrer en nous. Jésus est avec nous. Il nous dit, « la paix soit avec vous. » Chaque fois nous fixons notre regard sur nous-mêmes sans Jésus, nous ne gagnerons rien. Il faut apprendre à fixer notre regard sur Jésus. Souvenez-vous l’histoire de Pierre sur l’eau ? N’oublions pas cette histoire.

Pour devenir les vrais disciples du Seigneur, nous avons besoin d’être complètement imprégnés et habités par le Seigneur. Si nous laissons notre porte fermée, comment pourrait-il entrer en nous. Comme les disciples d’Emmaüs, nous devons écouter la Parole de Dieu, lire la Bible et participer à l’Eucharistie, la fraction du pain, régulièrement. C’est là que nous sommes invités à puiser en vue de la mission que le Seigneur nous confie.

Il nous invite à Le découvrir dans son humanité, même transfiguré, glorifié, transformé, il est pourtant ce même Jésus avec tout sa personne. La passion n’est pas effacée par la résurrection. Rappelons-nous tout ce qu’Il nous dit dans les écritures sacrées. Annonçons courageusement cette Bonne Nouvelle.

We are entering in to the third Sunday of Easter. With the Apostles of Jesus, we are slowly discover the risen Lord. It is in this feeling of being with the Resurrected Lord that celebrate Ester. When we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, we must ask ourselves, what is the meaning of this celebration today for each and every one of us? We are very much aware that when we celebrate the Lord's resurrection, Jesus is the center of all these celebrations. Very reasonably He asks us, “Whom am I for you?” and we have to respond to Him the way we relate to Him or qualify our relationship.

In the first reading, Peter is qualifying his relationship with Jesus and witnesses in frond the community who consider him as God, of all that he saw and learned from Jesus. Without judging the people, he does point out that they have killed Jesus, the Prince of peace, out of their ignorance. Today, many of our conscience will tell us that whenever we judge our brothers and sisters, we condemn Jesus to death every day, not out of ignorance, but with full knowledge. Peter's message is for us. "Repent therefore, and turn to God. »

This conversion will push us to proclaim the Gospel, baptizing all those who believe in Jesus, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. St. John in the second reading reminds us to faithfully keep his commandment of love. Thus God will illuminate in us and through us.

Even though we desire to shine God’s love to the world, our everyday life tells us another story. In truth, this is not what we want we do that we do, it's just the opposite. When things do not go as we would like, we have to open our doors. Let us not be shut ourselves inside. Let us learn to keep the door open, so that Jesus may enter in us. If we fail very often, it is because our eyes haven’t learned to fix in Jesus, the Prince of peace. Let us not forget the beautiful story of Peter walking on the water.

To become true disciples of the Lord, we need to be completely impregnated and inhabited by the Lord. If we let our door closed, how could Jesus enter into us. Like the disciples of Emmaus, we must listen to the Word of God, read the Bible and participate in the Eucharist, the breaking of bread, regularly. This is where we are invited to draw for the mission that the Lord entrusts to us.

He invites us to discover in his humanity, even transfigured, glorified, transformed, yet it is the same Jesus with all entire person. Passion is not removed by the resurrection. Jesus is inviting us to discover Him, the crucified. If we believe that Jesus died for you and me, let us Boldly proclaim the Good News, of pardon and divine love.

saint Jean 6,16-21.

Le soir venu, les disciples de Jésus descendirent jusqu’à la mer.
Ils s’embarquèrent pour gagner Capharnaüm, sur l’autre rive. C’était déjà les ténèbres, et Jésus n’avait pas encore rejoint les disciples.
Un grand vent soufflait, et la mer était agitée.
Les disciples avaient ramé sur une distance de vingt-cinq ou trente stades (c’est-à-dire environ cinq mille mètres), lorsqu’ils virent Jésus qui marchait sur la mer et se rapprochait de la barque. Alors, ils furent saisis de peur.
Mais il leur dit : « C’est moi. N’ayez plus peur. »
Les disciples voulaient le prendre dans la barque ; aussitôt, la barque toucha terre là où ils se rendaient.

Le message

1. « N’ayez pas peur. » C’est la peur qui nous empêche à nous avancer. C’est à cause de la même peur que les disciples n’arrivaient pas à reconnaitre le Seigneur. Pourquoi avoir peur tant que le Seigneur est avec nous.
2. Le Seigneur nous accompagne. Nous ne devons que l’écouter.
3. « C’était déjà les ténèbres ». Attention, lorsque nous sommes confrontés par les pouvoirs de ténèbres, nous devons crier vers le Seigneur et Il viendra pour nous sauver.
4. Prenons l’initiative comme le Seigneur. N’attendons pas l’invitation à aider nos frères.

Scripture: John 6:16-21

16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 The sea rose because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat. They were frightened, 20 but he said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid." 21 Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

The message

1. The evening is a bad time to be alone. It is important that we be with the Lord. Going alone without the Lord is equivalent of taking a great risk.
2. Jesus knows our difficult moment of life. He will never leave us alone. He will come to save us. All that we are asked is to cry and wait for the sign from the Lord.
3. The unnecessary fear is a very bad feeling of life. It is capable of blocking all our development. It not only blocks, but misleads us by forcing us to take wrong decisions. A fearful person will live eternally in slavery, even though he may be a liberated and free person.
4. If we life in and by Christ, all the frightening winds and storms will never be able to disturb us, even the nigh will be a bright day for us.

saint Jean 6,1-15.

En ce temps-là, Jésus passa de l’autre côté de la mer de Galilée, le lac de Tibériade.
Une grande foule le suivait, parce qu’elle avait vu les signes qu’il accomplissait sur les malades.
Jésus gravit la montagne, et là, il était assis avec ses disciples.
Or, la Pâque, la fête des Juifs, était proche.
Jésus leva les yeux et vit qu’une foule nombreuse venait à lui. Il dit à Philippe : « Où pourrions-nous acheter du pain pour qu’ils aient à manger ? »
Il disait cela pour le mettre à l’épreuve, car il savait bien, lui, ce qu’il allait faire.
Philippe lui répondit : « Le salaire de deux cents journées ne suffirait pas pour que chacun reçoive un peu de pain. »
Un de ses disciples, André, le frère de Simon-Pierre, lui dit :
« Il y a là un jeune garçon qui a cinq pains d’orge et deux poissons, mais qu’est-ce que cela pour tant de monde ! »
Jésus dit : « Faites asseoir les gens. » Il y avait beaucoup d’herbe à cet endroit. Ils s’assirent donc, au nombre d’environ cinq mille hommes.
Alors Jésus prit les pains et, après avoir rendu grâce, il les distribua aux convives ; il leur donna aussi du poisson, autant qu’ils en voulaient.
Quand ils eurent mangé à leur faim, il dit à ses disciples : « Rassemblez les morceaux en surplus, pour que rien ne se perde. »
Ils les rassemblèrent, et ils remplirent douze paniers avec les morceaux des cinq pains d’orge, restés en surplus pour ceux qui prenaient cette nourriture.
À la vue du signe que Jésus avait accompli, les gens disaient : « C’est vraiment lui le Prophète annoncé, celui qui vient dans le monde. »
Mais Jésus savait qu’ils allaient venir l’enlever pour faire de lui leur roi ; alors de nouveau il se retira dans la montagne, lui seul.

Le message

L'histoire de la multiplication du pain nous aide à comprendre non seulement le comportement du Seigneur, mais aussi comment nous nous comportons. Dans cette histoire nous pouvons apprendre à regarder et à agir comme Lui. Ce regard est important pour bien agir.

Le constat est juste : la foule avait faim. Les disciples cherchaient tout ce qu’ils n’avaient pas, alors le Seigneur cherchait tout ce qu’ils avaient : cinq pains et deux poissons. Si nous cherchons tout ce que nous avons, notre vie sera une vie heureuse.

La multiplication est un travail du Seigneur. Pourtant il est demandé que nous participions à cette multiplication en partageant tout ce que nous avons. Sommes-nous prêts à partager notre pain quotidien ?

Jésus est notre pain vivant qui nous nourrit par sa Parole et ses actions. Nous devons reconnaitre qu’Il est notre pain quotidien pour vivre notre vie pleinement.

Gospel text (Jn 6,1-15):

Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, near Tiberias, and large crowds followed him because of the miraculous signs they saw when He healed the sick. So He went up into the hills and sat down there with his disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. Then lifting up his eyes, Jesus saw the crowds that were coming to him and said to Philip, «Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?». He said this to test Philip, for He himself knew what He was going to do. Philip answered him, «Two hundred silver coins would not buy enough bread for each of them to have a piece». Then one of Jesus' disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said, «There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?».

Jesus said, «Make the people sit down». There was plenty of grass there so the people, about five thousand men, sat down to rest. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks and distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish and gave them as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten enough, he told his disciples, «Gather up the pieces left over, that nothing may be lost». So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with bread, that is with pieces of the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. When the people saw this sign that Jesus had just given, they said, «This is really the Prophet, he who is to come into the world». Jesus realized that they would come and take him by force to make him king; so he fled to the hills by himself.

The message

The multiplication of bread is given to us so that we may realize that Jesus is the one who nourishes the creation. Like this bread which is multiplied, we are called to multiply the talents that God has given to us. It is possible, only if we give back to God, what He deserves and allow Him to rule over us.

This story is a good lesson for us to understand how God is compassionate and loving. It is in Jesus that we discover this loving God. From Him we learn to look at events and situation in His way and are called to respond to such situation like Him.

The multiplication is not our work. It is Lord’s work. All that is demanded from us is to share with Him the little bread that we have. Only if we open ourselves to the marvelous work of the Lord that this multiplication can be realized in us. Are we ready to open ourselves?
