Matthieu 28,8-15.

En ce temps-là, quand les femmes eurent entendu les paroles de l’ange, vite, elles quittèrent le tombeau, remplies à la fois de crainte et d’une grande joie, et elles coururent porter la nouvelle à ses disciples.
Et voici que Jésus vint à leur rencontre et leur dit : « Je vous salue. » Elles s’approchèrent, lui saisirent les pieds et se prosternèrent devant lui.
Alors Jésus leur dit : « Soyez sans crainte, allez annoncer à mes frères qu’ils doivent se rendre en Galilée : c’est là qu’ils me verront. »
Tandis qu’elles étaient en chemin, quelques-uns des gardes allèrent en ville annoncer aux grands prêtres tout ce qui s’était passé.
Ceux-ci, après s’être réunis avec les anciens et avoir tenu conseil, donnèrent aux soldats une forte somme
en disant : « Voici ce que vous direz : “Ses disciples sont venus voler le corps, la nuit pendant que nous dormions.”
Et si tout cela vient aux oreilles du gouverneur, nous lui expliquerons la chose, et nous vous éviterons tout ennui. »
Les soldats prirent l’argent et suivirent les instructions. Et cette explication s’est propagée chez les Juifs jusqu’à aujourd’hui.

Le message

Ce n’est pas les Apôtres qui sont formés par le Seigneur annoncent la Bonne Nouvelle, mais les femmes qui aimaient le Seigneur ont été choisi d’être les première missionnaires. Après avoir célébré la résurrection du Seigneur, annonçons-nous la Bonne Nouvelle et avons-nous le même amour pour le Seigneur?

La fête de la Lumière et de l’espérance nous invite à témoigner notre joie et elle nous demande de partager cette joie avec nos frères et sœurs. Lors du baptême nous avons promis de garder cette Lumière allumée. Est-il l’actualité du jour ?

Scripture: Matthew 28:8-15

8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Hail!" And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me." 11 While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. 12 And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers 13 and said, "Tell people, `His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.' 14 And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." 15 So they took the money and did as they were directed; and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.

The message

Faith is a free gift of God. Only people filled with love can identify this faith and only such people can feel the joy that this Faith give us. It is in this love for the Lord that these women receive the Good News and become the first missionaries of the Good News.

In this male dominated society, Jesus has taught us to put confidence in all those love the Lord and these women have become our model. Like them Jesus is sending each and every one of us to announce the Good News. Have we received this mission in joy and are we ready to accomplish the will of the resurrected?

Jean 20,1-9.

Le premier jour de la semaine, Marie Madeleine se rend au tombeau de grand matin ; c’était encore les ténèbres. Elle s’aperçoit que la pierre a été enlevée du tombeau.
Elle court donc trouver Simon-Pierre et l’autre disciple, celui que Jésus aimait, et elle leur dit : « On a enlevé le Seigneur de son tombeau, et nous ne savons pas où on l’a déposé. »
Pierre partit donc avec l’autre disciple pour se rendre au tombeau.
Ils couraient tous les deux ensemble, mais l’autre disciple courut plus vite que Pierre et arriva le premier au tombeau.
En se penchant, il s’aperçoit que les linges sont posés à plat ; cependant il n’entre pas.
Simon-Pierre, qui le suivait, arrive à son tour. Il entre dans le tombeau ; il aperçoit les linges, posés à plat,
ainsi que le suaire qui avait entouré la tête de Jésus, non pas posé avec les linges, mais roulé à part à sa place.
C’est alors qu’entra l’autre disciple, lui qui était arrivé le premier au tombeau. Il vit, et il crut.
Jusque-là, en effet, les disciples n’avaient pas compris que, selon l’Écriture, il fallait que Jésus ressuscite d’entre les morts.

Homélie

Il fait encore sombre au matin de Pâque. Marie Madeleine rempli d’amour pour Jésus s’est rendue au tombeau et elle découvre le tombeau vide, mais rempli des signes et d’espérance. C’est Jean que le Seigneur aimait été capable de pouvoir traduire le vide en espérance.

La résurrection est un fruit de la Croix et de la mort. Sans passer la mort, nous ne pouvons pas espérer la résurrection. L’incarnation et la résurrection sont inspirées par l’amour divin, où Dieu a voulu renouveler son alliance sainte pour que nous vivions notre vie pleinement. Vivre notre vie pleinement est vivre en Dieu, c'est-à-dire vivre dans l’amour et dans le pardon. Pardon est une expression de l’amour. C’est dans cet amour que Jésus pardonne le monde qui le rejette habituellement.

Aujourd’hui est une fête de la lumière, où la mort est convaincue par la résurrection. Est une fête de l’espérance pour ceux et celles qui s’engagent pour la paix. Même si la marche vers la paix est lente, la résurrection nous assure, que dans ce chemin de la Croix pleine de patience et de pardon que nous verrons la résurrection. La violence peut supprimer les actes qui rendent la violence visible, mais elle-même est violente, donc la paix ne peut pas naître dans cette violence. La résurrection nous montre un bon chemin de non violence qui est capable de faire naître la paix permanente dans ce monde.

Tous les baptisés sont nés dans le Seigneur à travers leur baptême. Donc nous sommes les enfants de Dieu. C’est vrai que la sainteté qui demeure en nous, ne se rende pas visible dans notre vie quotidienne. Mais sachons le, la sainteté ne cherche pas une publicité, elle reste dans un endroit tranquille et discret. Dieu travaille dans un cœur de paix et de tranquillité car Dieu est la PAIX. Saint Paul nous rappelle que puisque nous avons participé au baptême du Seigneur, nous sommes déjà ressuscités avec lui. C’est pourquoi pour les chrétiens, la mort n’est pas la fin de la vie, mais est un commencement d’une vie nouvelle, une vie éternelle où nous verrons le Seigneur face à face.

Dans ce monde qui est désespéré, nous sommes appelés à être témoins de cette espérance d’en haut, dont les apôtres et ces femmes sont les témoins. Dans cette fête de Pâques nous avons un mot qui se répète dans les chants et dans les prières : ‘alléluia’. Nous avons raison de chanter Alléluia. Parce qu’au centre de notre foi, il y a cette assurance que Jésus est ressuscité. Que ce mot fasse un écho dans notre vie quotidienne. Que cette fête nous rende heureux et qu’il nous fasse un peuple joyeux, remplit d’espérance et de Paix. Amen.

1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him." 3 Peter then came out with the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb. 4 They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; 5 and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying, 7 and the napkin, which had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not know the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

Homily

Since forty days we were preparing for this great day and we are here, in front of this tomb of the Lord with these ladies, looking for Jesus among the dead. It is worth to look at these women very closely and try to enter into their heart to find out what exactly they are living inside. Filled with discouragement, broken heart with collapsed dreams, and all seem to lead to a final non end.

Many of us may find ourselves in their place, with many such collapsed dreams and disappointments. It is there God surprises us. It is here that a heart which loves the Lord and deep faith in His presence in the personal life, will find a consolation and the radiant light which shines in the darkness of human heart.

Certainly, if we allow ourselves to be dominated with the disappointments and failures, we may run outside, still looking for the Lord among the death, like these women, filled with love for the Lord with less faith in the resurrected. However, Lord always surprises. He does wonders, when we don’t expect. They went in search for the dead, and the Lord surprised them with His resurrection. He continues to surprises us and we continue to search for Him among the dead. Shall we give a try and look towards the future with hope and confidence?

The feast of the Resurrection is finding the Lord in an empty place and taking a risky road with confidence and hope. We all try and have a strong desire to search and find Him, the reason with all its intelligence, emotions with all its sentiments should stop, pointing us towards some unknown destination. Only love which is infused by faith, is capable of leading us towards deeper and higher destination than the reason and emotions. This Faith in the resurrected will help us to walk not only in hope with lots of expectations, but also with confidence, of assuring us that all that we search for, is already given to us.

John saw the empty tomb and believed. He looked the tomb with faith. With simple necked eyes, we can’t see the invisible presence of the Lord. Though all saw an empty tomb, only John found that in this emptiness, there were living signs, which spoke thousand times about the risen Lord. The Lord has buried the death eternally. To discover this hidden and revealed truth, we need to look everything with an eye of faith.

Dear brothers and sisters, this feast gives us the Faith, which is the foundation of our hope and confidence. This feast of light, enlighten us the life after the death. This feast is the hope of every Christian believer. We learn from this feast that the Cross is the only door of our salvation. Let us learn to take it as part of our life, because, the Lord will transform all our crosses in to resurrection. I wish you all a very happy and holy Easter.

Matthieu 26,14-25.

En ce temps-là, l’un des Douze, nommé Judas Iscariote, se rendit chez les grands prêtres
et leur dit : « Que voulez-vous me donner, si je vous le livre ? » Ils lui remirent trente pièces d’argent.
Et depuis, Judas cherchait une occasion favorable pour le livrer.
Le premier jour de la fête des pains sans levain, les disciples s’approchèrent et dirent à Jésus : « Où veux-tu que nous te fassions les préparatifs pour manger la Pâque ? »
Il leur dit : « Allez à la ville, chez un tel, et dites-lui : “Le Maître te fait dire : Mon temps est proche ; c’est chez toi que je veux célébrer la Pâque avec mes disciples.” »
Les disciples firent ce que Jésus leur avait prescrit et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
Le soir venu, Jésus se trouvait à table avec les Douze.
Pendant le repas, il déclara : « Amen, je vous le dis : l’un de vous va me livrer. »
Profondément attristés, ils se mirent à lui demander, chacun son tour : « Serait-ce moi, Seigneur ? »
Prenant la parole, il dit : « Celui qui s’est servi au plat en même temps que moi, celui-là va me livrer.
Le Fils de l’homme s’en va, comme il est écrit à son sujet ; mais malheureux celui par qui le Fils de l’homme est livré ! Il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’il ne soit pas né, cet homme-là ! »
Judas, celui qui le livrait, prit la parole : « Rabbi, serait-ce moi ? » Jésus lui répond : « C’est toi-même qui l’as dit ! »

Homélie

« Ce jour-là sera pour vous un mémorial……. D’âge en âge vous le fêterez » Et nous fêtons la même fête, un mémorial du sang versé. Chaque célébration de l’Eucharistie est un mémorial de cet événement où le peuple d’Israël est sauvé par le Seigneur et par sa croix et par sa résurrection il nous a sauvés. Les apôtres nous l’ont transmis et quand nous célébrons cette Eucharistie ensemble avec nos enfants, nous le leurs transmettons.

Aujourd’hui Jésus est cet agneau immolé et il commence à le reconstruire avec le lavement de pieds de ses disciples. Cet abaissement jusqu’à mourir, à mourir sur la croix n’est pas acceptable pour ses apôtres. Pierre s’exprime « Toi, Seigneur, tu veux me laver les pieds !......Tu ne me laveras pas les pieds ; non, jamais ! » Comment pouvons-nous accepter cette humilité et cet abaissement de Dieu-même au service du peuple. Il n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie pour les autres.

Ce jeudi saint nous sommes invités à revenir à l’essential du cœur de la foi, la foi chrétienne et à remettre Jésus au centre de notre vie. Le corps peut vivre sans nourriture pour un moment, mais l’habituelle absence de cette nourriture sera mortelle pour ce corps. Pareille pour les âmes des hommes. L’Eucharistie est la seule nourriture qui peut nourrir cette âme et faire revivre Jésus en nous.

Avec l’Eucharistie Jésus a établi l’ordre de sacerdoce. Ce sont les prêtres qui nous aident à renouveler cette alliance sainte que Jésus à fait en notre nom avec son Père pour notre salut. C’est pourquoi les prêtres fêtent ce jour là comme leur fête. Nous avons besoin de ces prêtres pour ce sacrifice. Aujourd’hui prions pour la vocation et pour vos prêtres présents ici dans cette église. J’ai besoin de vos prières et votre soutien pour vivre ma vie pleinement dans la plénitude de la sainteté. Que je prenne cette croix de Jésus, votre croix en moi, pour que vous puissiez participer au salut que le Seigneur nous propose.

Et nous pouvons prier ainsi avec moi.

Nous te prions, Seigneur ; Donne aux prêtres force et courage pour la mission que tu leur confies. Et donne à tous les croyants de reconnaître et d’accueillir ce don de l’Eucharistie et du sacerdoce qui leur est offert. Donne-nous de vivre de ton amour afin qu’il remplisse nos vies.

1 Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper, laid aside his garments, and girded himself with a towel. 5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.

6 He came to Simon Peter; and Peter said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?" 7 Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not know now, but afterward you will understand." 8 Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part in me." 9 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!" 10 Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but he is clean all over; and you are clean, but not every one of you." 11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean."

12 When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and resumed his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one anothers feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.

Homily

Today’s celebration orients us toward the Lord's Passover. It is the last event of the ministry of Jesus, an event that will make the Church to live through these Apostles of the Lord. This event will form the Apostles definitely to be missionaries and they will start to be after receiving the Holy Spirit. It is in this event is inaugurated for us the eternal life. And here, the new Adam gives us the spiritual food: this is my body and this is my Blood. The Apostles will remember and repeat this as a memory in all their missionary life.

Saint John tells us that the disciples of the Lord knew the importance of this event: "He who had loved his own who were in the world loved them to the end ........." It is in this divine love that the Lord has established the Eucharist. Each time we participate in the Eucharist, we experience the love that asks us to share it. The Lord's passion is a passion of love.

What is the message of the day for the daily application? "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet to others. "We have to put ourselves at the service of others. Just like Jesus who has left behind the divine garment by participating in humanity through his incarnation, and takes a linen of service in humility by washing the feet of his disciples, we too as his disciples must learn to empty ourselves, particularly our interest, our good, our well-being, etc for the accomplishment of the will of the Father.

Like Judas who betrayed the Lord, and Peter, who will even deny his Master three times, and we too are able to fail. So we will need to maintain this divine life in us through the love that gives. As I told you that this love is given in the service and in humility.

It is quite possible that we understand nothing in our present life. Yet we are called by Jesus to be like him. The transformation expected in the Eucharist is a transformation of the heart that must love in action, agreeing to serve, by agreeing to be humble.

When we celebrate Holy Thursday, we often forget that the dark night of the Mount of Olives, to which Jesus comes with his disciples, is also a part of that night. He enters to purify it. If we wake with the Lord as He asks us to do, we can find even in his solitude, he is fully united with the Father, like a branch that is united to the vine.

In this union of prater, the pure human will, will transform into the divine will, the submission to freedom. A free man gives freely in love. That is why Jesus gives us a new commandment, "Love one another as I have loved you. "Church asks us to discover that love in the washing of feet, in the Holy Cross and invites us to share in his resurrection. I wish you all a meaningful celebration.

Jean 13,21-33.36-38.

En ce temps-là, au cours du repas que Jésus prenait avec ses disciples, il fut bouleversé en son esprit, et il rendit ce témoignage : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : l’un de vous me livrera. »
Les disciples se regardaient les uns les autres avec embarras, ne sachant pas de qui Jésus parlait.
Il y avait à table, appuyé contre Jésus, l’un de ses disciples, celui que Jésus aimait.
Simon-Pierre lui fait signe de demander à Jésus de qui il veut parler.
Le disciple se penche donc sur la poitrine de Jésus et lui dit : « Seigneur, qui est-ce ? »
Jésus lui répond : « C’est celui à qui je donnerai la bouchée que je vais tremper dans le plat. » Il trempe la bouchée, et la donne à Judas, fils de Simon l’Iscariote.
Et, quand Judas eut pris la bouchée, Satan entra en lui. Jésus lui dit alors : « Ce que tu fais, fais-le vite. »
Mais aucun des convives ne comprit pourquoi il lui avait dit cela.
Comme Judas tenait la bourse commune, certains pensèrent que Jésus voulait lui dire d’acheter ce qu’il fallait pour la fête, ou de donner quelque chose aux pauvres.
Judas prit donc la bouchée, et sortit aussitôt. Or il faisait nuit.
Quand il fut sorti, Jésus déclara : « Maintenant le Fils de l’homme est glorifié, et Dieu est glorifié en lui.
Si Dieu est glorifié en lui, Dieu aussi le glorifiera ; et il le glorifiera bientôt.
Petits enfants, c’est pour peu de temps encore que je suis avec vous. Vous me chercherez, et, comme je l’ai dit aux Juifs : “Là où je vais, vous ne pouvez pas aller”, je vous le dis maintenant à vous aussi.
Simon-Pierre lui dit : « Seigneur, où vas-tu ? » Jésus lui répondit : « Là où je vais, tu ne peux pas me suivre maintenant ; tu me suivras plus tard. »
Pierre lui dit : « Seigneur, pourquoi ne puis-je pas te suivre à présent ? Je donnerai ma vie pour toi ! »
Jésus réplique : « Tu donneras ta vie pour moi ? Amen, amen, je te le dis : le coq ne chantera pas avant que tu m’aies renié trois fois.

Le message

Jésus est à table avec ses disciples. Mettons-nous avec Lui et ressentons en nous son sentiment. Il est totalement bouleversé, comme nous devant sa mort. Il mange un dernier repas avec ses disciples qu’Il a aimé tellement.

En sachant avant, tout ce qui va passer, la trahison de Judas Iscariote, sa mort, etc, et aussi les désarrois de ses disciples après sa mort, Il fixe son regard sur l’accomplissement de la volonté du Père, le point finale de l’incarnation.

Le Seigneur laisse non seulement Judas Iscariote libre, mais aussi Pierre. Il faut savoir revenir. Comme Pierre, faisons confiance à la miséricorde de Dieu, et nous serons sauvés. La glorification se trouve non seulement dans cette confiance et mais aussi à la fidélité.

21 When Jesus had thus spoken, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." 22 The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. 23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus; 24 so Simon Peter beckoned to him and said, "Tell us who it is of whom he speaks." 25 So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?" 26 Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 Then after the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly." 28 Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him. 29 Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the feast"; or, that he should give something to the poor.30 So, after receiving the morsel, he immediately went out; and it was night.

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is glorified; 32 if God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, `Where I am going you cannot come.' 36 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow afterward." 37 Peter said to him, "Lord, why cannot I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." 38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the cock will not crow, till you have denied me three times.

The message

Jesus is at table with His disciples, the last moment of His life on the earth, the definitive meal which His disciples will remember eternally, a surrounding filled with emotions and we find Jesus troubled very deep in His heart.

It is an important moment for Jesus, for He knows what is exactly to happen and an important moment for the disciples , because they will find here the source of their hope and foundation of their faith.

For us, it is Judas and Peter who become a model to imitate. Peter in a positive way: we will do like him and Judas in a negative way: never repeat in our life. It is not what they have done which carries much importance for Jesus, because Jesus knows that we are weak. What’s important here is the question of coming back. Peter believed in the mercy of God and Judas believed in his unworthiness. Like the prodigal son, we should learn to say, I will rise and come back to my Father and Jesus never fails us.

saint Jean 12,1-11.

Six jours avant la Pâque, Jésus vint à Béthanie où habitait Lazare, qu’il avait réveillé d’entre les morts.
On donna un repas en l’honneur de Jésus. Marthe faisait le service, Lazare était parmi les convives avec Jésus.
Or, Marie avait pris une livre d’un parfum très pur et de très grande valeur ; elle versa le parfum sur les pieds de Jésus, qu’elle essuya avec ses cheveux ; la maison fut remplie de l’odeur du parfum.
Judas Iscariote, l’un de ses disciples, celui qui allait le livrer, dit alors :
« Pourquoi n’a-t-on pas vendu ce parfum pour trois cents pièces d’argent, que l’on aurait données à des pauvres ? »
Il parla ainsi, non par souci des pauvres, mais parce que c’était un voleur : comme il tenait la bourse commune, il prenait ce que l’on y mettait.
Jésus lui dit : « Laisse-la observer cet usage en vue du jour de mon ensevelissement !
Des pauvres, vous en aurez toujours avec vous, mais moi, vous ne m’aurez pas toujours. »
Or, une grande foule de Juifs apprit que Jésus était là, et ils arrivèrent, non seulement à cause de Jésus, mais aussi pour voir ce Lazare qu’il avait réveillé d’entre les morts.
Les grands prêtres décidèrent alors de tuer aussi Lazare,
parce que beaucoup de Juifs, à cause de lui, s’en allaient, et croyaient en Jésus.

Le message

Le temps de Carême est un temps offert à tous les Chrétiens pour qu’ils découvrent combien Dieu nous aime. Ces jours-là, il faut que nous soyons avec Lui, en union de prière.

Marié qui écoutait la Parole du Seigneur, Le prépare à son ensevelissement et le Seigneur l’accepte, car Il ressent en lui la douleur de sa mort. Si nous fixons nos regards sur Jésus Christ, nous pouvons découvrir qu’il y a une joie, une joie de pouvoir accomplir la volonté du Père.

Pourquoi ne pas imiter Marie, de tout ce qu’elle fait pour le Seigneur ? Dans son amour, elle est capable de tout faire. Comme la maison fut remplie de ce parfum, que nos actions de charité qui naissent de notre contemplation de l’amour de Dieu, remplissent le monde avec l’amour divin.

Gospel Reading: John 12:1-11

1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at table with him. 3 Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said, 5 "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. 8 The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me." 9 When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus also to death, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. 12 The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

The message

I have said yesterday that the passion of the Lord is a passion of love. God loved us so much that He gave His only Son. This time of Lent, is a time given to us, so that we may discover this divine love.

During this week, let us be very close to the Lord in prayer and contemplation. He wishes that we may be with Him so that we may in this prayer and contemplation, understand their (Father and Son) conversation and respond to their love in a dignified way.

Like Mary, who once loved to listen the Word of God, is doing something very precious and the Lord accepts this gest of love as a worthy preparation for His own death. Like her, let us learn to do everything in this love. During this holy week, let our actions be born of our contemplation of this divine love and may these action, perfume the whole world with the divine love. I wish you all a very Holy Week. Ils partirent,

« Qu’avez-vous à détacher cet ânon ? »

Homélie

Nous voici parvenus au début de la grande Semaine Sainte. Elle est appelée parce qu’en son centre il y a Jésus Christ. C’est lui que nous sommes invités à suivre jusqu’au bout. C’est en regardant vers sa croix que nous comprenons à quel point il nous a aimés. Nous ne devons jamais oublier que sa Passion a été une Passion d’amour. C’est là que nous comprenons la froideur et la mesquinerie des nombreuses passions qui agitent notre cœur. Si Jésus a été condamné, c’est parce que les hommes ont préféré les sacrifices de la loi à la miséricorde. C’est aussi à cause du manque de foi de ceux qui s’estiment justes. Celui qui ne choisit pas l’amour finit par devenir complice du mal.

On ne sait pas comment les souffrances et les douleurs sont entrées dans un monde où Dieu demeure. Pourquoi Dieu a permis ces souffrance et douleurs coexister avec la joie et le bonheur. Pourquoi le Père a délivré son Fils bien aimé aux mains des méchants ? Nous n’avons aucune réponse.

Voilà nous avons un Dieu qui a pris notre chair, participe aux souffrances de l’humanité, devient victime de la méchanceté des hommes, devenant obéissant jusqu’à mourir, et à mourir sur une croix réservée pour les grands criminels de cet époque.

Il était acclamé par les enfants, comme le roi des juifs, comme le messie et le sauveur du monde, comme envoyé de Dieu, fils de David, etc. Pourtant cet homme s’éloigne de ces titres donnés par les hommes, mais tien en lui un seul titre donné par son Père : Mon bien aimé. Et il s’engage remplit d’amour, comme ce Fils bien aimé en faisant tout ce que son Père lui a demandé. Ce n’était pas facile pour lui. Il a bien posé cette question comme nous, pourquoi cette Croix et pourquoi c’est moi. Pourtant il a obéi son Père en disant, « que ta volonté soit faite ». Notre Mère, la mère de Jésus en est un témoin.

Nous l’acclamons aujourd’hui comme notre roi, mais il est un roi autrement, sans soldat ni pouvoir, sans palais ni richesse. ¨Les chrétiens voient en lui son sauveur et son libérateur. Pour cette Eglise il est un roi de bonté et de générosité. Un roi d’amour et de pardon. Un roi d’humilité qui est accessible pour tous ceux et celles qui le cherchent. Il est un roi qui se donne. Il est vraiment notre roi, par excellence. Un roi qui protège son peuple et son royaume, un roi qui rend son peuple riche et puissant.

Mes amis, aujourd’hui il est difficile à trouver un roi comme lui. Comme il nous a rendus capables de nous donner, il nous demande d’être comme lui, un libérateur, un sauveur, qui rend le monde heureux et joyeux. Faisons confiance dans ce roi et devenons un roi comme lui. Amen.

Homily

We have arrived at the beginning of the great Easter and since forty days we were preparing to celebrate this week in a meaningful way, which may enkindle in us the same love and passion that God has for us. We call this week ‘Holy Week’, because in the center, there is Jesus Christ, that we are invited to follow throughout our Christian pilgrimage towards the Promised Land. It is looking toward His cross that we understand how much He loved us.

We must never forget that His passion was a passion of love. It is here we will understand many such passions that agitate our heart, particularly the passion of parents for their children, the passion friends for their loved ones, etc. If Jesus was condemned, it is because men loved the sacrifices of the law of mercy. It is also because of the lack of faith of those who consider themselves righteous. We need not only religious people, but holy people who see the presence of God and transfer this presence in the world through their life. Whoever does not choose love ends up in the evil.

It is not known how the pain and suffering have entered a world where God dwells. Why God allowed such suffering and pain coexist with joy and happiness. Why the Father has delivered his Son in the hands of the wicked? We have no answer than trying to understand to what extent God can go to save us. How can a loving Father remain in peace and joy, while his beloved son suffers outside of his dwelling place? The story of prodigal son does explain to us the silent suffering of the Father. Here we have a God who took our flesh, participate in the sufferings of humanity, becomes a victim of the wickedness of men, becoming obedient unto death, even death on a cross reserved for serious criminals of that era.

He was cheered by children, as the king of the Jews, as the messiah and savior of the world, as sent from God, son of David, etc. But Jesus has chosen the one title given by the Father: My beloved. And undertakes His mission filled with love, as beloved Son doing everything His father asked for. It was not easy for him. He has asked this question as we, why this Cross and why it's me. Yet He obeyed His Father saying, "Thy will be done." Our Mother, the mother of Jesus is a witness to this process where she herself had undergone.

We now hail as our king, but he is a king otherwise, without soldiers or power, without the palace or riches. Christians see him as our savior and liberator. For the Church it is a king of kindness and generosity. A king of love and forgiveness. King of humility who is accessible for all those who seek Him. There is a king who gives himself. He really is our king par excellence. A king who protects His people and His kingdom, a king who makes His people rich and powerful, by becoming poor and empty.

My friends, today it is hard to find a king like him. By baptism, He has made us capable of giving ourselves for our beloved ones. Today He is asking us to renew our baptismal promise, He asking us to be like Him, a deliverer, a savior, who makes everyone happy and joyful. Let us trust in this king and become a king like Him. Amen.

En ce temps-là, quand Lazare fut sorti du tombeau, beaucoup de Juifs, qui étaient venus auprès de Marie et avaient donc vu ce que Jésus avait fait, crurent en lui.
Mais quelques-uns allèrent trouver les pharisiens pour leur raconter ce qu’il avait fait.
Les grands prêtres et les pharisiens réunirent donc le Conseil suprême ; ils disaient : « Qu’allons-nous faire ? Cet homme accomplit un grand nombre de signes.
Si nous le laissons faire, tout le monde va croire en lui, et les Romains viendront détruire notre Lieu saint et notre nation. »
Alors, l’un d’entre eux, Caïphe, qui était grand prêtre cette année-là, leur dit : « Vous n’y comprenez rien ;
vous ne voyez pas quel est votre intérêt : il vaut mieux qu’un seul homme meure pour le peuple, et que l’ensemble de la nation ne périsse pas. »
Ce qu’il disait là ne venait pas de lui-même ; mais, étant grand prêtre cette année-là, il prophétisa que Jésus allait mourir pour la nation ;
et ce n’était pas seulement pour la nation, c’était afin de rassembler dans l’unité les enfants de Dieu dispersés.
À partir de ce jour-là, ils décidèrent de le tuer.
C’est pourquoi Jésus ne se déplaçait plus ouvertement parmi les Juifs ; il partit pour la région proche du désert, dans la ville d’Éphraïm où il séjourna avec ses disciples.
Or, la Pâque juive était proche, et beaucoup montèrent de la campagne à Jérusalem pour se purifier avant la Pâque.
Ils cherchaient Jésus et, dans le Temple, ils se disaient entre eux : « Qu’en pensez-vous ? Il ne viendra sûrement pas à la fête ! »

Le message

Jésus par sa mort nous a unis encore une fois avec son Père. Sa mort nous a rendu la vie, par laquelle, nous sommes devenus les enfants de Dieu. Ressentons-nous que son Père est notre Père et que nous sommes ses enfants ?

Les élites de la société le cherchent pour le tuer, mais les pauvres le cherchent pour être sauvé. Nous aussi, cherchons Jésus et savons-nous la finalité de notre recherche ?

« Qu’en pensez-vous ? Il viendra…………….ou non ? Ayons confiance, Il viendra nous sauver.

Gospel Reading: John 11:45-56

45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him; 46 but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council, and said, "What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48 If we let him go on thus, every one will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation." 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all; 50 you do not understand that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation should not perish." 51 He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they took counsel how to put him to death.

54 Jesus therefore no longer went about openly among the Jews, but went from there to the country near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim; and there he stayed with the disciples. 55 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves. 56 They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they stood in the temple, "What do you think? That he will not come to the feast?"

The message

Everything is oriented towards the death of Jesus. It is so prepared, it seems, the history is just an enactment of the past.

What is important for us today is, are we aware that His death has saved us and united us once again with His Father? Do we feel that we are His children and the exigency demanded from this paternal filiation?

All of them search for Jesus, each with their own purposes. We too search for Christ and are we aware the intention of our search for Christ?

At the end there is a simple, but a radical question: will he come to Jerusalem? Let have the confidence: He will come to save us.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Jean 10,31-42.

En ce temps-là, de nouveau, des Juifs prirent des pierres pour lapider Jésus.
Celui-ci reprit la parole : « J’ai multiplié sous vos yeux les œuvres bonnes qui viennent du Père. Pour laquelle de ces œuvres voulez-vous me lapider ? »
Ils lui répondirent : « Ce n’est pas pour une œuvre bonne que nous voulons te lapider, mais c’est pour un blasphème : tu n’es qu’un homme, et tu te fais Dieu. »
Jésus leur répliqua : « N’est-il pas écrit dans votre Loi : J’ai dit : Vous êtes des dieux ?
Elle les appelle donc des dieux, ceux à qui la parole de Dieu s’adressait, et l’Écriture ne peut pas être abolie.
Or, celui que le Père a consacré et envoyé dans le monde, vous lui dites : “Tu blasphèmes”, parce que j’ai dit : “Je suis le Fils de Dieu”.
Si je ne fais pas les œuvres de mon Père, continuez à ne pas me croire.
Mais si je les fais, même si vous ne me croyez pas, croyez les œuvres. Ainsi vous reconnaîtrez, et de plus en plus, que le Père est en moi, et moi dans le Père. »
Eux cherchaient de nouveau à l’arrêter, mais il échappa à leurs mains.
Il repartit de l’autre côté du Jourdain, à l’endroit où, au début, Jean baptisait ; et il y demeura.
Beaucoup vinrent à lui en déclarant : « Jean n’a pas accompli de signe ; mais tout ce que Jean a dit de celui-ci était vrai. »
Et là, beaucoup crurent en lui.

Le message

« Nous voudrions voir Jésus » Jésus nous explique qu’à travers ses œuvres nous pouvons le reconnaitre. Même si nous n’avons pas une expérience divine et personnelle, en regardant les œuvres de Dieu dans l’histoire de salut, nous pouvons faire confiance en ce Dieu qui a accompagné le peuple de Dieu et nous croyons qu’Il nous accompagnera encore.

S’il y a une personne qui est capable de nous expliquer sur le Père, c’est Jésus Christ. En regardant Jésus plus prêt, nous pouvons connaitre son Père. En ce temps de Carême, nous sommes invités à découvrir en Jésus Christ, combien Dieu nous aime.

31 The Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of these do you stone me?" 33 The Jews answered him, "It is not for a good work that we stone you but for blasphemy; because you, being a man, make yourself God." 34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, `I said, you are gods'? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came (and Scripture cannot be broken), 36 do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, `You are blaspheming,' because I said, `I am the Son of God'? 37 If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father." 39 Again they tried to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands. 40 He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John at first baptized, and there he remained. 41 And many came to him; and they said, "John did no sign, but everything that John said about this man was true." 42 And many believed in him there.

The message

If God has created us in His image, aren’t we the visible signs of this invisible God? Jesus is explaining to us that He is in God and God in Him. In this season of Lent, we are called to have such close relationship with God.

How to know this God? Jesus is telling us that through His work, we can easily identify the presence of God in Jesus. With the same breath He is telling us to look back into our own salvation history and discover, how much God was faithful and He is assuring us that this God will be always faithful.

Today can we join in this group of believers who believe and follow Jesus? Are we ready to leave behind everything to follow Jesus?

Jean 8,51-59.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait aux Juifs : Amen, amen, je vous le dis : si quelqu’un garde ma parole, jamais il ne verra la mort. »
Les Juifs lui dirent : « Maintenant nous savons bien que tu as un démon. Abraham est mort, les prophètes aussi, et toi, tu dis : “Si quelqu’un garde ma parole, il ne connaîtra jamais la mort.”
Es-tu donc plus grand que notre père Abraham ? Il est mort, et les prophètes aussi sont morts. Pour qui te prends-tu ? »
Jésus répondit : « Si je me glorifie moi-même, ma gloire n’est rien ; c’est mon Père qui me glorifie, lui dont vous dites : “Il est notre Dieu”,
alors que vous ne le connaissez pas. Moi, je le connais et, si je dis que je ne le connais pas, je serai comme vous, un menteur. Mais je le connais, et sa parole, je la garde.
Abraham votre père a exulté, sachant qu’il verrait mon Jour. Il l’a vu, et il s’est réjoui. »
Les Juifs lui dirent alors : « Toi qui n’as pas encore cinquante ans, tu as vu Abraham ! »
Jésus leur répondit : « Amen, amen, je vous le dis : avant qu’Abraham fût, moi, JE SUIS. »
Alors ils ramassèrent des pierres pour les lui jeter. Mais Jésus, en se cachant, sortit du Temple.

Le message

Saint Augustin nous dis qu’il y a deux sortes de morts. La mort comme un passage de la vie sur la terre, vers la vie éternelle qui nous unis avec Dieu, et la mort de la relation avec Dieu qui nous unie avec le mal par excellence. La libération dont Jésus nous parle est de la seconde mort, qui nous sépare éternellement du Père.

Tous ceux et celles qui croient à la Parole de Jésus, et la mettent en pratique, vivrons éternellement en Dieu. Pour eux la mort de la vie présente n’est pas la fin, mais le commencement d’une nouvelle vie auprès Dieu.

Aujourd’hui nous la comprenons mieux que le peuple du temps de Jésus. Il faut l’apprendre aux autres que nous aimons, pour qu’ils, eux aussi aient la vie éternelle.

Abraham died, as did the prophets; and you say, `If any one keeps my word, he will never taste death.' 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you claim to be?" 54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is your God. 55 But you have not known him; I know him. If I said, I do not know him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know him and I keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he was to see my day; he saw it and was glad." 57 The Jews then said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am." 59 So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.

The message

We all have to die one day. How to understand this teaching of Jesus that all those who listen His Word and practice will never see death? Saint Augustin says that there are two kinds of death. The first is the physical death that we cannot reverse it, which is actually a passage from earthly life towards the eternal life. The second is a rupture from our relation with the Father, by which we get united with the evil, an eternal death.

When Jesus speaks about the liberation, life without dying, it is the second death, which is very dangerous than the biological death. His death liberates us from death caused by sin. All those who listen to His commandment of love and forgiveness, even in their death, will live in God. It is this life in God is promised to us, not a liberation from the biological death. For every Christian, this biological death is the birth of eternal life in God. Our celebrations of saints do explain to us the meaning of death.

(Lc 1, 26-38)

L'ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth, à une jeune fille, une vierge, accordée en mariage à un homme de la maison de David, appelé Joseph ; et le nom de la jeune fille était Marie.
L'ange entra chez elle et dit : « Je te salue, Comblée-de-grâce, le Seigneur est avec toi. »
À cette parole, elle fut toute bouleversée, et elle se demandait ce que pouvait signifier cette salutation.
L'ange lui dit alors : « Sois sans crainte, Marie, car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu.
Voici que tu vas concevoir et enfanter un fils ; tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus. Il sera grand, il sera appelé Fils du Très-Haut ; le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père ; il régnera pour toujours sur la maison de Jacob, et son règne n'aura pas de fin. »

Marie dit à l'ange : « Comment cela va-t-il se faire, puisque je suis vierge ? »
L'ange lui répondit : « L'Esprit Saint viendra sur toi, et la puissance du Très-Haut te prendra sous son ombre ; c'est pourquoi celui qui va naître sera saint, et il sera appelé Fils de Dieu. Et voici qu'Élisabeth, ta cousine, a conçu, elle aussi, un fils dans sa vieillesse et elle en est à son sixième mois, alors qu'on l'appelait : 'la femme stérile'. Car rien n'est impossible à Dieu. »
Marie dit alors : « Voici la servante du Seigneur ; que tout se passe pour moi selon ta parole. »

Alors l'ange la quitta.

Le message

Si Marie était capable d’identifier et discerner le message de l’ange, c’est parce qu’elle était en Dieu, comme une branche qui s’attache à la vigne.

Comme Zacharie, Marie aussi présentait ses soucis; mais il y avait une grande différence : Marie accepta le message et elle a clarifié, mais Zacharie a refusé le message.

Comme Marie, même si nous ne comprenons pas tous les détails sur la mission du Seigneur, il faut apprendre à accepter le message et clarifier après avoir accepté le message.

Si nous voudrions avoir la grâce du Seigneur, il faut que soyons humble et fidèle comme Marie. En regardant le visage de la Mère de Jésus, nous comprendrons son Fils, Jésus Christ. Je vous souhaite une bonne fête.

The message

If we wish to decode the message of the Lord, we should learn to accept the message. Only by accepting and meditating the Word of God, we can understand and put it into practice.

If Mary could understand and identify the message, it is because, she was living in God. She encourages us to adore our Lord where ever we may be. God, who has seen this hidden adoration of true God in her heart, honored Mary with a marvelous gift of carrying and caring His Son.

Even though the way Zacharias and Mary have asked the question may be similar, there is a vast difference in the question because, Mary accepts the message and clarifies the details, but Zacharias right from the beginning refuses to accept the message. The second and important message is, Mary could surrender to the will of the Father, but Zacharias waits for a scientific explanation from the angel.
