L'Evangile dans ma vie/ The Gospel in my life

Debout, Jérusalem, resplendis ! Elle est venue, ta lumière, et le prophète nous invite à découvrir cette Lumière avec les mages qui viennent de très loin, fatigués, mais pleine d’espérance. C’était les bergers d’Israël qui gardaient les brebis, en veillant toute la nuit, en dehors de la ville, était invités par les anges à participer à leur joie, la joie du Ciel. Aujourd’hui encore, ces sont les étrangers qui sont venus à la rencontre du Roi d’Israël.

Le message du jour est nettement claire et précis et nous en avons deux: tous ceux et celles qui veillent toute la nuit sans perdre l’espérance sont invités à participer à la joie et ils sont accompagnés par l’Esprit du Seigneur. Comment pouvons discerner cet accompagnement ? C’est par leur comportement.

L’identification des événements qui se présentent.

Les étoiles qui ont dirigé les mages vers le Sauveur du monde, sont les signes disponibles à tous, mais perçu seulement par les mages. Dieu nous donne les signes. Les évènements qui se passent dans ces jours et les témoignages des personnes, sont les signes que Dieu nous donne. Avons-nous ce regard des mages pour que nous puissions de les identifier ? Voir les signes de ce monde et faire confiance à ces signes donnés par le Seigneur n’est plus une option de la vie. Si nous voulons vivre notre foi pleinement, nous ne devons que les suivre.

Prendre les risques

Suivre les étoiles inconnues est un grand risque. Nous devons prendre des risques et quitter nos refuges. Aller vers les autres et frapper les portes de nos voisins, est un risque du jour. Sans cette ouverture, nous ne pouvons pas construire le Royaume de Dieu. « Allez vers le monde entier et annoncez la bonne nouvelle » est un devoir chrétien que nos frères et sœurs du monde ont oublié.

Le partage

Comme les mages nous devons consulter et partager les informations reçues. C’est à travers nos témoignages dans notre vie quotidienne et en invitant nos voisins à partager notre bonheur que nous pouvons vivre en communion dans ce monde. Cette invitation et ce partage peuvent déranger les autres et nous aussi. Mais je vous assure mes frères et sœurs que ce dérange est pour le bien de nous et des autres. Un jour l’histoire nous le dira.

Il est possible de se tromper.

It est tout à fait possible de se tromper. Tout ce qui est important est de se mettre de nouveau sur le bon chemin et chercher l’étoile qui nous guide, car elle est toujours là, où nous l’avons laissé.

Nous devons nous offrir.

Ils ont ouvert leurs coffrets et lui offrent l’or, l’encense et la myrrhe. Nous devons ouvrir nos coffrets et lui offrir nos cadeaux. C’est nous-mêmes, notre vie, pas de passé car ce n’est nous appartient pas, non plus de future, car ce n’est pas encore là et le présent, mon temps et mes biens. Ma présence, mon écoute, mon soutient, peuvent être ce cadeau que Dieu nous attend aujourd’hui.

Apprendre à changer nos habitudes

Suivre le chemin des autres et sure, est le règle du jour. Les mages sont partis par un autre chemin. De temps en temps, nous devons prendre les autres chemins, totalement inconnus. Le chemin moins traversé. Là nous seront fidèle, suivrons le nouveau chemin en gardant les yeux ouvertes aux signes du temps et nous feront confiance à la providence du Seigneur.

Ecoutons cette parole du prophète Isaïe, « Debout, Jérusalem ! Resplendis : elle est venue, ta lumière, et la gloire du Seigneur s'est levée sur toi. » Que cette nouvel an soit pour nous une année de grâce et de bonheur. Que le Seigneur nous bénisse et nous garde, Amen.

The prophet Isaiah invites us to discover the Light with mages who come from far away, tired but full of hope. The same hope was given to the shepherds of Israel who were guarding the sheep, ensuring all night outside the city, and they were invited by the angels to participate in their joy, the joy of Heaven. Today, we realize that these are the foreigners who came to meet the King of Israel and tha salvation is universal.

The message of the day is much clear and accurate and we have two: all those who watch all night without losing hope are invited to participate in the joy and accompanied by the Spirit of the Lord. How can discern this support? It is through their behavior.

Identification of the events that occur.

The stars that led the wise men to the Saviour of the world, are the signs available to everyone, but only seen by the Magi. God gives us signs. The events that are happening in these days and the testimonies of the people are the signs that God gives us. Do we have this look of the Magi for us to identify them? See the signs of this world and trust those signs given by the Lord is not an option in life. If we want to live our faith fully, we need only to follow them.

Take risks

Follow the unknown stars is a big risk. We have to take risks and leave our shelters. Reach out to others and go towards our neighbors, is a risk of the day. Without it, we can not build the Kingdom of God. "Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news" is a Christian duty that our brothers and sisters of the world have forgotten.

Sharing is the Christian way of loving.

Like the Magi we access and share the information received. It is through our daily lives and inviting neighbors to share our happiness that we can live in communion in this world. This invitation and this sharing can disturb others and us. But I assure you my brothers and sisters that a mutual sharing is good for us and others. One day history will tell us, how much this sharing is essential for community building.

It is possible to be wrong.

It is quite possible to be wrong like these Mages. All that is important is to get back on the right path and find the star that guides us, for it is always there when we left them.

We have to offer.

They opened their treasures and offered Him gold, incense and myrrh. We must open our boxes and offer our gifts. It is ourselves, our lives, my time and my goods. My presence, my hearing, my supports, can be the gift that God is waiting for us today.

Learning to change our habits

Follow the path of others, and sure, is the rule of the day. The Magi went another way. From time to time we have to take other paths, completely unknown. The path less travelled. There we will be faithful to Lord’s guidance, and fully depending in God’s providence, we will follow the new path keeping our eyes open for signs of time and we will trust and feel the Lord's providence on our life path."May this new year be for us a year of grace and happiness. May the Lord bless us and keep us Amen.

(Jn 1, 29-34)

Le lendemain, voyant Jésus venir vers lui,
Jean le Baptiste déclara :
« Voici l’Agneau de Dieu,
qui enlève le péché du monde ;
c’est de lui que j’ai dit :
L’homme qui vient derrière moi
est passé devant moi,
car avant moi il était.
Et moi, je ne le connaissais pas ;
mais, si je suis venu baptiser dans l’eau,
c’est pour qu’il soit manifesté à Israël. »
Alors Jean rendit ce témoignage :
« J’ai vu l’Esprit
descendre du ciel comme une colombe
et il demeura sur lui.
Et moi, je ne le connaissais pas,
mais celui qui m’a envoyé baptiser dans l’eau m’a dit :
“Celui sur qui tu verras l’Esprit descendre et demeurer,
celui-là baptise dans l’Esprit Saint.”
Moi, j’ai vu, et je rends témoignage :
c’est lui le Fils de Dieu. »

Le message

Comment un cousin peut-il dire qu’il ne le connaisse pas ? Vrai dire, ce n’est plus son cousin, Il est Messie, l’envoyé du Père, car il a vu l’Esprit Saint descendre sur Lui. C’est le même Esprit qui nous fait un seul peuple, peuple de Dieu.

Très souvent nous pensons que nous nous connaissons bien. Pourtant l’expérience empirique nous dit particulièrement chez les couples qui vivent ensembles depuis 25ans, nous disent qu’il est difficile de se connaitre, encore difficile de connaitre l’autre. Nous avons besoin de grâce de Dieu pour se connaitre et aussi pour connaitre Dieu. Car personne n’a vu le Père.

Jean Baptiste amène ses disciples vers le Christ et nous sommes invités à amener le peuple au Seigneur. Nous tous sommes les missionnaires que Dieu envoie au monde. N’oublions pas notre identité, comme envoyé du Père.

Gospel text (Jn 1,29-34):

John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, «There is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. It is he of whom I said: ‘A man comes after me who is already ahead of me, for he was before me’. I myself did not know him, but I came baptizing to prepare for him, so that he might be revealed in Israel». And John also gave this testimony, «I saw the Spirit coming down on him like a dove from heaven and resting on him. I myself did not know him but God who sent me to baptize told me: ‘You will see the Spirit coming down and resting on the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit’. Yes, I have seen! and I declare that this is the Chosen One of God».

The message

God is love and justice. All those who practice the justice and love in their personal and social life, are children of God. It is in this love and forgiveness that we can identify the presence of God in us.

Jean Baptist helps us to identify Christ and he says, he was in need of the Holy Spirit to identify. Jesus is coming towards John Baptist. It is always the case in our relationship with God. It is God who takes the initiative. It is preciously because; we are called to search God in us.

In Jesus we will find a loving Father and through Him we will taste God’s love. We need Jean Baptist to identify God amidst us and we should be in return, be John Baptist for our brothers and sisters.

(Jn 1, 19-28)

Voici le témoignage de Jean le Baptiste,
quand les Juifs lui envoyèrent de Jérusalem
des prêtres et des lévites
pour lui demander :
« Qui es-tu ? »
Il ne refusa pas de répondre, il déclara ouvertement :
« Je ne suis pas le Christ. »
Ils lui demandèrent :
« Alors qu’en est-il ?
Es-tu le prophète Élie ? »
Il répondit :
« Je ne le suis pas.
– Es-tu le Prophète annoncé ? »
Il répondit :
« Non. »
Alors ils lui dirent :
« Qui es-tu ?
Il faut que nous donnions une réponse
à ceux qui nous ont envoyés.
Que dis-tu sur toi-même ? »
Il répondit :
« Je suis la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert :
Redressez le chemin du Seigneur,
comme a dit le prophète Isaïe. »
Or, ils avaient été envoyés de la part des pharisiens.
Ils lui posèrent encore cette question :
« Pourquoi donc baptises-tu,
si tu n’es ni le Christ, ni Élie, ni le Prophète ? »
Jean leur répondit :
« Moi, je baptise dans l’eau.
Mais au milieu de vous
se tient celui que vous ne connaissez pas ;
c’est lui qui vient derrière moi,
et je ne suis pas digne
de délier la courroie de sa sandale. »

Cela s’est passé à Béthanie, de l’autre côté du Jourdain,
à l’endroit où Jean baptisait.

Le Message

Il est important de se connaitre et cette connaissance, la vérité, peut nous sauver. Jean nous affirme, « Je suis la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Redressez le chemin du Seigneur,
comme a dit le prophète Isaïe. ». Cette connaissance de soi, lui a rendu capable d’identifier Jésus et sa présence parmi nous.

Si nous ne nous connaissons pas, comment pouvons-nous identifier Jésus pour les autres ? Cette connaissance de soi nous aidera à reconnaitre Jésus en nous et sa relation avec le Père. C’est ainsi, nous serions capables de rétablir notre relation avec le Père à travers Jésus.

Le sacrement de la réconciliation, et l’appel de Jean Baptiste à se convertir, n’est-il pas un appel à reconnaitre la présence de Dieu en nous et son amour pour tous ?

Gospel text (Jn 1,19-28):

This was the testimony of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites to ask him, «Who are you?». John recognized the truth and did not deny it. He said, «I am not the Messiah». And they asked him, «Then who are you? Elijah?». He answered, «I am not». They said, «Are you the Prophet?». And he answered, «No». Then they said to him, «Tell us who you are, so that we can give some answer to those who sent us. How do you see yourself?». And John said, quoting the prophet Isaiah, «I am the voice crying out in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord».

Those who had been sent were Pharisees; so they put a further question to John: «Then why are you baptizing if you are not the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet?». John answered, «I baptize you with water, but among you stands one whom you do not know; although he comes after me, I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandal». This happened in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

The message

“Then who are you?” is an invitation to understand ourselves and relate with God with a filial affection. Knowing oneself is the first step to know God. Without knowing ourselves, it is practically impossible to discover the God who resides in you.

«I am the voice crying out in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord», is a response which identifies not only the role of John Baptist, but also his self-awareness of this role entrusted to him by the Father.

If all of us are able to respond to our brothers and sister in such manner, like John Baptist, we could avoid quite a lot personal problems and conflicts in the society and build up a healthy cooperation in our world. If we are not able to understand ourselves, how can we understand ourselves and identify Jesus to others?

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 2, 16-21)

En ce temps-là,
les bergers se hâtèrent d’aller à Bethléem,
et ils découvrirent Marie et Joseph,
avec le nouveau-né
couché dans la mangeoire.
Après avoir vu,
ils racontèrent ce qui leur avait été annoncé
au sujet de cet enfant.
Et tous ceux qui entendirent s’étonnaient
de ce que leur racontaient les bergers.
Marie, cependant, retenait tous ces événements
et les méditait dans son cœur.
Les bergers repartirent ;
ils glorifiaient et louaient Dieu
pour tout ce qu’ils avaient entendu et vu,
selon ce qui leur avait été annoncé.

Quand fut arrivé le huitième jour,
celui de la circoncision,
l’enfant reçut le nom de Jésus,
le nom que l’ange lui avait donné avant sa conception.

Le message

Nous rendons grâce au Seigneur pour cette année. Nous la commençons comme habitude avec Marie, la Mère de Jésus, Joseph, et avec les anges. Nous adorons le Petit Jésus dans la joie.

Comme les bergers nous devons glorifier le Seigneur, pour que l’enfant Jésus vienne demeurer en nous et que sa Lumière illumine notre vie.

Avec Marie, Joseph et Jésus, nous formons notre famille spirituelle et nous nous ressentons notre appartenant à cette famille sainte.

Gospel text (Lc 2,16-21):

The shepherds came hurriedly and found Mary and Joseph with the baby lying in the manger. On seeing this they related what they had been told about the child, and all were astonished on hearing the shepherds. As for Mary, she treasured all these messages and continually pondered over them. The shepherds then returned giving glory and praise to God for all they had heard and seen, just as the angels had told them. On the eighth day the circumcision of the baby had to be performed; he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

The message

We begin this New Year in a very simple way, by celebrating the feast of Mary, Mother of God. It is in this small step, God started His salvation plan in the form of incarnation, without making anything extraordinary.

Many of us might have had some good moments and equally some may might have had painful, for some one, I know there were very painful. It is in this pain we discovered the love, the divine love.

Let us offer this New Year to the Holy Family and be part of this wonderful family so that the Incarnated, may find a wonderful place in our hearts.

Like these poor shepherds, let us be joyful in announcing the wonders the Lord has done, and let us ask the Lord the courage to carry on in a right path. I wish you all a wonderful New Year.

(Jn 1, 1-18)

Au commencement était le Verbe,
et le Verbe était auprès de Dieu,
et le Verbe était Dieu.
Il était au commencement auprès de Dieu.
C’est par lui que tout est venu à l’existence,
et rien de ce qui s’est fait ne s’est fait sans lui.
En lui était la vie,
et la vie était la lumière des hommes ;
la lumière brille dans les ténèbres,
et les ténèbres ne l’ont pas arrêtée.

Il y eut un homme envoyé par Dieu ;
son nom était Jean.
Il est venu comme témoin,
pour rendre témoignage à la Lumière,
afin que tous croient par lui.
Cet homme n’était pas la Lumière,
mais il était là pour rendre témoignage à la Lumière.

Le Verbe était la vraie Lumière,
qui éclaire tout homme
en venant dans le monde.
Il était dans le monde,
et le monde était venu par lui à l’existence,
mais le monde ne l’a pas reconnu.
Il est venu chez lui,
et les siens ne l’ont pas reçu.
Mais à tous ceux qui l’ont reçu,
il a donné de pouvoir devenir enfants de Dieu,
eux qui croient en son nom.
Ils ne sont pas nés du sang,
ni d’une volonté charnelle, ni d’une volonté d’homme :
ils sont nés de Dieu.
Et le Verbe s’est fait chair,
il a habité parmi nous,
et nous avons vu sa gloire,
la gloire qu’il tient de son Père
comme Fils unique,
plein de grâce et de vérité.

Jean le Baptiste lui rend témoignage en proclamant :
« C’est de lui que j’ai dit :
Celui qui vient derrière moi
est passé devant moi,
car avant moi il était. »
Tous nous avons eu part à sa plénitude,
nous avons reçu grâce après grâce ;
car la Loi fut donnée par Moïse,
la grâce et la vérité sont venues par Jésus Christ.

Dieu, personne ne l’a jamais vu ;
le Fils unique, lui qui est Dieu,
lui qui est dans le sein du Père,
c’est lui qui l’a fait connaître.

Le message

Nous rendons grâce au Seigneur pour l’année 2014 et nous accueillons l’année 2015 avec un cœur ouvert. Comme Le Verbe qui s’est fait chaire, nous sommes invités à participer à sa divinité. Que le nouvel an soit une année de grâce et de bonheur. Que ce Verbe enlève toute sorte de ténèbres en nous que la Lumière illumine à travers nos vies. Comme Jean Baptiste nous sommes invités à rendre témoignage et à identifier sa présence au monde.

Gospel text (Jn 1,1-18):

In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God and the Word was God; he was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him and without him nothing came to be. Whatever has come to be, found life in him, life which for humans was also light. Light that shines in the dark: light that darkness could not overcome.

A man came, sent by God; his name was John. He came to bear witness, as a witness to introduce the Light so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light but a witness to introduce the Light.

For the Light was coming into the world, the true Light that enlightens everyone. He was already in the world and through him the world was made, the very world that did not know him. He came to his own, yet his own people did not receive him; but all who have received him he empowers to become children of God for they believe in his Name. These are born, but without seed or carnal desire or will of man: they are born of God. And the Word was made flesh; he had his tent pitched among us, and we have seen his Glory, the Glory of the only Son coming from the Father: fullness of truth and loving-kindness.

John bore witness to him openly, saying: «This is the one who comes after me, but he is already ahead of me for he was before me». From his fullness we have all received, favor upon favor. For God had given us the Law through Moses, but Truth and Loving-kindness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God-the-Only-Son made him known: the one who is in and with the Father.

The message

The Light is available to all of us. We are called to welcome this light in us, not only for us personally, but also for others. By welcoming this Light in us, we will become light for others.

Let us thanks the Lord for all that we have received from the Lord and welcome the New Year with an open heart.

Like John Baptist, let us be the witness of His presence in the world and help the world to discover His presence through our lives.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 2, 36-40)

En ce temps-là,
quand les parents de Jésus vinrent le présenter au Temple,
il y avait aussi une femme prophète,
Anne, fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d’Aser.
Elle était très avancée en âge ;
après sept ans de mariage,
demeurée veuve,
elle était arrivée à l’âge de 84 ans.
Elle ne s’éloignait pas du Temple,
servant Dieu jour et nuit dans le jeûne et la prière.
Survenant à cette heure même,
elle proclamait les louanges de Dieu
et parlait de l’enfant
à tous ceux qui attendaient la délivrance de Jérusalem.

Lorsqu’ils eurent achevé
tout ce que prescrivait la loi du Seigneur,
ils retournèrent en Galilée, dans leur ville de Nazareth.

L’enfant, lui, grandissait et se fortifiait,
rempli de sagesse,
et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui.

Le message

Comme Siméon, Anne rende grâce au Seigneur et elle annonce l’arrivée du Messie que le peuple se prépare à l’accueillir.

Ses qualités sont devant nous: son âge, son service au Seigneur dans le Temple, sa fidélité et sa demeure auprès Dieu. Donc son témoignage est vrai et nous pouvons faire confiance à tout ce qu’elle nous dit aujourd’hui.

Le silence des parents du Seigneur est étonnant. De son silence nous tirons la contemplation et la patience. C’est dans cette contemplation et patience que le Seigneur nous invite à participer et à découvrir la présence de Dieu parmi nous.

Gospel text (Lc 2,36-40):

There was also a prophetess named Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. After leaving her father's home, she had been seven years with her husband, and since then she had been continually about the Temple, serving God as a widow night and day in fasting and prayer. She was now eighty-four. Coming up at that time, she gave praise to God and spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem.

When the parents had fulfilled all that was required by the law of the Lord, they returned to their town, Nazareth in Galilee. There the child grew in stature and strength and was filled with wisdom: the grace of God was upon him.

The message

Anna and Mary help us to welcome Christ in our hearts. Anna fully devoted to the Lord, very much alert of the events that pass by, lives her life in meditation and contemplation. It is in this meditation and patience that God’s presence can be identified and cherished in our personal life.

Mary in her silence tells us the importance of meditation and patience. Joseph, who is not visible in the play, except in the title parents, does accompany the Child in all discretion. Isn’t it in the Silence that God speaks to us? What do we communicate by our silence?

Child grows in an ordinary situation. We don’t need extraordinary grace to life our life fully. In an ordinary simple way, we too can respond to God, in a simple way.

Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc

(Lc 2, 22-35)

Quand fut accompli le temps prescrit par la loi de Moïse
pour la purification,
les parents de Jésus l’amenèrent à Jérusalem
pour le présenter au Seigneur,
selon ce qui est écrit dans la Loi :
Tout premier-né de sexe masculin
sera consacré au Seigneur.
Ils venaient aussi offrir
le sacrifice prescrit par la loi du Seigneur :
un couple de tourterelles
ou deux petites colombes.

Or, il y avait à Jérusalem un homme appelé Syméon.
C’était un homme juste et religieux,
qui attendait la Consolation d’Israël,
et l’Esprit Saint était sur lui.
Il avait reçu de l’Esprit Saint l’annonce
qu’il ne verrait pas la mort
avant d’avoir vu le Christ, le Messie du Seigneur.
Sous l’action de l’Esprit, Syméon vint au Temple.
Au moment où les parents présentaient l’enfant Jésus
pour se conformer au rite de la Loi qui le concernait,
Syméon reçut l’enfant dans ses bras,
et il bénit Dieu en disant :
« Maintenant, ô Maître souverain,
tu peux laisser ton serviteur s’en aller
en paix, selon ta parole.
Car mes yeux ont vu le salut
que tu préparais à la face des peuples :
lumière qui se révèle aux nations
et donne gloire à ton peuple Israël. »
Le père et la mère de l’enfant
s’étonnaient de ce qui était dit de lui.
Syméon les bénit,
puis il dit à Marie sa mère :
« Voici que cet enfant
provoquera la chute et le relèvement de beaucoup en Israël.
Il sera un signe de contradiction
– et toi, ton âme sera traversée d’un glaive – :
ainsi seront dévoilées
les pensées qui viennent du cœur d’un grand nombre. »

Le message

La présentation du Seigneur nous aide à croire que Dieu est avec nous et à Le découvrir en Jésus Christ.

La vie du Christ nous donne une espérance à vivre notre vie pleinement comme Lui, si nous écoutons la Parole de Dieu, et si nous la mettons en pratique.

Même si nous ne comprenons pas les événements qui se passent autour de nous, avec une simple méditation et patience, il est pourtant possible de les découvrir, car Dieu nous accompagne. C’est mieux en retard que jamais.

Comme Jésus nous serons, nous aussi les singes de contradiction, provoqueront les chuts, etc., mais, au but de l’accomplissement de la Volonté de Dieu, au but de répandre l’amour et la paix dans notre société.

Gospel text (Lc 2,22-35):

When the day came for the purification according to the law of Moses, they brought the baby up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to God. And they offered a sacrifice as ordered in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

There lived in Jerusalem at this time a very upright and devout man named Simeon; the Holy Spirit was in him. He looked forward to the time when the Lord would comfort Israel, and he had been assured by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the Messiah of the Lord. So he was led into the Temple by the Holy Spirit at the time the parents brought the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law. Simeon took the child in his arms and blessed God, saying, «Now, O Lord, you can dismiss your servant in peace, for you have fulfilled your word and my eyes have seen your salvation, which you display for all the people to see. The message

On the feast of the Holy Family we had the same text and today we look the same text with a different orientation.

First the presentation of the Lord confirms that Jesus is God, and God has prepared His coming very minutely. It is in Jesus that we can discover and know God. He is the visible sign of the Invisible.

The second point is, like Jesus, in the simplicity of life, we too, can live a perfect life like Him, if we listen to the Word of God and put that in practice.

Thirdly, if we don’t understand the events pas around us, or not able to interpret these events, it is not a serious problem to be worried. Like Mary, with little patience and meditation, we too can identify the revelation of God, because God does accompany us in our daily endeavors.

Quand fut accompli le temps prescrit par la loi de Moïse
pour la purification,
les parents de Jésus l’amenèrent à Jérusalem
pour le présenter au Seigneur,

Lorsqu’ils eurent achevé tout ce que prescrivait la loi du Seigneur,
ils retournèrent en Galilée, dans leur ville de Nazareth.
L’enfant, lui, grandissait et se fortifiait,
rempli de sagesse,
et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui.

L’homélie

Nous célébrons la fête de Saint Famille, la famille de Jésus. La famille, comme une institution que nous avons connue et respectée depuis les siècles a radicalement changée. Aujourd’hui nous parlons de la famille composée, recomposée, etc. Les manifestions ‘Mariage à tous’ a divisé notre pays, pour et contre. Dans quelque année, nous ne pouvons plus définir la famille comme un père, une mère et les enfants. Dans ces contextes moderne et contemporaine, nous nous rêvons encore dans l’espérance, avec Marie, Joseph and Jésus, une famille idéale pour imiter.

Nous offrons comme Marie et Joseph, nos enfants au Seigneur et nous Lui demandons de les bénir. Comme ce couple saint, qui a accompagné Jésus, apprenons-nous à accompagner nos enfants. Khalil Gibran dit, « Vos enfants ne sont pas vos enfants. Ils sont les fils et les filles de l'appel de la Vie à elle-même, Ils viennent à travers vous mais non de vous. Et bien qu'ils soient avec vous, ils ne vous appartiennent pas. Nos enfants sont les enfants de Dieu. C’est pourquoi, comme Anne qui a amené son petit entant Samuel au prophète Elie, Marie amène Jésus au temple en reconnaissant qu’Il est appartient à Dieu. Il y avait les surpris, les bouleversements totalement étonnants, avec Joseph, elle apprend sa mission, et sur les déchirements qu’elle impliquera. Tous les parents du monde ont parcouru le même chemin de cette famille Sainte.

Marie est Joseph sont entouré par la Trinité, le Père, l’Esprit Saint qui a poussé Siméon and Anne and Jésus le Christ. Pourtant Marie n’a pas tout compris ni l’annonce de Siméon et Anne ni tous ces événement qui se passent autour son Enfant. Son silence et l’accompagnement de Joseph, lui aide à méditer tout.

Nous avons l’histoire d’Abraham pour la fête de la sainte Famille que Marie a fait confiance. Cette famille d’Abraham sera notre modèle. Pour suivre le Seigneur sur les pas de cette famille, comme Marie, nous pouvons découvrir trois mots important dans la vie d’Abraham : La foi, l’Alliance et la justice. Ces trois mots peuvent résumer le magnificat de Marie. Voilà le fondement de la famille d’Abraham, ceux de Marie, sera le-nôtre. Aucune famille ne peut vivre ensemble sans ce fondement de la vie.

En ce jour de fête nous n’oublions pas les familles déchirées, divisées et séparées. Confions les familles et les couples en difficultés à la Sainte Famille. Prions pour les fiancés qui se préparent au mariage. Seigneur garde nous et protège nous comme tu as protégé la Sainte Famille, Amen.

Gospel text (Lc 2,22-40):

When the day came for the purification according to the law of Moses, they brought the baby up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to God. And they offered a sacrifice as ordered in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

There lived in Jerusalem at this time a very upright and devout man named Simeon; the Holy Spirit was in him. He looked forward to the time when the Lord would comfort Israel, and he had been assured by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before seeing the Messiah of the Lord. So he was led into the Temple by the Holy Spirit at the time the parents brought the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law. Simeon took the child in his arms and blessed God, saying, «Now, O Lord, you can dismiss your servant in peace, for you have fulfilled your word and my eyes have seen your salvation, which you display for all the people to see. There was also a prophetess named Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. After leaving her father's home, she had been seven years with her husband, and since then she had been continually about the Temple, serving God as a widow night and day in fasting and prayer. She was now eighty-four. Coming up at that time, she gave praise to God and spoke of the child to all who looked forward to the deliverance of Jerusalem. When the parents had fulfilled all that was required by the law of the Lord, they returned to their town, Nazareth in Galilee. There the child grew in stature and strength and was filled with wisdom: the grace of God was upon him.

Homily

Today with the universal Church, we are celebration the feast of Holy Family, the family of Jesus. We are in the cross roads with lots of complications in the family and in particularly in Europe, there is a radical change, in the way the secular world look at family as an institution.

We offer like Mary and Joseph, our children to the Lord and ask Him to bless them. As this holy couple who accompanied Jesus, we should learn to accompany our children, with due respect for their individuality. Khalil Gibran said, "Your children are not your children. They are the son and daughters of Life's call to itself, They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. As Christians, our children are God's children and God has entrusted these children in our family.

Therefore, as Anne who brought her little Samuel to prophet prophet Elijah, Mary brings Jesus to the Temple, following the tradition and law, putting Jesus Himself under this law. They were surprised, totally amazed, the ways things turned around. Without understanding all the titles given to her son, King, savior, messiah, liberator, etc., she marches towards the temps accompanied by Simeon and Anna. All parents of the world have journeyed the same path of this Holy Family with ups and downs.

Mary and Joseph are surrounded by the Trinity, the Father, the Holy Spirit and the Christ. Yet Mary did not understand the events happening around her, from the annunciation of the angel to the announcement of Simeon and Anna, etc, and it is just a beginning. Her life is filled with lots of incertitude. Her silence and the support of Joseph, help her to ponder everything in her heart.

We have the story of Abraham for the feast of the Holy Family. What is the relation of Abraham with this holy Family? This family of Abraham was presented as a model family to Mary. Called by the Lord and followed with lots of incertitude. The future was not seems to be bright, Abraham, an old man, still doesn’t have a child from his wife. What a desolation and discouragement?

Mary is called to follow the Lord in the footsteps of this family. If we look deep into this family of Abraham, we will find that Mary had made this family as her model, by imitating from it the Faith of Abraham, renewing the old Alliance that God has made to Abraham and Justice of God, that God keeps his promises and He is always faithful as the foundation of her family. These three words can sum up the Magnificat of Mary. This is the foundation of the family of Abraham, of Mary, should be of ours. No family can live together without this foundation.

If our Christian faith is rooted in this foundation, there will be peace and joy in the family. On this festive day we do not forget the families torn apart, divided and separated. Let us entrust the families and the couples in difficulty and their children to the Holy Family. Let us pray for the young couples preparing for marriage. Lord, keep us and protect us as you have protected the Holy Family, amen.

(Jn 20, 2-8)

Le premier jour de la semaine,
Marie Madeleine courut trouver Simon-Pierre et l’autre disciple,
celui que Jésus aimait,
et elle leur dit :
« On a enlevé le Seigneur de son tombeau,
et nous ne savons pas où on l’a déposé. »
Pierre partit donc avec l’autre disciple
pour se rendre au tombeau.
Ils couraient tous les deux ensemble,
mais l’autre disciple courut plus vite que Pierre
et arriva le premier au tombeau.
En se penchant, il s’aperçoit que les linges sont posés à plat ;
cependant il n’entre pas.
Simon-Pierre, qui le suivait, arrive à son tour.
Il entre dans le tombeau ;
il aperçoit les linges, posés à plat,
ainsi que le suaire qui avait entouré la tête de Jésus,
non pas posé avec les linges,
mais roulé à part à sa place.
C’est alors qu’entra l’autre disciple,
lui qui était arrivé le premier au tombeau.
Il vit, et il crut.

Le message

Marie Madeleine et Simon-Pierre sont allés chercher le corps du Christ. C’est évidant, ils n’ont rien vu. Mais Jean est allé chercher le Seigneur. C’est dans l’absence du corps qu’il a vu la présence du Seigneur : Il est vivant.

« Il vit, et il crut.» C’est une grâce par amour dont Jean a eu pour le Seigneur qu’il était capable de pouvoir décoder l’invisible du visible.

Il est important que tous les chrétiens apprennent de Jean à avoir ce regard de foi. Un regard plein d’espérance. Ce regard nous aidera à identifier la présence du Christ parmi nous. Pour reconnaitre cette présence de Dieu dans notre vie, nous avons besoin de ce REGARD, un regard purement humain, mais transformé divinement.

Gospel text (Jn 20,2-8):

On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala ran to Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved. And she said to them, «They have taken the Lord out of the tomb and we don't know where they have laid him». Peter then set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down and saw the linen cloths lying flat, but he did not enter. Then Simon Peter came following him and entered the tomb; he, too, saw the linen cloths lying flat. The napkin, which had been around his head was not lying flat like the other linen cloths but lay rolled up in its place. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and believed.

The message

All saw the empty tomb and it was really empty. It is in this emptiness that John found lots of signs, which led him to look further, far away from where he was, not inside the tomb, rather outside, fully liberated and transformed, he saw and experienced the great mystery: HE IS ALIVE.

Life is filled with this mystery, if we are ready to go beyond the visible signs and reach out the invisible. Then, our life will be filled with hope and joy. It is not true that God didn’t give us the joy and happiness, like in this empty tomb, but we were not able to identify the joy and happiness that the Lord gives us daily.

Are we ready to go beyond? Look little outside of us?

(Mt 10, 17-22)

En ce temps-là,
Jésus disait à ses disciples :
« Méfiez-vous des hommes :
ils vous livreront aux tribunaux
et vous flagelleront dans leurs synagogues.
Vous serez conduits devant des gouverneurs et des rois
à cause de moi :
il y aura là un témoignage pour eux et pour les païens.
Quand on vous livrera,
ne vous inquiétez pas
de savoir ce que vous direz ni comment vous le direz :
ce que vous aurez à dire
vous sera donné à cette heure-là.
Car ce n’est pas vous qui parlerez,
c’est l’Esprit de votre Père qui parlera en vous.
Le frère livrera son frère à la mort,
et le père, son enfant ;
les enfants se dresseront contre leurs parents
et les feront mettre à mort.
Vous serez détestés de tous à cause de mon nom ;
mais celui qui aura persévéré jusqu’à la fin,
celui-là sera sauvé. »

Le message

Nous sommes dans la joie, car le Seigneur est avec nous. L’histoire de saint Etienne, nous affirme que Dieu était vraiment avec lui et l’Esprit du Seigneur lui a guidé.

Si tout le monde arrive à écouter cette Parole de Dieu et mette en pratique, la terre deviendra le paradis. Puisque nous sommes appelés à suivre les pas du Seigneur, avec Lui, nous sommes capable de transformer cette terre.

L’évangile nous affirme que Dieu n’enlèvera pas nos échecs de la vie, ni résoudra pas nos problèmes, mais Il nous accompagnera et Il sera avec nous.

Gospel text (Mt 10,17-22):

Jesus said to his disciples, «Be on your guard with respect to people, for they will hand you over to their courts and they will flog you in their synagogues. You will be brought to trial before rulers and kings because of me, and so you may witness to them and the pagans. But when you are arrested, do not worry about what you are to say and how you are to say it; when the hour comes, you will be given what you are to say. For it is not you who will speak; but it will be the Spirit of your Father in you. Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child; children will turn against parents and have them put to death. Everyone will hate you because of me, but whoever stands firm to the end will be saved».

The message

Immediately after the birth of Jesus, a joyful occasion, we have the martyrdom of Saint Stephan, the first martyr. For the Christians the birth and the death are interlinked and from the birth to the death God accompanies us. He is always with us. The message of the Emmanuelle is, God is with us.

The gospel message is very clear: God won’t remove our huddles in life, nor will he solve our problems, rather He will accompany us and He will tell us what we should say and what we should do. If we listen to Him and put in practice all that He will tell us, then we will be happy.
